  • Underwhelming and unstable
TLDR; Board performance is meh, hard to configure BIOS/UEFI, marginal QA, excessive price tag, VRM appears weak and unstable, long boot times. ASUS used to be the gold standard in the early 2000s but lately I have been quite offended by how bad their products are and I dont even want to mention the complete lack of customer support. This is the last Asus product I will be buying. Avoid this board in particular. Before this non-overclocked board just died mid-sentence in a Teams chat, I had nothing but problems with this MB similar but even worse than my previous experience with Ass-us. Paired with my Ryzen9 7900X3D and 4070Ti Super the framerates I was getting were rather meh for most titles considering the hardware. (Fortnite 4K frames were around 30-50 for reference and I scaled back to 1080) Im not interested in RBG lighting so the fact that this did not work ever at all out of box did not bother me. What really makes me downvote this product is the plethora of problems I had prior to sudden mid-sentence death, very similar to my previous Asus experience although this is my first spontaneous self destruct I have ever experienced in my 20+ years of PC building. Something you would expect from budget boards, but not the "premium" brand. Continuing my issues, the UEFI BIOS setup process is very "clunky" and settings seem to either have no effect on system performance (except to reduce stability) and turning on/off RGB did absolutely nothing. RGB never worked out of box but that did not bother me. Might bother others so I mention it. Additionally, the memory timings never held stable above 5400 despite having EXPO rated 6000 CL32 memory on the mfr list of approved modules. Another disappointment. But wait, there's more... I got this board instead of the numerous lower cost boards because I invested a chunk back in the day for a PCIE Raid drive that can use 8 channels so the 8/8 configuration sold me. Despite working great on my super old 8th gen Intel box, when this drive was installed on this MB, I would sometimes fail to boot and if I was able to get all the way into the OS, I could expect a crash/reboot within hours. Combine these with the obnoxiously long boot times, and the fact that this MB just died right in the middle of typing a teams message and you have a real turd product. Spend your money on another vendor and save yourself a ton of grief. I gotta end this review to go buy another MB. Thanks again Ass-us. Dont let the door hit ya... ... show more
