Description

The car that would become the DB7 began its gestation in 1991. Developed entirely under the ownership of Ford, this new smaller Aston Martin was intended to add a new higher-volume strand to Aston Martin's range, and when the good-looking car was launched in 1993 it soon became obvious that this was sound policy. The straight-six-powered coupe was an instant hit and sold well. A cabriolet version followed soon afterwards, and in 1998 Project Vantage - a V12 version of the car was unveiled. In 2002 the range was joined by two special editions - the Vantage Zagato and the GT. When production of the DB7 family ended in 2003, giving way to the DB9, just over 7000 cars had been produced, making the DB7 the most numerous of all Astons. Written with the full cooperation of the factory, this is a book for every lover of this superb car. Read more

  • Aston Martin DB7 book
Format: Hardcover
This is a really excellent book on one of the most important Aston Martin cars. The DB7 was at the time the most produced Aston Martin ever, and led the way to the models in production now. This book reminds me of Philip Porter's great book on the Jaguar XK8, as it is a highly detailed examination of a single model. Andrew Noakes had the benefit of talking with the DB7's designer, Ian Callum, and his inclusion of numerous anecdotes from Callum add a lot to the story. The DB7 is considered one of the all time most beautiful car designs, and Callum was directly responsible for this. This book is a must for any Aston Martin enthusiast. ... show more

Excellent coverage of this often misunderstood model. More than just a 'Jag in drag', the DB7 is the last of pre-bureaucrat designs. [...]

  • Nice book but not complete
Format: Hardcover
This is the only affordable book on the DB7 that I could find. Although it gives the reader a nice history of Aston Martin and how the DB7 was created it still left me wanting more. He calims there were over 7000 DB7's built between 1994 and 2004. He doesn't give a year by year production figure. Nor do we know how many were sold in GB, how many were sold in North America and Europe. The author claims there were 20 standard colors available to pick from but never shows or lists the colors. Yes, I am aware for an extra cost you could order a DB7 in any color you want. There was no mention of the options available and how many were ordered. I understand he had access to the AML factory files and can't understand why accurate sales figures were not included. Also why did he cover the DB9? It just confused the issue and should have been left for another book. ... show more
