  • Good deal and great customer service
I am extremely happy with this purchase. The laptop blows away my last one (ROG GL752VW). I love being able to customize the backlight and aura too. The price was about what I expected for this model. As soon as I placed the order I received a message from the seller letting me know they were getting everything ready to ship out. I haven't had a seller reach out to me in, well... I can't remember how long! They even responded to my reply to that message. This is a seller that cares and works at customer service. If they ever have something else that I'm looking for I am absolutely buying from them. ... show more

  • Top performance for gaming
Ordered the exact same laptop from Walmart and it got “lost”. It was a nightmare. Why I even used Walmart instead of Amazon to order my son’s laptop is beyond me. Anyways sellers great laptops great and my teenager is happy. Perfect for gaming. The performance is a ten.

  • Save yourself some pain and don't
This PC is straight up complete junk. I've always veered towards ASUS computer components because I've had great success with them, I thought that would translate into a good laptop. Boy was I wrong. If you buy this thing be prepared to spend a LOT of time getting it configured to do what it is supposed to without crashing or freezing constantly. It probably took me a month to sort out all of the issues to get games to play reliably. The computer comes with a system wide hitching problem, which honestly took a really long time to figure out was even happening, I thought input was lagging or I was missing key or mouse clicks. So protip, make sure all the NVidia applications and tools are installed because it does not come with everything installed on it that it needs and should have, but it does have a lot of annoying bloatware. I still have a lot of issues with it as well. If I close the lid, the laptop maxes out the fans and will not awake from sleep, requiring you to always do a hard reboot, which in turn can causes significant issues, and has caused me significant issues and forced me into hours long hard drive repairs. This happens EVERYTIME. The only way around these sleep issues is to shut the computer off, and you can't do it through the start menu, that hasn't turned off Windows machines for a couple years now. The old shutdown dialogs are still accessible by pressing Alt + F4 when focused on the desktop. This thing is also a power hungry beast, which was expected. But beware, you really can't play games on this for more than 30 or so minutes before needing to plug in. When games do work it does alright, the graphics card has similar performance to the GTX 1080 in my desktop computer (I'm late to the update party). The keyboard however is utter garbage, I feel like I'm drunk typing on it because the keys just don't register input that well, very rubbery keys with membrane register it seems. So don't expect to do much highly competitive games or games that require precision. I find that I tend to focus on games that work with a controller when using it, and then when I can I switch to my MacBook for KBM games, or go sit back at my desktop. I think the price for this computer is probably fair, ignoring the significant issues you have to work through and live with. But if you are not good at computer configurations, manipulating the BIOS, or capable of figuring out how to fix incredibly obscure problems with computers, go with something else or you're going to be in tears. If I could get a refund for this thing I would do it in a heartbeat. ... show more

  • Runs perfect for gaming
I’ve had this laptop for a few months now it’s runs great. No issues with Bluetooth or WiFi connections. I mainly play BO6 and story mode games I usually have Spotify and discord running while I play it runs perfect. I recommend keeping the laptop plugged in while you’re using it.

  • My 2nd Fav Laptop
tldr; Not the greatest laptop ever, but it is up there, even though some minor annoyances. And oh, it lights up! Delivery Date 3-28-23 : Thankfully the product didn't look as beat up as the box. Which once you open it, the box will elevate the laptop for you, which was pretty cool. Strix G17 2023 looks and feels aesthetically amazing, which based on that alone it gets a 6 out of 5. Especially if you got to stare at your laptop all day like me. I still miss the fighter-jet design of the older ones though. However trying to change batteries, and removing the back compartment. Is more troubling-some than older version of ROG laptops. Then you keep getting this pop up about having to buy extended warranty, when Asurion's warranty offer is better. So that is very disappointing, considering the price point. Because I'm expecting this to last 10 years with heavy use, like my old ROG laptop. Taking that into consideration, I just hope I don't have to get into the back compartment often, and it lasts long enough, so I can happily get my money's worth. They decided to combine the home and end button, which I'm not a fan of. But if you like slim laptops, this is very slim compared to older ROG laptops. However not as slim as their Zephrus line and MSI's Katana. Lastly my bios times is about 10secs, with all start up apps turned off, plus samsung 990pro, but I don't have a clean install of windows 11. My older ROG laptop had a boot time of 3s, plus samsung qvo, with its start up apps on, but it was a clean window 10 install. That had me worried, considering the specs on my new laptop. So you might need to do a clean install and get rid of a lot of the junk or maybe windows 11 just has bad startup times. Will update if anything goes wrong. PS: Also, don't forget to charge it up first, before turning it on for its' first time. UPDATE 4-18-23: Been trying to troubleshoot a annoying random occurrence where either the laptop display or rgb light, will flicker once really quick. It did this when I first boot it up, but figured it was just a driver issue. And once I update all the software it would stop. Unfortunately it hasn't, and I've managed to get the problem down to 2 things. Worst case scenario it is a hardware issue, best case scenario it is a app on the laptop that needs to be uninstalled because it is not compatible. Another thing to mention is RAM (I've Included a new picture showing it). I actually had to contact Asus Live directly through MyAsus. To figure out what type of ram to upgrade and I also crossed check this with their website, which says "8GB DDR5-4800 SO-DIMM x 2, Max Capacity: 32GB." Which means 16GB DDR5-4800 SO-DIMM x2, would be the best you can buy. The default ones you get are Micron, the same owner of Crucial. However I went to Micron's site and checked what was compatible with my laptop, and was informed the "2-16GB DDR5-5600 SODIMM 1.1V CL46" would work just fine. Not only that, but it would work on a 4800MHz and 5200MHz rig because it will adjust itself to your mobo' speed. I finally got it today and popped them in, but was shocked to see that I'm actually getting the 5200MHz speed. Apps are loading and performing slightly better and faster, when I have multiple of them open. UPDATE 5-23-23: If you plan on watching netflix. You might want another laptop. I've had no way of figuring out why it will only stream on laptop at 720p max and will stutter every now and then, regardless if it is edge or netflix app from microsoft store. Also recently had some skipping keystrokes issue with laptop, that can be somewhat fixed by updating the keyboard driver. Lastly, laptop will freeze once coming out of hibernation mode or it randomly restarts for no reason, ultimately I had to disable that feature. I'm definitely annoyed with it a little bit at this point, but become happy when I boot up a game, and it can run it no problem, with high graphics at 60fps. Worked perfectly on Nioh 2, Forspoken, and Blade & Soul. Once I travel with it, I can give a battery update later. UPDATE 7-4-23: Whatever recent update that was sent out, made the flickering stop. I'm assuming it could have been a combination of Armory Crate and some other major functioning OEM program, but regardless I'm happy I don't see that flickering everyday. Missing keystrokes seems to be slightly fixed as well, it doesn't happen as much. However, do watch out for the random restarts and system freezes, if it starts doing that, you will have to troubleshoot it. My older laptop rarely froze and almost never randomly restart. Just like the prior issues, I hope that is fixed through software updates. Lastly, if you used mastered card to buy this laptop, it has recently gone through a 240$ price drop, make sure you use your price match benefit. UPDATE 4-2-25: Since my last update, netflix now works on it. But, if it ever does a update, when you are not watching it, or forget to do a update, it will randomly freeze in sleep/hibernate mode, and will not come out of it. Unless you hold down the power button, and then you have to check on everything to see if a update is needed, ranging from Armoury Crate, to Windows Update, and any software you installed. I've also had to turn off faststartup because it causes random problems, which is annoying because I would like to use this feature. The keyboard skipping keys never got fixed, and I figured it out, because it isn't a mechanical keyboard, so I had to switch over to one. Definitely disappointing when you start to travel. Speaking of which, you are getting a maximum of 4 hours of battery life even if you turn down the brightness to zero, and use energy efficient mode. At least Its audio capability is awesome when I'm playing spotify music, whether you use the internal speakers, usb headphones, or external to a speaker, it all sounds great. This will probably be my last update, unless something significantly changes. I really hope my detailed review helped everyone out. ... show more
