Top Amazon Reviews

  • Fantastic - handle your expectations
Style: 4GB | 128GB
So after 1.5 months of using this baby for grad school, I'm ready to write my review. I bought this laptop for under $200 including tax to replace my $1000 iPad Pro for school use. I had many issues with the iPad, most notably its software and issues with formatting when using Microsoft Excel. But this review isn't about why I don't like my iPad. Here is my breakdown review of this laptop: I wanted a budget laptop that was not a Chromebook since I use the Microsoft Office suite pretty extensively. Processing power: this laptop is by no means super fast. Web pages and various apps will take a second or two to load. For me, it's not a problem at all but I can see it bothering some people. I'm also able to have many tabs and windows open and multitask pretty frequently and it handles it pretty well. Again, it may take a second or two for windows to react, especially if I'm running multiple things. Graphics power: non-existent so I would not expect to be able to play any games nor have I tried to do so. But! I am able to run CompleteAnatomy, which is a pretty demanding application. It boots slow but once the app is open it runs well enough to get the job done. I do this while also running 4 to 5 other windows/applications so no complaints here. Screen: it looks fine when you look straight at it. Brightness is decent as well as clarity and contrast. Its viewing angles are terrible so if you plan to stream videos or something while lying on your bed it might be a bad choice. But! I love its terrible viewing angles because people around me can't see my screen. It's like a built-in privacy screen. Keyboard: surprisingly responsive. I have no complaints with it at all. If anything I'm mildly impressed. Touchpad: does the job. The touchpad numpad is kind of gimmicky and doesn't work all that great. But I don't need the feature and I use a mouse anyway. Portability: this is where it shines. Extremely light (lighter than my iPad if it's in its case) with a small/discrete charger. I thought the tiny screen would be a problem at first but now I love it. Battery life: very good. It'll last a full day's use (8-10 hours of school) and still hang out at around 25%. Better battery life than my phone and any other laptop I've ever had. Storage: very small. But I exclusively work off of the cloud because I'll bounce between this laptop, my phone, and my PC at home. Nowadays I think local storage isn't as important as before as long as you have internet access. Software/OS: When the laptop first arrived, it prompted an update to Windows 11 followed by a multitude of updates. It was a solid 2.5 hours of just updating. It also came with S mode defaulted, which I later found out was some kind of safety feature that makes all downloads limited to things from the Microsoft Store. That kind of made the laptop unusable and so I was planning to return it but you can opt out of S mode and now it's great. Others: no issues with Wifi or Bluetooth connectivity. I think the notification and focus features are gimmicky but I don't have issues having features I don't plan to use. Overall, for my school use, this laptop is a solid 8/10 for me. If you buy it handling your expectations, this laptop is unbeatable for its price. ... show more

  • Great small value computer. Good for web surfing and light applications
Style: 4GB | 128GB
This is not the quickest computer, but it seems to work well for websurfing and light apps and is small. Doesn't take up hardly any space or doesn't add hardly any weight to my backpack. I like to use it for travel because with the new weight restrictions on carry on items on the airlines and not having to lug around a heavy computer is very nice. And it gives me the ability to get a full desktop web experience rather than using a tablet which is somewhat limited. ... show more

  • PIECE OF JUNK - **READ**
Style: 4GB | 128GB
This laptop sucks! You cannot set it up without setting up Microsoft via an external email account registration or setting up an Outlook email, there's no way to bypass it. I opted for the Outlook email for setup, because I didn't have one already so they wouldn't have access to anything in my current email (I don't trust them) After a gazillion attempts at updates, I figured I would move on, BUT.. once set up, and updated, you're stuck in "S mode" which slows the laptop down considerably! This S mode also won't allow you to download any apps that don't appear in the Microsoft store. You're supposed to be able to disable S mode, by clicking "get" once you go through settings, system etc., but every single time I attempted to disable it, it wouldn't allow me to. I spent hours on this! So, frustrated, I decided to hell with it, I was going to do a system restore to remove all of my private information, but even that was nearly impossible!! It took me over an hour to get it to "system reset" and it sat at 1% forever then kept cancelling itself out and I had to keep reattempting, and I'm honestly not even sure it removed my personal info. Glad I put in a bogus BD in, which it requires, instead of my real one (like that's any of Microsofts business, I'm surprised it didn't ask for blood type and pronouns). Microsoft is like a virus in itself. They want you to use Microsoft and Microsoft only, including the Bing search engine, which is also a crappy product. AINT HAPPENING! I despise this laptop, I'm returning it, I would never recommend it to anyone. Piece of junk! And I own an ASUS laptop that I have had for over 10 years that's still working like a champ, which is what prompted me to buy this one. Nope, nope, nope. Don't buy it! ... show more

  • It sure does do the internet real good
Style: 4GB | 128GB
I've had this thing for 2 days, and boy can I ever use Microsoft Edge and Spotify at the same darn time. For a $200 laptop, you can do basic stuff in a browser. You can bring this baby anywhere and it has a battery that lasts kind of pretty much a long time. Chrome is a little too much for it, so I'm getting acquainted with Microsoft Edge. It's enough to do basic business or student work on. If that's what you want, then by golly that's what you've got. I'm taking this thing to the creek and "working from home" with a fold up chair and my toes in the water. I can write articles, design using Canva, and build websites in Wordpress while listening to music, which is all I need. Thank you, ASUS, for this tiny, tiny affordable laptop that is only good for work stuff. That's exactly what I was looking for! ... show more

  • Does what it says for the price but….
Style: 4GB | 128GB
If you are on a strict budget this is not a bad machine. If you want to teach someone patience this is an excellent machine. Good starter computer for kids. Now I bought this believing it was a new machine. When I tried to register with ASUS I was informed it had already been registered which says this is a used machine. I am not pleased with that. For streaming and simple tasks this is a good machine. It does not multitask that well. Also the screen is a bit small for gmail if you have the emails and the preview screen open together. If you open each mail individually you’ll probably be ok. Very light so good for travel and the battery seems to last fairly long even when streaming. The 128Gb of storage should be good for lost especially if you use a cloud storage service. ... show more
