Description

The ASUS Turbo AMD Radeon™ AI PRO R9700 is built for running large language models and AI workloads locally. RDNA™ 4 architecture with 128 AI Accelerators delivers up to 1,531 TOPS (INT4) for AI inference and fine-tuning, while 32GB of GDDR6 VRAM (256-bit, up to 640GB/s bandwidth) offers significantly more memory capacity than most consumer graphics cards for large AI models and memory-intensive workloads. PCIe® 5.0 support and a 2-slot blower design enable multi-GPU scaling for local AI cluster builds. A diecast shroud and backplate with wave-pattern design reduce memory temperature by up to 16%, while a phase-change thermal pad and dual ball fan bearings deliver consistent, long-term reliability. ASUS GPU Tweak III adds real-time monitoring and overclocking up to 2940MHz, backed by a 3-year limited warranty.

Better Than Nvidia
Style: Turbo Size: R9700|AI|32GB
Better than Nvidia! Almost 2x the VRAM as the nearest Nvidia card. Pros: 1. Fast - Handles heavy workloads quickly. 2. Cool - Heat goes straight out back of case thanks to the blower slot. No need for extra fans. 3. Stable - No crashes using latest drivers. 4. Build Quality - Designed well, solid. Little to no exposed PCB when compared to Nvidia cards. Cons: 1. No power adapter - If you have an older PSU you might need this 20$ component https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BWND5FFG 2. Loud fan - Blower design is to move a lot of heat so I personally dont mind. Conclusion: I highly recommend this GPU after testing the alternatives. ... show more

Great card, worth it imo
Style: Turbo Size: R9700|AI|32GB
Excellent for what I paid. Useful for local LLM and also gaming. Went to 300fps in a game my old 3060 was struggling to stay at 30fps The blower is loud if it gets going, but it actually made my thermals better.

Powerful card, but the factory fan behavior requires correction
Style: Turbo Size: R9700|AI|32GB
The ASUS Radeon AI PRO R9700 performs well, but its factory fan behavior is unsuitable for sustained compute workloads. During continuous load, the GPU hotspot temperature continued rising while the fan actually decreased in speed. The card ultimately reached approximately 91°C hotspot while the fan had fallen to around 42%. After applying a custom hotspot-based fan curve, the same workload stabilized around 80–81°C, with the fan correctly increasing to approximately 63–67%. Both of my ASUS cards required this adjustment. Buyers should be prepared to create a custom cooling configuration, especially in dense multi-GPU systems. On Linux, this may require enabling AMD Overdrive support and using software such as LACT. The cards perform well once configured, but I would not rely on the factory fan behavior for sustained AI or compute workloads. I also reduced it by another start due to not having a cable adapter that other's supply (ASRock). ... show more

Excellent card for local AI applications
Style: Turbo Size: R9700|AI|32GB
Fantastic card for running local LLMs. Card looks sleek and performs well. That said, as with most blower style coolers the card gets very loud during heavy / moderate workloads and I would NOT recommend you use this card in an office machine. In a remote machine it's great.

Terrible software.
Style: Turbo Size: R9700|AI|32GB
Terrible software. Absolutely wild that an "AI" branded card forces Windows for BIOS updates. Then you scrounge up an old SSD to install Windows on only for the utility to claim "Update Not Needed" and that "VBIOS is already up to date" while you're deafened by the fan spinning at 30% when the changelog on the bios update utility claims to lower it. To fix it, I had to extract the "update" exe with 7-zip, then run amdvbflash.exe to directly flash the "*AS07*" BIOS. The card is quiet at rest now, but still very loud under load. Full instructions (originally from `dmnfarrell`'s github): 1. `amdvbflash.exe -i`, note the device ID (for me it was 1 as I have second GPU, but it'll probably be 0 for most people) 2. `amdvbflash.exe -s <device id> backup.rom` 3. `amdvbflash.exe -p <device id> BIOS/7551OG.23.8.0.68.AS07.rom` (or newer file if they've released additional bios by the time you read this review) Stay away. For the price, might as well go with a brand that doesn't treat AMD like an afterthought like Sapphire, PowerColor, or XFX instead. ... show more

Great value for $1300

Sadly the price has gone up but this card is great for vLLM+ROCm in the home. The blower is a bit loud though
