  • A Great Motherboard Once You Get To Know It!
Style: Nova WiFi
It seems every MB I considered had it’s detractors and I carefully considered the reviews I found on Amazon and Newegg and I read many. There seemed to be a consensus that the ASRock Phantom Gaming X870E Nova had the best bang for the buck feature wise. My experience with it is that it was relatively easy to work with, it’s well laid out, seems to be very robustly built with a sturdy back plate and has a robust power stage. The instruction manual has a lot to be desired, I’ve seen far better in the past and it took me a bit of time to figure out where everything is in the BIOS but with time and patience I figured it out. Remember to go to the ASRock website and download the Software/BIOS Setup Guide in addition to the User Manual. Remember to configure the BIOS to use the Integrated Graphics Controller from the MB prior to installing the GPU which requires the proper drivers being installed first which you download from the GPU vendor. Also ASRock can install the necessary drivers for the MB in the BIOS, Boot into the BIOS, and a notification will pop up in the lower right corner of your screen saying, "Do you want to one-step-install the latest drivers simply from ASRock Auto Driver Installer?" Select YES and it will do it as long as you have a network connection. After I installed Windows 11, the MB kept failing to boot because my BIOS was not set to by default to enable Security Device Support, the computer would go into a rapid cycle where it could try to open Windows and then reboot because it didn’t see “Security Device Support enabled”. So hit F2 go into the BIOS, click on “Advanced” scroll down to Trusted Computing and Enable it and it will boot! After this it has been smooth sailing ever since. It boots very quickly, is rock solid, it’s in use hours a day – no issues. I’m using G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 64GB (2x32GB) 6000MT/s,CL30 (Remember to enable EXPO in the BIOS) Ryzen 9 processor, Asus RTX 4060, Seasonic Vertex 750 PSU, Scythe Mugen 6 Dual Fan Black Edition CPU Air Cooler – All purchased on Amazon. I would certainly buy this again now that I know a bit more about it. I hope this helped those of you struggling with the decision and may your next build be GREAT!! Art ... show more

  • Nice.

This motherboard is the one all others should be ranked against. From wifi7 to multiple m.2 slots, the board has it all. Word of warning though if you are running widows 10, the wifi won't work. Drivers only exist for Win11.

  • Works awesome with the RYZEN 7 9800x3D
Style: Nova WiFi
Awesome & fast, but had to look up online how to do the settings so the newest windows would install. It wasn't the normal BIOS settings that were on any other motherboards I've owned.

  • ASRock is shady, these boards are dying and taking the CPU with them.
Style: Nova WiFi
Sadly I didn't read the Reddit ASRock forum until after my build was mostly complete. There is a high failure rate with these ASRock boards.. Has mine died yet? NO. Is ASRock handling this poorly? YES! So now get this.... I emailed ASRock because I couldn't find how long the warranty is, should be a simple answer right? They wouldn't answer without my serial number and receipt. I've never built an AMD system in over 30+ years of building systems, and this will be my last. ... show more

  • Works as expected
Style: Taichi Lite
Bought the Taichi Lite X870e to replace a damaged MSI Carbon MPG (my preference). I got this because it was difficult to replace the Carbon at a sensible price or purchase the regular Taichi near list price. Simply put both of these boards are of superior construction compared to the Lite. Nonetheless, my computer is stable with Crucial Pro RAM 96GB (2x48GB), 9900X, Thermalright PS120SE air cooler, Corsair RM1000x PSU, and Samsung 980 PRO 2TB. Light overclocking using PBO and Expo. Buy the right RAM to avoid issues. The ASRock BIOS is excellent as usual. Linux users: I am running Proxmox 8.3 (Debian based) but using a USB to ethernet adapter until the on-board ethernet port is supported by kernel 6.xx or ASRock steps up. Another reviewer reported similar problems with the on-board ethernet port, so the issue is well known. I like this board. Just don't pay exorbitant prices to scalpers. ... show more

  • Overclocking Heaven
Style: Taichi Lite
24+2+1 power stages means there is almost no voltage fluctuation. This even fit into a regular ATX case, I just had to run most of the fans from the front instead of the side so I could put the cabling through there to the back. It has everything any regular gamer could possibly need in terms of m2 (ssd) slots, and there's no current need for anyone not actually rendering games/movies on their own to have more than 32mb of RAM across two sticks at 30CL, so even that is plenty. It has just enough USB ports of varying types for anything but the most extensive setups, and even then you could use splitters. Really, this is the top of the line cream of the crop of motherboards for serious gamers. With that said, if you're not running top of the line equipment and trying to overclock, this STILL can be worthwhile as an insurance policy for your expensive components. Definitely be sure to get a GPU physical arm support as there are no secondary attachments for any single PCIE port cards. Realistically, if you're not spending >$400 on your CPU/GPU, you don't need this, you don't even need a mobo over $150, but when you're spending almost $2k on the rest of your components, definitely consider this over any other mobo on the market if only for the incredibly longevity it can give to a CPU with that many power stages regulating the voltage. ... show more
