  • Excellent for a Graduate Gamer!
Set name: Vivobook S16
This was worth every penny I spent! I'm a graduate student and a big time gamer, and I wanted a machine that could let me write fanfiction, play fallout, while still being great for professional uses. This hit every note and exceeded all my expectations. The keyboard is easy to read, and the decently sized keys are good for my hands as I have a mild palsy. It was easy to connect to all of my accounts and I had everything I needed set up within two hours. The screen quality is absolutely superb and beautiful. Very true colors and makes my games look awesome. The battery life is decent, but considering the amount of work I put it through, it's very impressive! I use headphones exclusively, but from working so far, the sound quality is quite good. My total opinion is that for someone like me, this laptop has the perfect functionality, ease of use, and excellent performance. 10/10! ... show more

  • Decent little laptop
Set name: Vivobook S16
Overall... it's a decent laptop if you get it on sale. The Ultra 9 285H is more than powerful enough for anything I throw at it (software development). The IO subsystem is a bit slow, but only gamers would care. The OLED screen is nice and bright. Maybe a bit lite on power and screen real estate for heavy duty graphic design, but I've got no problem using Unreal, Unity, 3DS/Max, Adobe suite - though an external monitor is useful for detail work I'm used to a brute power gaming laptop, and this is a big change... the Vivobook is really light, really thin, and really suited to battery ops. I laughed with my wife that it was seemed more suited to a ponytailed teenager. I'm used to working on AC power, but this is so light and battery usage is so good (I limit charge to 80%, and get 4hrs before it gets to 30% and dims down), and recharge is so fast, that I'm getting used to working untethered. I like the USB-C charger - no need for another special purpose power brick under the desk. There are a few things that are annoying, so I'll itemize those: - The USB-A ports appear to be on a single channel. When I saturated one port writing to a fast flash drive, the other port (my wireless mouse) got wonky. - There is no S3 sleep option. NONE. I know this is the new normal, but its really annoying - I can't get used to putting my laptop in a backpack with LEDs still lit. Worse, the Modern Standby (S0) mode is flakey. I've had multiple problems resuming from standby - i.e., BSOD and reboot. Most people don't notice, because it boots fast, but I do. - The UEFI configuration options are sparse... I prefer a BIOS config that exposes *every* possible options... I know that this is also part of the new normal, but I also know that Asus is intentionally NOT exposing config options that could be shown (and are available with alternative firmwares). The 'Advanced' option is more like 'Novice++'. - There is no SLEEP Function key!!!! - There is no Trackpad On/Off Function Key!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - There's no way to map the CoPilot key to something useful... And mapping it to what you CAN, doesn't work right - The backlit keyboard isn't bright enough, and the chicklet key depth is such that the backlight leaking around the key overwhelms the lit key itself (at a normal usage angle). When viewed from above, the leakage goes away, but the key isn't lit enough for a daylight usage. ... show more

  • Worst and Most Expensive Laptop I've Ever Owned — Touchpad Nightmare
Set name: Vivobook S16
I bought this machine expecting premium polish and instead got a daily battle with the touchpad. Typing turns into a guessing game: the cursor leaps across the screen at the slightest brush, entire sentences get highlighted and vanish, and I lose work without warning. It’s not a one-off glitch—it's constant, maddening, and makes basic typing feel impossible. What goes wrong: Cursor jumping: The pointer moves unpredictably while typing, often mid-sentence. Accidental selection and deletion: Whole phrases get highlighted and erased as I keep typing. Overly large touchpad: The pad seems to activate from the slightest contact. Dust and pressure issues: Dust collects in the pad’s edge, and pressing the case sometimes triggers the pad. What I tried Sensitivity lowered and settings tweaked. Drivers were uninstalled and reinstalled using both the manufacturer and Microsoft drivers. Frequent cleaning of the pad edges and blowing out cracks. None of it fixed the core problem—the touchpad still behaves like a live wire. Why this matters I’m tech savvy and patient with troubleshooting, so this isn’t user error. For a device at this price point, basic typing should be reliable. Instead, I spend time babysitting the cursor, cleaning the pad, and retyping lost text. That’s time and money wasted. Bottom line If you type a lot or expect a dependable, premium experience, this laptop will frustrate you. The touchpad issues turn everyday tasks into a chore, and after trying every reasonable fix, I can’t recommend it. ... show more

  • Preferred my zenbook
Set name: Vivobook S16
I had a 14 inch zenbook that I loved. The backlighting on the zenbook is miles better than the bs you get with this vivobook. The build quality of the zenbook also seemed a touch better, and for less cost.

  • Everything was good, I have no complaints, I just think it was a bit expensive.
Set name: Vivobook S16
It is a very good laptop; it has been a few days since I started using it. Everything works well, and the appearance is also very beautiful. And the laptop screen is nice and sharp.
