  • Asus gl752vw-dh74 decent machine, decent price
Decided to go with this as an upgrade for my Asus G74sx. Received the laptop and it fired up with no problems. The fan port is on the side and runs hot when playing games. I will be finding a laptop cooling fan I will probably go with this one.http://www.amazon.com/iKross-15-Gaming-Powerful-Cooling/dp/B00WMCUHCA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1459293844&sr=8-4&keywords=laptop+cooling+pad+17.3 . I chose this one over the Asus gl552 because of being able to upgrade the ram farther. From what I read the max for the Gl552 is 16gb and the Gl752 is 32gb. Pro's: It starts up fast with the Os being on the m.2 drive. 2. Easy to upgrade, a few screws and you can upgrade the drive or ram. 3. 6th gen Skylake i7 processor, my G74sx had a 2nd gen skylake i7 and I had very little trouble. 3. Screen looks very nice and would be good for anyone doing artwork or video editing. 4. Installed Blade and Soul, ran max settings at 1900x1080p rez and didn't didn't even blink. 80+ fps. Had some lag but will address in Cons section. 5. Backlit keyboard looks nice. Cons: The sides of the machine are cluttered, Would have liked to have the power plug in the rear and another usb in its place. The fan port is on the bottom and the exaust on the left side. I am left handed so I hope my hand doesn't get too hot. But that is just my situation. 2. This laptop comes with some bloatware. 3. Received major lag with Blade and Soul, even though it registered 80+ fps. Had to shut off Asus Gaming First program to fix it. Now it runs smooth. Not sure how that program would react with other games, but I have heard in the forums at asus that it has its issues. 4. Would have loved to have a touch screen with this. 5. When gaming it does expel a lot of hot air out of the left port when gaming, I will be buying a laptop cooling pad. prob this one http://www.amazon.com/iKross-15-Gaming-Powerful-Cooling/dp/B00WMCUHCA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1459293844&sr=8-4&keywords=laptop+cooling+pad+17.3 Overall I like this laptop and its thinner than my previous asus rog by about a half an inch. Would have like a reg g752 with dual exaust ports but it was out of my price range. ... show more

  • Great Gaming Laptop
Amazing gaming computer right out of the box. I really enjoy the sleek look of it and the beautiful red accents that surround it. It took no time at all to set up and the solid state drive (SSD) proved to be wonderful with a quick start up. The computer is really fast and has plenty of storage on the main hard drive. The WiFi works really well and I have no problem with the other functions of the computer. I really like the smaller power supply as it makes it easier to set up at home when I am not traveling around. The graphics card is perfect and will play just about any new game with top graphics. The large screen is great and I am happy I went with the larger size. It is a little on the heavy side being such a large laptop but I have seen much heavier models as well so I don't have too much to complain about. The only problems I have run into is the placement of the power button (or key) and the fact it does get a little warm under the keys if you start playing a newer more demanding game. I purchased a separate laptop cooler just to help it run better and it keeps the keyboard cooler. And the power button I only bump occasionally. Overall I really enjoy this product and would recommend it to your above average gamer for sure. ... show more

  • A great all-around laptop with outstanding support
I bought this laptop in July 2106 to replace a Toshiba Satellite that I was very unhappy with. This was to be my primary work laptop, though its ability to play games would be a nice plus. :-) Compared to my old Toshiba, this ASUS was a dream: fast, clean, well-behaved. It was a night-and-day improvement over my old Toshiba. Frankly, in a year of using it, I only had two minor complaints. First, my HDMI port has become slightly flaky. I use a second HD monitor when I've got the laptop in the office, and the weight of the HDMI cable coming in occasionally causes the signal to be lost. Second, the e-net port does _not_ want to let go of the e-net cable; the top (flat) edge of the cable gets caught in the port, and every time I try to unplug the e-net cable, I'm worried I'm going to break something. Just two weeks short of having the laptop for year, it suddenly died (on a business trip, no less). It just would not power up, even though it had been fully charged and working just fine when I shut it down, unplugged it, and put it in my briefcase that morning. I contacted ASUS support and got a very fast response and an RMA number; furthermore, they told me that since it was still within the 1 year warranty, shipping to and from ASUS would be pre-paid by them. I removed, backed up, and reinstalled my SSD and HDD (just to be safe), got the mailing label (FedEx Ground) from ASUS, and shipped it off. I dropped it off at FedEx on a Friday; ASUS got it on Monday; they shipped it back on Tuesday; I got it back on Thursday, and it's worked just fine ever since. In nearly 40 years of owning PCs, I don't think I've ever had that kind of support and turnaround. I was really torn between giving this 4 stars and 5 stars. The issue with the two ports is annoying, and -- after all -- the laptop died on its own. On the other hand, the tech support from ASUS was outstanding. I would absolute recommend ASUS and will continue to buy ASUS laptops going forward. So take that for what it's worth. ... show more
