  • Absolutely amazing graphics card, well worth the price!
Style: ROG STRIX Size: Boost Clock 1835 MHz
I purchased the boost clock 1835 MHz version of this graphics card and could not be happier with my purchase. I will not have to upgrade my card for a very, very long time. I currently have a Ryzen 5 1600 cpu with 16GB 3200 DDR4 RAM to go with the gpu. Pros: - (Cooling) The cooling on this thing is amazing. I have an open case with good airflow, but had issues with cooling on my previous card. Even running a full stress test, this thing never got over 78 C. It usually runs about 65C - 70C in most games on Ultra settings. - (Noise) Even with the amazing cooling, this thing runs very quiet compared to other cards I've used. It's slightly audible when not using headphones, but even then it's barely a distraction. My tower sits right next to me and I'm very happy with the noise level of the fans, even when they're running high speed. - (Drivers and RGB) The drivers are incredibly easy to download and the software to change the RGB is very easy to use. The lighting on this unit looks beautiful and you can even customize it to change and react to audio playing on your computer. I have an RGB build and this was a fantastic addition to my build. - (Performance) I cannot be happier with the performance of this gpu. There's a reason it's such a popular card: this thing is a BEAST. I play games like the Witcher 3 and Overwatch on Ultra settings (1440/144Hz) and have never dipped under 60FPS. In Overwatch, I average ~200 FPS and the Witcher ~80 FPS. I plan to overclock the card later, so this is with base clock. Cons: - (Price) Currently while writing this review we are amidst the cryptocurrency mining hype, and gpus are both hard to find and incredibly expensive as a result. I luckily purchased mine before Amazon went out of stock, but I would not pay more than $600 for this card. I've seen it as high as $780 and that is honestly just a ridiculous price. If it's that high, be patient. For that price you may as well invest in a 1080ti. I have attached photos of my build so you can see the RGB of the card, and will post performance benchmarks later. ... show more

  • Probably the best GPU I have ever owned.
Style: ROG STRIX Size: Boost Clock 1835 MHz
I purchased this Asus GTX 1080 way back in June of 2018. It is now November of 2024. This card has never given me any sort of trouble and can even handle extremely recent games like Space Marine 2, Helldivers 2, and Baldur's Gate 3 just fine. I felt like finally leaving a review because I am about to upgrade to a RTX 4070 ti Super OG OC, and only because I wanted to put the GTX 1080 into a build for my little sister. She's on some sort of refurbished business potato that makes me cry inside. My frankenbuild will allow her to play some newer games at an acceptable resolution and frame rate. If you are on a very itty bitty budget, I would 100% recommend this card as a good starting point for a gaming PC. Try to find it around $100-ish or so on the used market. ... show more

  • it is easily one of the second fastest cards out there
Style: ROG STRIX Size: Boost Clock 1835 MHz
Hello, first here is a disclaimer. "I am receiving points in the ROG Elite Rewards loyalty program for my review". This graphics card is a beast. I recently built a custom enthusiast gaming PC with the most premium parts I have ever personally utilized. So, given that, I consider this video card the heart of my Rig. While it isn't the fastest video card on the market, it is easily one of the second fastest cards out there, and Asus sure knows how to build a premium video card. If you read the reviews on this card, you will learn that it is actually very quiet. I have yet to hear all three fans spin. At idle, the back fan will occasionally spin; however, when it does, the RPM's are so low that I barely hear it. And I said, "occasionally". Sometimes the fan does not spin at all. Since it is the summer, and I do not have AC, my motherboard ambient temperature creeps up a bit. When this happens, the back fan spins some. At night, when it has cooled off, the ambient temperature decreases and the fan does not spin at all. When gaming, this card still doesn't produce a lot of noise. I've witnessed two fans engage but not all three yet, and when the two fans engage, the RPM's still are relatively low. Asus did a great job with the heat pipes. The video card comes overclocked out of the box. So far, I have had no need to overclock it any further. I am not a heavy gamer. Sure, I do game, but I do not own tons of games yet so keep this in mind when reading my review. Others on here who are really a gaming enthusiast may have better information for you. For my purposes, this video card is almost over-kill. I really mean that. This video card is a beast. I love ASUS products. When building my PC, I purchased the ROG Crosshair VII Hero (Wi-Fi) to be the "body" of my Rig. Due to this, the motherboard and video card operate seamlessly. The software for both the motherboard and video card compliment each other. If you purchase this product, I don't believe you will be disappointed. If you have the money, sure, the Asus nVidia 1080ti would be nice. I had the money, and believe it or not, I opted to not spend almost a $1,000 on that video card. I just didn't see the need to spend that kind of money on a video card that I would never fully utilize. Does that make sense? Like I said in my review, for my purposes, this video card has all the oomph I will ever need, and it is still possibly more powerful for what I do on my Rig. I hope this review helps some of you make a decision! ... show more
