  • Best Laptop For The Price
Style: 512GB SSD
I've been in IT for over 24 years and for the last 16 years, I've been a private IT consultant. I need a powerful, light laptop with a long battery life and this laptop does not disappoint! I've been using it for a couple months now and it's just as rugged and useful as every other laptop I've ever owned but it's a fraction of the size and weight. I thought the screen size might be an issue being it's so small, but the clarity is amazing and I really don't notice the difference. Only once in a while do I need to enlarge something or put on my cheaters to see the screen, but that is very rare, and usually only for fine print. Like my other Asus laptops, the performance is top notch and every bit as fast as I expect (and need). The battery life is absolutely amazing - traditional laptops I usually have to charge every 4-6 hours or so. I spent the last 2 days at a client (about 19 hours in total) and only had to charge it near the end of the 2nd day (was showing 1.5 hours left after roughly 17 hours of run time). I use this with a Bluetooth wireless mouse and that works flawlessly as well. Finally, someone had mentioned in their review about the keyboard being too small. I disagree - I'm 6'5" 250lbs and have been told I've got "big meat hooks" (big hands). While it is tighter than a standard keyboard, it's totally workable and I'm easily able to type just as quickly as I do with any of my other laptops. IF I had to say something bad about this laptop it's for 2 things - First I wish there was a 2nd USB 3.0 port. Since most external devices are still on 3.0, it would be helpful to have a 2nd port. My other wish is to have an integrated Ethernet port without a dongle. While I've worked around this, it's still a pain to pull out a dongle to go with a hard line. I knew both of these things going into it, but it's still things I would change if I had a wish list. ... show more

  • It started out as a nice-to-have laptop. It's now a must-have.
Style: 512GB SSD
I bought this laptop to complement my work laptop, i.e., keep my personal stuff separate from my work stuff. I didn't think I would use it all that much, but it's proven to be such an awesome device, that it's now my go-to device. It's so light, it's also become my tablet replacement. For my home office setup, I have two laptops - one for work and this one. These two laptops share a large Dell curved monitor, along with a Logitech keyboard and mouse. This laptop is plugged in via Ethernet. When I want to work on this laptop, I have to manually switch the monitor, keyboard, and mouse to my #1 setup. I then switch to setup #2 when I work on my work laptop. I also have two video lights (each one is attached behind each laptop). My desktop is "clean" even though I have a lot going on. It's easy to detach this laptop from my desk setup and take it somewhere else in the house or on the road. It quickly wakes up as soon as you touch the keyboard and/or open the lid. Within seconds, I'm doing whatever I need to do on the laptop. This is so unlike any other device I've had: I usually have to wait anywhere from 30 secs - 2 mins before a device is ready to be used. This laptop has restored my confidence in Windows 10 devices. ... show more

  • Almost the perfect laptop
Style: 512GB SSD
Excellent battery life, excellent industrial design. During COVID I've been working from my car some days just for some variety, and the 180 degree hinge and overall durability & battery life have been great while I multi-task in odd places. Performance-wise, I've been running VirtualBox VMs, Office, Firefox/Chrome, Audio mixing tools, and video capture. All fine. Regarding audio, I was pleasantly surprised at the ASIO driver and the bass in the integrated speakers. Not a pro studio setup of course, but for being fully mobile, it's all rather impressive that I can reasonable record and mix audio on the go. Where I remove one star is the GPU. The GPU is quite slow. In fact in 3DMark this GPU is about 10% slower than my three year old Asus Zenbook. That said, I do appreciate that the panel and LCD driver has a 48 hz option (along with 60 hz). 48 hz does help with more consistent FPS (in the ballpark of what this GPU is capable of), however as an example of the GPU performance I must run Overwatch at 50% scaling mode to hit about 48 FPS. At least it's playable. This is definitely a business & productivity oriented laptop, but excellent at that. I can't expect to run any GPU-accelerated CGI or ML on this laptop. But the battery life best in class as far as I can tell, and performance for everything else non-GPU related is quite strong. 4/5 stars, would probably buy again unless I can find the same with a better GPU, however it seems non-glossy displays with fast GPUs are hard to find these days. ... show more

  • So disappointed with Asus.
Style: 512GB SSD
After using this intermittently for 2 months, it stopped working. At first it would only start with the AC adapter and then not even with that. Asus replaced the motherboard and the battery! When they sent it back to me it wouldn't start because their repairs triggered an automatic Microsoft encryption (with BitLocker) of my hard drive! No instructions were provided by Asus on how I was supposed to get in, and tech support took 2 days of much looking around to connect up with. And then, the best they could do was say, Send it back to repair. On my own I figured out about the "automatic encryption" service (what a dumb thing) and fixed it myself. Lastly, another problem was a loud fan noise that I mentioned but they didn't fix. For a nearly $2000 laptop (when I bought it), all of this was unacceptable. ... show more
