  • Good board, but has some shortcomings
Not enough fan headers (fan+opt+2) for a gaming board. The backplate doesn't have much allowance for offsets so it won't fit properly unless you use mounting screws of a specific height, in my case it ended up pushing against the flashback button and I had to drill a bigger hole in the plate. Qfan won't support DC regulated fans lower than 50% for some unknown reason, so if you use 3pin case fans they're going to sound like a blow-dryer. Otherwise board runs stable. I also have an Aurous pro p, which is a superior board at around the same price. There are better options out there at a cheaper price now that AM4 is end of life, so you should be able to find some good deals on b550s. One quick note, they moved the pciex16 one slot away from the CPU to make room for the m.2 and a bigger sink, but this means that if you have a compact case, your 2+ slot GPU is going to sit really close to your PSU, and that will completely choke the airflow if you don't have a blower-style cooler. Higher tier Amperes run really hot, so make sure you take airflow into consideration when building matx form factor. ... show more

  • Decent MB but the Aura has issues imo
I really wanted to love this MB. I've used MSI mostly for years, but decided to give this a try. Really bummed to find that the AURA doesn't recognize either my AMD Prizm cooler or MSI 1660 Super GPU RBG, so I cannot make a really cool custom RGB show. Otherwise, I would have given this 5 stars, especially for the money. Everything is much faster on this board than my B450 was. I added a Crucial P5 Plus 4.0 M.2 and it blazes! Running a Ryzen 7 3700x and 32GB DRAM, this board scores higher than the same hardware on my old MSI 450 except the SSD (i had a regular P5 prior). This really is a decent board if you don't require BT or WiFi and have a Ryzen CPU. I'll update if I have any issues. Oh, I'm not a a fan of their RAM overclocking in BIOS either. The GIU in the BIOS is kinda sloppy imo. ... show more

  • Used for upgrading old system
Bought this to upgrade my portable gaming pc, couldn't be happier. This paired with a new CPU made my portable gaming PC actually usable for games. I did also have to get a wifi card, but the mobo is great

  • Good board but not for the beginner
I've been building computers for years now and bought this motherboard to use in retro-gaming. I have 16gb DDR4 with NVME boot disk and CPU with built in video as that is basically what is required (Ryzen 5-5600G processor). The BIOS is a little hard to work with as it is not as "friendly" as other UEFI setups. I still cannot find how to set up memory XMP configuration to match the frequency of the DDR4 sticks. I did set the speed to 3200 (what I have) but not the timings and all the misc. specs that would be included in a simple selection of XMP 1 or 2. Oh well, at least it is running at 3200 instead of 2200mhz. Not the friendliest BIOS but seems to be fine for what I need. Don't know how it would be for video editors or content creators but for retro-gaming it'll pass. Sure beats a Raspberry Pi :-) ... show more

  • After a few days, 2 thumbs up
The product seems well built and durable. The CPU-less, memory-less BIOS flash utility is a must for new Zen3 CPUs - otherwise you're going to have to find an old CPU to plug in, just to update the bios. Onboard POST indicator lights were a great touch when troubleshooting lack of screen (turns out, my graphics card power wasn't plugged in completely!). Had no problems with drivers, everything just worked in windows 10. I did not notice a difference before or after I installed some specific drivers. Haven't tried any other operating systems yet. Potential buyers should be aware that only one of the 2 M.2 slots is connected to the PCIe 4.0 bus - the other is on a 3.0 bus. This is a B550 chipset limitation. There's a few other limitations of the B550 compared with the high end X570 so do your research and understand what you're getting. You might want to consider getting the B550M+ Wifi instead, which for under $20 more comes with what is theoretically a high quality wifi. I don't use wifi on my gaming rig, but regret not getting the wifi unit anyway, for flexibility. ... show more

  • Amazing motherboard for the 5600X
Have had this for a little over a year and a half. Currently have CPU at 4.75ghz undervolt -25 pbo limits ppt 100/tdc 65/edc 135 with ram and IF at 1900mhz. This board is able to handle everything I throw at, the VRM's are amazing for Ryzen processors, esp 3rd gen. I feel the price is too high atm with some of the offerings for Intel, esp the 12400K with z690, bbut that is niether here nor there really. This is a great board and is still working flawlessly. ... show more

  • Probably could be the best mATX but...
It is very capable with a good BIOS and was easy to set up. The Flashback feature works great for updating BIOS, or retrograding when the built-in utility won't allow it. Lots of USB ports on the back panel; although it lacks an internal Type C port my case doesn't have one either so no loss. It has a good and very robust VRM that should easily handle a high core-count CPU even for overclocking. But the experience might be unpleasant as the board lacks a temperature readout on the CPU VRM. That's a major omission as the DIGI+ VRM controller definitely has it available but Asus simply chose not to expose it for monitoring. Another annoying omission is lack sensor readout of voltage applied to DDR4 DIMM's, so no way to verify they're getting correct voltage. These are no-cost-savings choices on their part that only creates customer disenchantment and makes it easy to consider the competition for the next purchase. ... show more
