  • Solid so far, great BIOS menu
Style: TUF B550M-PLUS Gaming
I have always had great luck with TUF products, and this one was no exception. The full-size SSD slot comes with a built-in heat sink, which is cool, and I really like how all the SATA ports are lined-up together on the bottom. This way, it's impossible for a modern GPU to cutoff your access to those ports, as has been the design with other Micro-ATX boards that I've tried (including the GIGABYTE B550M AORUS Elite AX, which has them all grouped on the right directly in the path of an oncoming GPU). The board hasn't given me any random crashes or weird blue-screens when fiddling with the Wifi settings as the Gigabyte board did, and that's part of the reason I specifically bought this one which has no integrated Wifi. I think integrated Wifi is problematic more often than not. Instead, I picked-up a sleek little TP-Link AC600 WiFi Card for the PCIe slot, which looks cool and fit perfectly, and best of all it worked right away without having to install any drivers. However, if I need to 'get out' of an online situation really fast, I can just pull it out - unlike integrated Wifi. And lest I fail to mention - TUF Bios is the absolute best. Such an improvement over Gigabyte. Gigabyte doesn't even remember which drive you set as your primary boot choice (in the case of multi-boot systems), and I was constantly having to juggle back and forth. The minor LED lighting strip they have is really cool too, and I like how the color scheme defaults to "rainbow cycle" (only because I think it looks cool). The one complain I have is that you can't just turn down the darn brightness in the Bios settings, and so far for me, I can't get the Aura Sync app to work! I've downloaded and installed all the different versions of Armoury Crate (lite, full install, what have you), and none of them will simply just open and take me to the controls. They just sit there and act like they're opening until I close them or shutoff my computer. So, there's always a tradeoff. However, Signal RGB did work, but I just don't like how much they overcomplicate the lighting process so I didn't use them. OpenRGB also works, but I can't just adjust the brightness, so I'm back to square one on that. However, not enough of an issue to deduct a star, I'm just grateful to have a well-designed and dependable motherboard. ... show more
