The ASTRO A40 TR Headset and MixAmp M80 bundle is designed to provide Xbox One gamers with total control over their gaming audio experience. The ASTRO A40 TR is a premier gaming headset for professional gamers, including esports athletes, content creators, streamers, and game developers. It was developed with esports athletes to meet their rigorous standards for audio fidelity, comfort and durability. Able to adapt to any environment, the A40 TR arrives as an open-back headset featuring a swappable precision mic and customizable speaker tags. For loud environments such as pro tournaments, you can transform the A40 TR to a closed-back noise-isolating headset by adding a Mod Kit (sold separately) which features sealed speaker tags, synthetic leather ear cushions, and a voice-isolating microphone. For VR gamers, the A40 TR will fit perfectly over the HTC Vive, Oculus, or PS VR and deliver an immersive audio experience. The included MixAmp M80 adapter mounts directly onto your Xbox One Controller. The MixAmp M80 puts all critical audio controls at your fingertips for quick adjustment of game-to-voice balance settings, determining how much game sound and voice chat you wants to hear. It also allows you to select any of three different EQ modes optimized for different game genres, as well as providing master volume control and the ability to mute the microphone easily. I bought these when they were brand new and priced decently! A lot of these bad reviews are due to the used ones people bought. Mine was brand new and as such will rate it 5 stars because its been the best headset I've ever owned. Astro Gaming has officially got me to never go with turtle beach again! Pros Super Comfortable! Amazing sound quality Mixamp is actually quite good for on the fly adjustments Decent mic for Xbox gameplay. All my friends say they hear me crystal clear. Can swap mic for left or right side of headset which is a nice touch Cons The mic is spotty with a pc splitter and using it on my gaming pc. My friends couldn't hear me unless the mic was literally touching my lips. Got an old mixamp pro from a buddy of mine and works great. Sucks it needs another component to work. The mixamp m80 that comes with the headset has a weird connection issue. For example, when you disconnect the amp from the controller and plug it back in, it cuts off constantly. You need to turn off the controller and turn it back on. Honestly get this headset BUT NEW! I will buy another one IF this one ever goes bad or stops working. Now I have tested a couple headset before I purchased the A40 TR + M80. I do wear glasses when I game. Testing period 2 weeks for A40 and a week for the other headsets The headsets I tested: Turtle Beach 600 (wireless) - Battery life was great, Sound was good but felt like it was of a mono sound, comfort level was not good for me - Headset didn't feel loud enough for me and left ear started hurting for me. I know everyone has different ears this is just my experience with them. Did have a EQ type feature to adjust the volume. Also chat wasn't working well, players saying I sounded like a robot Turtle Beach 700 (wireless) - Battery life was ok, not as great as 600. Sound felt low and wasn't enough for me, did feel like it had better durability than the 600. Took awhile to charge. 3 star rating Did have a EQ type feature to adjust the volume Steel Series Artic 3 - (Wired) Sound was good but had to use the turtle beach adapter, did not like the fact that plugging it straight to the controller didn't work well. Using the adapter didn't bother me and it work fine after that. Comfort level was amazing most comfortable headsets. Sound was good but didn't feel like it was strong enough. 4 star (I am considering buying the wireless headset version along with still using A40) Now if you're looking for the best of the best and a great gaming experience I strongly suggest A40+M80. I read a lot of reviews and was disappointment because most of them was opinions and not experience. here is my experience Comfort is great can do an all day game session without ears hurting (5-8 hrs) Not the best from what i tested but good 3 EQ settings on the M80 (good for if you want more bass etc..) Feels really durable Sound is great. Exactly what I was looking for to hear footsteps etc.. The best sound out of the tested headsets above, games tested for footsteps and gun fire and overall sound - Fortnite, COD Black Ops 4, Forza Horizon 4, MK XL, Battlefield. When I played battle field it felt like I was in war for sure. The M80 volume button and volume adjust from game and voice feel great. Noise cancelling is great, I can't hear anything with the volume turn up about 3/4 (usually I have to play with it all the way up, not with these) No problems with the headsets, voice comes in clear and I can hear players just fine 5 star rating.     • Buzzing and crackling

The headphones are amazing. The problem is the mixamp m80. I bought a pair of these. The first time I used them there was a horrible buzzing or crackling noise in chat so I sent them back for a replacement set. Same exact thing again. The problem is with the mixamp. You can plug the headset into the controller using the auxiliary connection they provide and the headphones are just fine. But you lose the entire reason you bought this headset. I contacted Astro and they were beyond useless. One of the worst customer service experiences that I have ever had. I will say the headphones are amazing. They sound great and are light weight. But 2 brand new headsets with the same problem. Tried them on 2 different Xbox ones and 3 controllers. Did the trouble shooting. Headset is great. Mixamp is bad. 2 in a row on a brand new product? No thanks I'm done with them. Second set is being sent back today. ... show more
