I bought the insurance for a digital scale, the scale broke and Asurion paid the claim. I was required to return the scale.

Wow! Extremely fast response from Asurion!!! Thank you very much!!! While I was on the phone with Amazon regarding fraud from a seller company in China that took me for almost $100.... I had to explain to Amazon that I bought a $15.99 purchase protection plan from Assurion and I needed a refund for that too! They explain to me that they will contact. Assurion and I would have to reply back to them for the refund. I thought to myself, "oh no! This is probably going to be a hassle!" Nope! To my surprise, they immediately responded through my Amazon message account that they've already canceled my protection plan… While I was still on the phone with Amazon! Oh, that's fast service!!! This makes me feel that if I did need service down the road on a device that I was supposed to get from CHINA, that they would honor the protection plan and give me a good service as well!! That's how I feel anyway! Thank you Assurion for taking my Grevious situation, and from your end, bringing a bright side to it! :-) ... show more

I usually get the protection, and have only had to use it once in the past 10 years. The only thing is that I wish it were a little more clear about which product each plan is for. It’s hard to find the specific item sometimes.

  • Offering redundant warranties is unethical. Complaint filed here and with the BBB.
December 6, 2019, I purchased Asurion's 2-Year Personal Care Protection Plan for $15.99 as an add on to purchasing PADO's Purewave CM-07 Massager because many purchasers said the product would just stop working. Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, my massager stopped working. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, I contacted Asurion to file a claim. The Asurion Rep informed me that their 2-Year plan started ended Dec. 6, 2021. I told them that didn't make sense for Asurion to offer a 2-year warranty since PADO offered a 2-year warranty and that I wouldn't have purchased a redundant warranty. It is unethical to offer a redundant warranty that provides no benefit to the consumer. They told me that their protection plan "offers offers any accidental damage within 2 years of purchasing the item. And it is stated in our terms and coverages." Asurion never emailed me their terms and conditions. Had I been able to read it, I would have requested a refund immediately because the ONLY reason for purchasing the warranty was to protect myself against the product electrical / mechanical failure. Further, these massagers are not fragile like mobile phones which are known for being dropped and would warrant an "accidental damage" waiver. I asked Asurion that if they couldn't file a claim for me, then could they, at least, refund my $15.99 explaining that their 2-year redundant warranty was misleading to the consumer and that they had never sent me the terms and conditions to read. The supervisor said, "Unfortunately we can't provide any refund." Desired Resolution: Ideally, replace my PADO massager with a new one, or repair my non-working massager into working condition. The second choice, provide a refund $15.99 (original cost of the (redundant) warranty. Lastly, 1) Discontinue offering warranties that mimic manufacturer warranties, 2) provide the Terms and Conditions in plain English in the beginning so consumers know exactly what they are getting. Hiding behind the terms and conditions of the agreement that was never provided for the consumer to read, is just wrong. Asurion should make this right or Amazon should not partner with them. ... show more
