  • great gaming laptop
Style: 17.3" 300Hz
i am an almost 61 year old female gamer. i was shopping for a slightly cheaper gaming laptop but my son urged me to get the best i could afford. i am very happy with this rog laptop and it replaces an older rog which i have loved for about 5 years. it took some in depth tweaking by my son to enable my favorite games skyrim and fallout 4 to run. the problem seems to be they do not want to work at 300hz. this is very strange since i am able to play fallout new vegas at 300hz with no problems. so the graphics for skyrim and fallout 4 are the same quality as my old laptop but the graphics on new vegas are incredible. after more tweaking i am now able to play all my games without any problems. i love how lightweight this new asus is and the new cooling system but i will have to get used to the loud cooling fans. today is only my 3rd day of ownership and i am still getting used to the forward placement of the keyboard. my fingers keep hitting the wrong keys but i think this keyboard will be better for my arthritic left shoulder when playing games for more than a couple of hours at a time. another feature that i really like is the ability to use a type c power source. i will be ordering that very soon. ... show more

  • Fair value for it specs, solid all around laptop.
Style: 17.3" 300Hz
I purchased the 300hz 2070 super model for 2600 (including tax). It is not cheap, but not overpriced given 2020 release date and specs. I feel I paid the fair price for a new high-end gaming laptop and I'm not disappointed with the performance. That said, the 300hz monitor is hardly ever useful; unless you are lowering your graphic settings. You will not be able to reach 300FPS with high graphics in most of modern games, even in games like League of Legend you are only able to achieve 180~240FPS depending on saturation. Aesthetic wise, this is a great looking laptop, and 17 inch monitor is great for gaming and content viewing. It is safe to say battery life is horrible, but that is the standard for a thin gaming laptops. Webcam isn't included, which is not too big of a concern if you have a separate work laptop for meetings. Overall, if you buy this now, you get what you pay for: a premium for high end Asus gaming laptop + competent specs for running many games at reasonably good frames. If you wait 6 months to a year, you will most likely be able to get this unit under $2000. ... show more

  • I like it
Style: 17.3" 300Hz
The laptop does run very hot if gaming but it's not a big deal as the heat is between the keyboard and the screen. I like the everything about this system with the exception of one one SSD slot, wish it hard a second free slot.

  • I love this laptop ( used for gaming and programming ).
Style: 17.3" 300Hz
I love that the keyboard sits up front, for programmers that type all day this is a must. 10/10 The keyboard quality is good-not-great. If you're hoping for a mechanical keyboard I think Acer Triton 900 is the best option. 8.5/10 The graphics are amazing, I've only had one or two games stutter at max settings. 9/10 The design feels great, quality of materials are good, the raised bottom does well to keep it cool. Strangely though the USB ports are awful, very hard to get the USB A plugs to plug in. The rest are fine, just the USB A ports. 6.5/10 Battery life is incredible for what it is I played for almost 45 minutes a graphics intensive game without realizing it was unplugged. 9.5/10 Overall 9/10 I love it. ... show more

  • Be prepared for quality issue and even worse warranty support
Style: 17.3" 300Hz
I bought the top of the line GX531 gaming laptop with RTX 2070 graphics card. The fan started to make clunking noise only a month later. Right before warranty expiration, I submitted RMA and sent it back for repair. I detailed the issue in RMA and request them to REPLACE the fan, since many people on a laptop forum had similar issue, and mentioned it had to be replaced. A month later it was 'repaired' and sent back. Only a week later, the fan noise came back and hunting me like a ghost everyday since then. Fast forward six months, the noise become so loud that I have to shut down the laptop, and restart it. It may make it better, or not. So I reached out to Asus support again, requesting a RMA. I stressed that this is a lingering issue because Asus didn't replace the fan at first attempt. However, after going back and forth with the CS for almost a hour, he initially agreed to issue RMA, then changed his mind a couple mins later, and ask me to pay for 'DIAGNOSTIC FEE' of 85 bucks first. I was laughing because I have done that for Asus already, twice. I tried my best to make this right and reasonable, but the CS kept asking for payment. I didn't know what made him back-stepping on earlier agreement. So now, I'm trying to look for replacement parts on eBay and AliExpress, and hopefully I can get a good fan first. Will I ever buy an ASUS laptop? Yes, only if it's dirty cheap. After your purchase, be prepared for these quality issues and the hustle of dealing with Asus support/repair. ... show more

  • Watch the warranty. Dead at 14 months.
Style: 17.3" 300Hz
Died without warning or sign of issues. Fails to recognize any power source at 14 months old. Contacted Asus they inform me the warranty started 3 months before my bill of sale. Currently sitting on a shelf as of July 4th weekend 2022. Have yet to find someone who I can afford to look at it to see if it can be repaired. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for 👍
Style: 17.3" 300Hz
I have had this laptop for a few months and it is a superior laptop for gaming and video editing, don't have it on your lap if you're playing any demanding games as it tends to get hot. That being said on a table or a cooling pad it works great and I have never had an issue with temps playing on the highest settings. Its cpu is strong enough to play more cpu heavy games and the graphics card keeps up with everything releasing now. It is a bit pricey but like I said you get what you pay for, a damn good portable gaming setup. ... show more
