  • Great hardware and software
I have been extremely satisfied with this keyboard and the Analog Lab software. The keyboard is small, light, and pretty. It feels good to play and is very responsive. I don't get the impression it would stand up to a huge amount of battery, particularly of the knobs and percussion pads, but it definitely works for studio and home music making. The software is beyond awesome. I have learned so much about analog synthesizers and their capabilities from using it. Everything sounds top-notch and the keyboard is perfectly suited to using the software. Sometimes the program freezes or stops playing audio, but a quick restart fixes it. This mostly happens when changing sounds, and is not a problem when you have it all mapped to change with pads on the controller, so it won't be an issue performing live. Overall awesome purchase that is more than worth the money. ... show more

  • Great controller, good pricing, unfortunately the software is buggy and hasn't been tested that well, but they're fixing it.
This is a great midi controller. I really love the hardware. And it's reasonably priced for how much it offers. If you're just buying it for the controller to use for other software, it's awesome, I personally use it with FL Studio without any problems. But if you're buying it for Analog Lab I'd wait a few months for them to iron out the bugs...and make sure you're comfortable with eLicenser; it hasn't caused me any trouble but I have to wonder if it is why the Analog Lab VST seems so broken. Edit: The Midi Control Center mapping software is out of beta now, just be sure to get the latest version; they fixed the issues from their original software and the new version works great. You can program the controller to output whatever midi you want, and there are 8 different banks which you can use to store the mappings. I have a feeling that they set their the deadlines around getting the hardware on store shelves in time for the holiday buying rush, but that the software really wasn't ready to leave the lab yet, so they're playing catch-up. Unfortunately this has become all too common of a practice with hardware products these days...but since the software wasn't what I bought it for I'm not that upset about it, like I would be had Analog Lab been the decision point of making the purchase. The final caveat is that for some reason the controller itself is incompatible with VirtualBox with USB support enabled. You have to completely unplug the controller to use VirtualBox, because something VirtualBox does when it scans for USB hardware seems to crash the MiniLab's firmware. They do seem to have good quality support, which I appreciate; they're quite friendly and helpful if you open an actual ticket. There are a lot of people complaining about their supposed lack of support, but I haven't had this experience myself in interacting with them. Even if analog lab never gets fixed, I still feel like this was well worth the money. I like the hardware; it makes my life easier. ... show more

  • Charming Little Thing!
It's a lovely little keyboard, though my fingers often ache for more keys; another octave possibly. I have yet to master the Arturia software and its uses; for now I create MIDI tracks from Anvil Studio, use the demo version of FL studio to import those MIDI tracks and host the Arturia MiniLab software as a plug-in, and just use the keyboard now and then to play around with sounds without using the mouse to click the digital keyboard. I know...I have much to learn. But I'm still enjoying what I have right now. The soundbank is pretty nice (over 5000 as promised) and Arturia regularly offers updates for free after you purchase it. Since the time of my purchase I received Arturia MiniLab 2 for free and an update to that as recently as two weeks ago (there's about 5300 in the sound bank now). There's also been a promotional for a free MiniFilter plug-in. So I appreciate that about Arturia. They seem to care about you and keep your interest, even if you're a new and pretty frugal musician like me. I probably won't be buying a lot of VSTs and accessories for a long while but it's nice to have rewards here and there for your original purchase a couple of years ago. The newsletters aren't bad either. Happy composing. ... show more

  • ARTURIA MiniLab 230401 25-Key MIDI Controller
Connects to my macbook ok but not to my pc with win 7 home premium 64bit. Anybody got a suggestion? The keys seem to jump from soft to loud without much in between. The sliders are jumpy also. It plays my NI software OK. Well made and looks nice. I do know how to program the knobs and pads yet because I still have not read all of the users manual. I am new to all of this electronic music making. Hope to have fun. ... show more

  • Worked For A Year.
Works flawlessly with FL Studio. I love this little thing. From the pads to the keys. Simple and gets the job done. Only bad part is, the cord ripped and I had to tape it together. The wires are showing and it works, but keeps unplugging. The cord could be made more sturdier. It also comes with the Arturia sound VST, which is a library of hundreds of sounds. EDIT: After ONE year, the port that you plug the piece into, has broken. It pushes in, when I plug in the cable, and only works when I'm pulling it out, AKA, it DOESN'T work. The cable is brand new as well. Money gone to waste. You know when they say "What you pay is what you get"? This is one of those instances. I contacted Arturia. First a lady asks for my info via email. I give it to her. Then another person asks for the same info. I give it to them. So since the warranty is up, I'll have to pay for repairs. I wait for a reply. One week goes by. Two. Then three. Now I send another email asking "ARE YOU GOING TO REPLY AT ANY POINT OR NO". They reply "You didn't give us your full address". ARE YOU SERIOUS? I send it back, no reply AGAIN. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Support is a joke, and so is this piece of trash Midi. I bought an Alesis Vi25. Worth the $200. ... show more
