  • affordable night vision goggles
This is my first night vision goggles and I was surprised at the good quality of the picture and features. It's not military quality, but the price it's perfect for camping and outdoor. Easy to operate and the rechargeable battery last a reasonable time of viewing.

  • Would return if I could
Can’t adjust - must hold away from face to clearly see anything. Screen lights up the whole blind at the lowest setting. WOULD RETURN IF I COULD.

  • Very good value
I received the produce and it was very easy to set up and get use to using. The quality of the images both day and night exceeded my expectations. While yes its not a traditional "Binoculars" you will not be disappointed in this product.

  • Like a nightvision camcorder
This is pretty cool to have, as a casual night vision device. I would not call it a google, as it cannot be put against your face and only one of the lens has vision. It is more of a remodeled night vision camcorder in the shape of a pair of binoculars. The screen shows what is seen out of the left eye piece, while the right eye piece is an infrared light source. One thing to note is the default visual focus distance is about 10 ft, so the image starts out magnified rather than starting from where your eye is. The image is quite high resolution so the digital zoom function, which can roughly magnify the objects in the image to about 2x the original length at full 8.0X zoom, can show grainy but surprisingly clear details from a very far distance. I saw buildings over a mile away, at midnight, I didn't know were buildings until I zoomed in and saw the rough outline of windows. I couldn't even see this detail during the day unless I had binoculars so I am impressed with the night vision resolutions. There are some quirks to using it though. The basic function of the device is straightforward. It turns on with the power button, and you can adjust the different modes with the array of buttons. You can switch between camera and video recording modes with the mode button. For the vision mode button, there is the regular, green tint, and purple tin modes. The regular mode can enhance low light visuals in color, but if you turn on the IR setting to see in the dark, it will be only in black and white. The infrared setting allows the device to see in the dark. The right "eye piece" is the infrared light source, so it needs to be unobstructed to produce night vision. It will also produce glare on objects like if you were to shine a regular flashlight at a shiny surface. Therefore, it will make most texts on even slightly reflective surfaces not visible unless you shift the camera so you're side eyeing the text and the IR lights are not pointed directly at it. Similar to that, it is difficult to use this device to look through a window into the dark. The IR light will reflect off the glass, obscuring vision. If you place the device at point blank to the window glass with both eye pieces against it, it will partially work. In general, you want to use this in an unobstructed range of view. Additionally, you need to twist the eyepiece with the camera to focus the image for things at different distances. Overall, this is basically a cool night vision camcorder with a screen. It works quite well at illuminating things in the dark in black and white, and you can see a lot with the high resolution. It is different than what is conventionally considered a night vision google though, and is a lightweight device that almost feels like a toy. To sum it up, it basically shows a high quality picture of the dark and you can digitally zoom in to see various details. There is no auto focus though, and you need to manually adjust the eyepiece focus when looking at objects of different distances. ... show more

  • Night vision gadget that tries to do everything, but doesn’t do it well.
Contrary to how it’s advertised, this is not binoculars nor is it goggles – the device is constructed in the way that you are looking into a rectangular-shaped viewport, while a single lens and the IR emitter are directed to the target. The manual is good, I’m finally glad to see a reasonably sized booklet with a large font that does not force me to reach for a magnifying glass. It still has some errors and omissions, it makes no mention of the protective film that must be removed from the lens and more surprisingly it makes a reference (page 6) to a non-existing control: “the eyepiece diopter adjustment wheel”, which you’re supposed to use if the menu is fuzzy. The menu is actually crystal clear, I guess this might be a remnant from the old version. This device has no optics to talk about, this may help to achieve its light weight (only 339g / just under 12 ounce), but it does not help to take good pictures. Smart phones manage quite well without real lenses, but they probably have much better matrices and processors. In any case, whatever the cause is, the pictures I took at broad daylights were very disappointing with regard to clarity, colors and basically everything. Part of this might be a very aggressive compression – in the 12-megapixel mode, a 3904 x 2196 pixel, 72x72DPI image was only about 300KB in size with 50% compression level, it was bleak and didn’t have a good focus. Same goes for videos. Despite of the very high bitrate - 27.0 Mb/s – the quality is quite poor. For videos AzzuNiu is using the outdated AVI container and MJPEG encoding, which is basically just a sequence of compressed JPEG images. I would much prefer something more up to date, like MP4/x264. The device seems to record the audio too, but the output is so low that I could hardly hear my voice. The audio is encoded in PCM, which supposed to be a high-quality lossless format. Considering the above I wonder is AzzuNiu is using old chips originally designed for camcorders a long time ago. The included mini card is very slow, I saw the transfer rate was 3.50 MB/sec, although the only time when it matters is when you transfer files from it; if you can wait it’s not a problem. The night vision itself is marginally better than my daytime experience I described above. I could see the far end of my backyard and the cord of firewood I left there. The device offers two “color modes”: Luminous Green and Infrared Light Color. The former is a nod to the old night vision goggles where green was the only color available, it may also make sense because this is where the human eye is most sensitive, so it may be the right option for some difficult conditions, bad weather or distant objects. The second color mode was outright bad for me. The default “normal” color mode was by far the best. To summarize, the upside of this gadget is its versatility: night vision, photo and video capabilities, the downside is the poor quality, which makes it little more than a cute toy. ... show more
