The assembly was straight forward with the supplied Allen wrench, but I used my own on ratchet set. The pictorial instructions are clear and most of the parts are large. Once assembled the unit is heavy so make sure to be close to your location and use sliders. The firebox / heater has multiple settings for the flame, brightness and color and the fan and heater are quiet. I miss the smell and crackling of my real one but this unit is attractive and well made for mdf. ... show more

Easy to put together, easy to install, great looking in my dining room. Nice dark color. Love the flames and it heats well thru 2 big rooms. Only thing was the tiny wood screws that you hold the heater to the fireplace should have some predrilled holes. They were tough to screw in that hard wood without a hole to start the screwing + they are ultra short. The back heater brace my handy man put on easily. This Ashley Electric Fireplace is a gorgeous addition to our bedroom. The assembly was fairly simple, a one-hour/one-person job, and everything lined up perfectly. The classic design is elegant, charming, and creates instant ambiance to the room. The heat option works great with remote control settings that turn off as needed. I can opt for just the lighted faux logs and embers too. The fan is not loud and does not disrupt sleep or watching TV. I can control the temperature settings with the remote too. SImply awesome! I opted for this unit and paid more than some of the cheaper brands but I am so glad I did. The quality of the wood/mantle/etc is exceptional. It is a very nice piece of furniture and worth every penny. The heat box sits up off the floor so there is no concern about anything touching it. There was no odor from the heating elements and it does a good job at keeping our large 20-12 ft bedroom a comfortable 71 degrees. The only regret I have is not purchasing this years ago! This fireplace is gorgeous! I have it on all the time, it adds such beautiful ambience to my home office. The flame is extraordinary and the color options are really neat. The wood trim is outstanding, the heater and remote are excellent. The assembly was rather straightforward and simple, except for screwing in the box itself to the back of the wooden surround. The holes were not pre-drilled and it's quite difficult to get the very small screws into the wood. Also, the box itself could be a bit deeper with a larger, more realistic metal grate. That would have earned it 5 stars. Another awesome addition would be a realistic crackle sound that can be turned ON/OFF with the remote. ... show more

I like almost everything. I don’t like that you can’t turn the remote beep off. Everytime you turn it on, change anything it’s a very loud beep. It is annoying for anyone sleeping near by. It will wake you. Other than that, the heat is more than sufficient. The fan is a bit loud for today’s options, I would rate this a 5 except the loud beep on the remote. Would I buy this again? Yes, assembly was beyond easy, it took about 1 hour that’s taking out of box. Taking all pieces out and laying them out. The construction is solid considering it’s do it yourself, Adding the insert after assembly of mantle was no problem. You do need to screw in two screws in the back that do not have predrilled to hold the firebox in place. I do love the look of this. Yes, there are much better fire boxes out there with more options but for the price this is a beautiful piece. See below pics ... show more
