  • Might be hooked on Arrma? Too soon to tell
Color: Blue
I am new to RC, having just bought the MJX HyperGo brushless about a week ago. I owned plenty growing up but nothing nitro / hobby level before. I have been extremely impressed with that car as a true starter, budget level RC that is 3s ready/brushless at around $90 on sale at 1/16 scale. This review is about the Senton though. A short-track Rally style car. I've run 2, 5200 mah 3s batteries a day through it for 3 days now. Total of 6 battery runs and I'm in love with this car. I only have 2 manufacturers to compare at time of writing with a noticeable price difference but the quality of the Arrma from first look at the electronics and mechanical components you can tell they are using quality parts. I am considering upgrading certain parts if/when they break. I am not gonna knock a plastic / composite part over metal though as the flex could save lots of damage on an impact. I could be wrong but the price may keep this out of the true entry level range. As a 1/10 scale this car, it's big and feels amazing to drive. Care needs to be taken on turns and at high speeds. I haven't clocked it but it seems like it is easily hitting 45+mph on street and tries to go airborne with the body on (yes the road and power of this car eats the factory tires, not recommended). It is equally fast in the grass and dirt/gravel but I installed a much needed guard / net over the chassis / components. After running for 5 minutes it would be so clogged with debris I was worried about over-heating / fire risk. I also had the problem of the perfect sized pebble jamming the steering servo every run pre net install. The remote throttle control is perfect for beginners and I don't have to fear handing this off to someone at 50% throttle control. Don't get me wrong it is still fast but it takes that edge off of it for sure. At 100% throttle it pulls wheelies consistently in grass and just tears. Stones you definitely need to be careful where the rear of the car is pointed as it will launch some nice sized rocks considerable speed. The most fun with this car has been on dirt and I can't wait to actually take it to a course. Reading the manual helps a ton and should be done while waiting for batteries etc. Especially if this is a first hobby car. Personal experience - If you have an issue with a rapid flash when turning it on, there is a good chance one of the settings on the hand controller is out of sync, like the throttle knob on the back of the controller that lets you set a constant throttle to the car. I had this turned up somehow after powering the controller and car both off / in between charges without realizing it. I am eagerly awaiting a Vendetta and Granite bought on the xmas in July sale. Having seen where modern day electric RC is for hobby level is amazing. I can't wait to try a few more cars and other devices from some other companies as well but it seems like Arrma is hitting it out of the park. Pictures of any mods and further follow up will be provided as time goes on. ... show more

  • Great SC truck
Color: Blue
The Arrma Senton 3s BLX 4x4 was my first RC in about 20 years. Wow, how things have changed. This truck is solid. For the first few months I bashed the heck out of it. To my surprise, it held up well. As you would expect, things started breaking after a while. Iโ€™ve taken the winter to go through it and replace most suspension and steering components. When you drive it hard like I do, you have to maintain it. Parts are going to break. I just bought another to give as a gift to my brother for his bday. Arrma did a great job on this. Fairly easy to work on and have never really had a hard time getting OEM parts for it. I recommend this, especially for entry level RCโ€™ers. Fast and fun ... show more

  • From a Non-Expert Users Point of View
Color: Blue
TLDR; For a new hobbyist I think the Senton is a great purchase for someone looking for a truck that won't break the bank and will still provide a lot of enjoyment. Is it perfect? No. But I am not sure I have ever bought any product that was perfect. The Senton is easy enough for a new user and between using 2S batteries and throttling it down to 50% via the controller switch it does a good job of taming it for younger use. I don't have a ton of expierience with RC cars like the Senton 3s V3 that I have recently purchased but I will share my opinions based on my use as a driving around the yard rc car. My first RC car I got was a Nitro TMAXX back in the early 2000's. It was a blast and I really enjoyed nitro and at that time electrics just weren't where they are today. I enjoyed it and although I was usually tearing it apart to make upgrades and repairs I always felt that was part of the fun of having a hobbyist grade rc vehicle. Looking to get a new rc car I did some research and decided I wanted to try out arrma and wanted an electric. Nitro's are fun but in my memory were more finicky and messier. With 4 kids and 3 dogs I didn't need more mess and wanted something that I could just take out drive around and be done. The senton has performed admirably. I gave 4 stars overall and on durability because even just driving around in my yard I have already broken the front bumper and a front suspension arm. This doesn't cause me any concern as parts are relatively cheap and given the power these machines have I expect to break things on occasion and both of these parts are ones I would expect to break before lots of other things. The Senton on 3S batteries is fast. VERY FAST! I can't even imagine what the 6S version is like or some of these 8S vehicles although I suppose they are heavier so who knows. One day. ... show more

  • NOT TO HAPPY Invested another $300 into this after it breaking so many times.
Color: Blue
When I first got this RC car it was super fast and worked very well. As I continued to use the car it started to fall apart. This is what has broke on it in the last 60 days since I first got it. The motor has now seized and I can't justify another $90 to fix it. The tires wore very fast and had to buy new ones $45 The under body cracked and had to change out. $29 and 3 hours of time One of the shocks broke $32 for a new set The shell of the car has cracked all over but can justify buying a new one for $75 Front end steering broke. new parts were cheap but took a-lot of time $20 The motor has seized and cant see spending another $90 on it There are many other items that broke and I will upload pics of them. I understand this goes fast and some of the items breaking could have been from that but There was alot of things that broke internally and in a short amount of time. Total investment. $319 for the RC CAR and remote $300 in parts and fixes $100 in batteries $30 in charger Total spend $749 in last 60 days and RC is a great paper weight. ... show more
