This laptop is almost perfect in it's design but let's save that part for later. Everything is else is great Now let's delve into general details First off, i bought this laptop about 3 months ago for the sole purpose of multitasking,all around geeky needs and because my asus g73jh 17 inch laptop i bought on ebay a couple years ago was beginning to feel underwhelming in my voodoo palms as it only had 1 gig of graphics memory ati radeon 5800 i believe which is rather old not to mention the hard drive which was beginning to show signs of failure, wasn't surprised because i bought it used with outdated bios that i had to fix myself. As a college student, i wanted something to focus all my geeky tendencies during the summer and after so i browsed around and stumbled upon this gem and believe me when i say asus's one of the best computer manufacturers out there. I still plan on using my asus g73jh as soon as i install a new hard drive. The ASUS ROG GL552VW is a great computing device Plays everything i throw at it from Wolfenstein 3D to The award wining, visually stunning The Witcher 3 The 16 gig really helps for multitasking well as of 2017(things will undoubtedly change later on) Just blazing fast The metallic finish's really sleek and moderately dust resistant but it's not scratch resistant so please don't play catch with it, i'd probably gouge my heart and eyes out if someone dropped it on concrete right in front of me. The keyboard's very smooth and tactile The speakers are average compared to my asus g73jh but that's to be expected as it has a built in sub-woofer The Geforce GTX 960m is a pretty reliable graphics card Now as for it's slight but acceptable imperfection which i shall describe thoroughly The keyboard section of the laptop's not exactly finger print resistant but it's hardly noticeable due to it's black finish but it's definitely not moisture resistant so you probably don't wanna jump to it right after a gruesome work out or have sticky things next to the keyboards as they will likely mess up the keys over time but we don't want that do we. The keys attract moisture so use on dry surface All in all, it a great laptop and thats something coming from a portable/laptop enthusiast Hope i cleared any doubts you may have had, THANK YOU AND HAVE A GOOD DAY OR NIGHT (sorry for long essay btw). ... show more

    • Great Overall Laptop - Requires some work upon arrival
Style: 1TB+128GB SSD | Nvidia GTX 960M w 4GB VRAM
As of this writing, I've had this laptop for about three weeks. It's been great so far, and I shall summarize the main points I have about this product below. PROS: - Incredibly powerful specs for its price. This thing can run anything I've thrown at it so far, and it can multitask easily, although I haven't run any incredibly demanding programs on it yet. - The SSD is worth it. I left only the OS on it to prevent it from becoming clogged, and the startup time is literally seconds because of it. - The battery life is decent considering the power of this machine. If used for gaming, you would want it plugged in anyway, and I've found it can last up to five hours if placed on power saver for simple web browsing and such. - I live in a very dusty area, and I haven't faced the fingerprint problem others have mentioned. It also ships with a small cleaning cloth. - I had this product shipped internationally via a 3rd party shipping company, and it was packaged well by Amazon and was not damaged on the trip. CONS: - This is the most important point, and why there are many negative reviews here. The graphics card drivers pre-installed on this laptop are for Windows 8, and this laptop is shipped as Windows 10. This can lead to black screens and crashes if not addressed immediately. Upon setting up the laptop, you must go to the Nvidia website and download the latest drivers available. The built-in program can not be used for this initial install, but it will update automatically after that. i didn't face any of these crashes myself, but I suspect this is the main reason others have. Check other reviews for a more detailed description of how to do this. - As mentioned above, the battery life isn't amazing while doing heavy work, lasting approx. two hours. - I understand that the SSD could be bought separately and installed for a cheaper price, but I personally wasn't in the mood for the hassle. - The power button is a normal key on the top right of the keyboard. This hasn't affected me, but it may annoy others. - Some bloatware is pre-installed, but this is normal and it is easily removed. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase, and I would recommend it to anyone who can get around the initial setup. ... show more
