  • Amazing board at a great price.
Style: Motherboard
I recently lost a motherboard due to a power surge. I also started noticing some issues with my gaming video card, so, when I replaced the motherboard, I did not install the gaming card. The board works great and starts quite quickly. And, to my surprise, I'm still able to play a lot of my games at decent quality with the motherboard alone. I am older, as are my games, but as an example, I'm able to play Borderlands 2 and Minecraft with the graphics turned up, and they look and play great. This is my first ASRock mb, and I highly recommend it. I haven't played with the lighting yet, but it looks great out of the box. ... show more

  • Best all around board at this price point for looks and performance, rgb controller works fine now!
Style: Motherboard
Was very happy with this board especially at this price. Pros: Looks good Works good Uefi is ok, easy to OC everything The vrm heatsinks are good, stays acceptably cool Good I/O selection (has USB type C, plenty of USB 3 Decent audio Cons: Hmmmmmmmmm.... Well first, the "polychrome" software is CRAP, but if your savvy you will eventually get it to work. But for me I finally got everything aRGB synched, the fans, the ram, the board etc, then the very next day the boards LEDS and everything synched to it wouldn't turn on. After a semi competent conversation with asrock, it seems the RGB controller itself is no longer working, so I no longer am able to sync anything and the Mobo lights just don't work. CRAP. JUST AFTER WARRANTY. If you use the lower of the two M.2 slots (the SATA one), be aware it shares it's SATA lane with SATA port #3, so you cannot plug an SSD/HDD into SATA port 3 AND have a SATA M.2 installed, it's one or the other, so if you plan to use that m.2 port you effectively lose one of the few SATA ports. Not sure if that's on all boards or what but it's kind of lame. No wifi option, I bought a good adapter and Intel WiFi/Bluetooth m.2 card, works great ($30) This is still the best looking board at this price, however the asrock quality should be a topic of consideration if you really care about the aRGB stuff. I will have a really hard time picking asrock in the future. EDIT: SO after a year, i finally decide to try asrocks ploychrome asrrgbled cant decide on name software, and guess what. Firmware updates automatically after starting up the program, and guess what happened? Go ahead, after reading my review, guess. MOBO LIGHTS! Are back on. Check out my review on the cpu cooler ive used the entire time, its the UpHere 5v argb one, you'll see my pictures there. I highly recommend that cooler and matching case fans. I give this board a bump from 3-5 stars for full functionality. It's asrocks software that should get 1 star. ... show more

  • It’s pretty good

The media could not be loaded. It gave me more ram to use and as well as an ARGB header. Word of advise, NEVER use their RGB software. Get a controller. Their software is awful for RGB. Other than that no complaints. If your RGB is fritzing then search “I can’t flash my ARGB firmware” in google.

  • Amazing motherboard!
Style: Motherboard
Purchased this for a build with one of my students. I bought two other motherboards (both MSI) and they BOTH were DoA. I've always used ASUS (until the MSI garbage) but happened to scroll across this ASRock B450M Steel Series. After reviewing the motherboard on the ASRock website (which is an awesome website for reviewing motherboards...their diagrams and pictures are perfect!) I decided that this would be a good motherboard for the build. Upon receiving the motherboard everything was intact and, pulling it out of the box, the attention to detail was terrific! The student installed it, along with all the components, turned it on and...SUCCESS!!! The RGB lighting is perfect and not too dominant. Along with his RGB case and fans everything looked amazing! We went with a Ryzen 5 5500 CPU and I do believe we have a winner! Never used ASRock before but I'm jealous of my student's PC. I love my all-white RGB build but I don't have an RGB mobo...and the ASrock is extremely aesthetically pleasing! As for the motherboard's performance, time will tell. But given how bad QC at MSI is I will definitely be looking at the ASRock brand for future builds/upgrades! Great product, pleasing to the eyes, great price and will hugely recommend!!! ... show more

  • Compatible and Desktop Ready with AMD RYZEN 3000
Style: motherboard
Like many people, I was searching for a decent motherboard compatible with Ryzen 3000. Well, this is it. The B450 Steel Legend (as well as the Micro ATX version, B450M) should come updated out of the box if you purchase new from Amazon Services. If you are hesitant to purchase this board, don't worry. So far, it has worked perfectly with my Ryzen 7 3800X and EVGA 2070 XC Ultra. Despite the subpar VRM and only using the Wraith Prism, my CPU temperatures only fluctuate between 50-60s during gaming with only two case fans from my NZXT H510. And everything has been perfectly cool during my gaming sessions. I don't even think I've gone over 75 degrees yet. Overall, the B450 Steel Legend is a good, affordable motherboard to get your Ryzen 3000 working out of the box. And having a PCI-E STEEL SLOT and single RAM retention clip/lock is a nice touch when using a big graphics card. Furthermore, I have not had any problems with the ASRock RGB software and the BIOS layout is very simple and direct. The B450 has been extremely easy to work with and build on. However, if you are expecting more premium features from this board, you should look elsewhere. For the price though, it is a great deal! Note: If you’re planning to use the Wraith Prism, I recommend adjusting the fan curves or purchasing another cooler if you want a silent experience out of the box. It does the job but with a little too much noise for my taste. ... show more
