🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

This Chromebook has garnered mixed reviews, with praises for its quick charging and long battery life, and criticism for the subpar build quality and slow speed by some users. The device is praised for its light weight and extended battery life. However, it has been criticized for wide screen bezels, a low peak brightness, and a non-responsive trackpad. The Chromebook's speed and build quality were also noted to be less than satisfactory.

Pros

  • 🔋 Quick charging & Long battery life
  • 💼 Lightweight
  • 💡 Chrome-based

Cons

  • 🖥️ Wide screen bezels
  • 💡 Low peak brightness
  • 👆 Non-responsive trackpad
  • 🐢 Slow for a Chromebook
  • 🚧 Inferior build quality

Should I Buy It?

Despite some setbacks, this Chromebook is a practical option for buyers looking for a functional device on a budget, particularly if you need batteries that will last for a long time. However, if speed, build quality, and screen quality are priorities, you might want to consider other options.

  • The anti-glare screen makes it easier to see videos without the glare / reflection.
CPU: Celeron N3350 RAM Size: 4 GB Hard Disk Size: 32 GB Graphics Description: Integrated Style: Grey
I bought this for watching videos outside since it has an anti-glare screen which is getting harder and harder to find these days. No reflection from the sun watching in broad daylight. I also like the fact it has charging ports on both sides. The construction is very high quality. Great looking. For less than $200, it's a steal. ... show more

  • A lot of computer for the price!
My 13" MacBook Pro is my usual day-to-day machine, but I wanted something inexpensive and, most importantly, small and light, to take traveling to Europe. At less than $200 and around 2 lbs, this fit the bill. CPU, RAM, and storage are all sufficient for everything I want to do -- Gmail, Spotify, Google Docs, browsing -- without straining or bogging down. Paired with the TeckNet Bluetooth Mouse (also from Amazon) I have a secure, portable, and very usable traveling setup. And, should it get lost or stolen somewhere on the road, my data is safe on Google's servers, and it won't break the bank to replace it. Although I gave the individual review items -- material, sound, battery life -- each 4 stars (fine, but not great), the total package is a solid 5 star offering. An astounding amount of computer for the price, and 100% recommended if the Chromebook computing model meets your needs. ... show more

  • Glitchy at first, but solid since
CPU: Celeron N3350 RAM Size: 4 GB Hard Disk Size: 32 GB Graphics Description: Integrated Style: Grey
It was extremely glitchy at first, and would freeze and have to be shut down if I had more than 2-3 windows open at a time. I was going to return it, but it appeared to improve after the first few weeks, and has ran smoothly since (knock on wood). Really like the smaller, notebook feel. Not super fast but runs smoothly enough to get work done with multiple tabs, stream music and videos, etc. Solid personal laptop, especially for the price. ... show more

  • Cheap and effecient!
CPU: Celeron N3350 RAM Size: 4 GB Hard Disk Size: 32 GB Graphics Description: Integrated Style: Grey
The sound is pretty decent, I think it was better than my bigger laptop I had previously. Very easy to use, AppStore is a bit slow but no problems. Battery life is good! I bought this laptop for college, so far I was able to download Word and docs is available on the apps. Convenient light weight and very cute. I recommend it if you want something easy and cheap! Of course you won’t get Great quality for gaming or anything beyond. It’s definitely meant to type, so this is perfect for a college-high school student. If I could add one feature, it would be keyboard light up!!! Recommend it so far!!:) ... show more

  • Asus product support is garbage, unit is a known lemon
About 2-3 months in the speakers started crackling when they were muted. The unit's mouse started to lag and then stutter to catch up. Eventually it would not turn on even when fully charged. We call asus and it's still under full warranty awesome. Send it in for free. Amazing. They send it back. The bottom has a perfect silver circle. They've punctured it...um okay. They've damaged a hinge...that's weird. Turns on and still works for the limited stuff I need. Netflix in bed, word processing, and paying bills. ONE WEEK LATER. Same issues start. I check the repair report. Problem/Symptom. Blank. Replaced Parts: Blank. Action: Blank. Well that was absolutely unhelpful. I call and explain all this to them that there are weird small damages that make NO SENSE on the unit that the report has ZERO INFORMATION and oh yeah been back in use LESS THAN a WEEK and it's exhibiting the EXACT SAME issues we sent it in for before. "well we can't guarantee we will fix the damage we caused since you didn't keep the box we sent it back in" and they can't guarantee the didn't cause the damage during the repair. (I know the damage wasn't from shipping back because that box was fine). Absolutely ridiculous. We have square trade protection on it as well so I may go through them next and try and get a new unit because this one must be a lemon not that they'll admit it? Not sure. It's exactly what we're looking for in terms of functions, word processing, small and portable, with some apps, but definitely not the headaches. Update: trying to get a refund from ASUS for this unit. I can’t do word processing on google while it’s charging the speakers are still crackling. They created a fedex label to send it back BUT WONT TELL ME WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN how sketchy is that??? Final update: the unable to do basic functions while the chromebook is charging is a known issue according to square trade and they will fix it. So buyer beware. ... show more

  • Only lasted two years
CPU: Celeron N3350 RAM Size: 4 GB Hard Disk Size: 32 GB Graphics Description: Integrated Style: Grey
My previous Asus Chromebook lasted five years so it was disappointing that this one died right after the warranty expired. Probably won't get another Asus.

  • Very practical, nothing fancy
CPU: Celeron N3350 RAM Size: 4 GB Hard Disk Size: 32 GB Graphics Description: Integrated Style: Grey
I got this as a tablet replacement. I like having one hinged device with a keyboard, rather than a tablet plus keyboard packaged into a cover. And I didn't want to pay for a Microsoft Surface. I purchased a renewed unit so it was very cheap. It does everything I need it to do. I can install apps on it like on an Android tablet, and I run everything off of Google Drive and Google Docs. I switch to my Windows laptop if I need to do any intense editing of documents, then I put them on Drive, and I can view the docs on this device. ... show more

  • Great thus far. Display is weakest link but it's good enough.
I had the unit for 24 hrs now. I was previously using a same size Acer chromebook I bought used 2 years ago so it was 5 or so years old. I wanted more memory (2 vs 4G) , storage (16 vs 32G) and the ability to run Android apps. ***** I qualified reviewer made the point that the display was based on TN technology (vs IPS) and off angle viewing was poor. I found this to be the case but for my usage pattern its fine. Color quality is noticeably worse than my new TV but it good enough. I didn't want to pay $100 more for a better display. ***** Androids apps work very well (e.g. Skype) others Just ok. ***** I'm waiting on a usb c to HTML cable to confirm HTML support. ***** I'm happy this far. I have an ASUS tablet that has been great. I expect this ASUS chromebook will also prove to be great. Update 1/18/19 Received usb c to 6 format cable The following all worked well at the same time: !!! HDMI (w/ sound) over 25ft cable. usb3 flash drive playing music Ethernet LAN ... show more
