I purchased this modem around a year ago in May of 2020 and it's one of the best routers I've used. I work as a network and systems administrator and I'm nerdy enough that I've built my own home network with multiple VLANs using the arris as my gateway. I've only had 2 main issues. 1. It doesn't always play nice with the upstream/downstream power of the connection and I've had to use attenuaters at 2 of the 3 addresses I've used it at. 2. There were times when I had bandwidth issues and other intermittent connectivity when using the wifi but that was before I put all of my IOT devices on a 2.4GHz guest network as well as spreading out the load with my other devices on the appropriate 2.4 or 5G bands (or Ethernet of course). The router interface is a little clunky and doesn't allow you to rename devices that I've found which isn't ideal but it's not a hill I'm willing to die on. I would like to eventually upgrade to a better Arris Surfboard model and use this model as an AP/Router to further even out the load of my network. If you are having connectivity issues with this router the 3 main issues to look into are: 1. If you need to attenuate the stream 2. IOT devices causing interference on high traffic areas and bands 3. Good old ISP might just be pulling a fast one on you and throttling. Worth calling ISP support and Arris support to trouble shoot these issues. Very happy with this router and I will never rent from an ISP company again. I've never worked with an ISP rented modem that didn't give me months of headaches. ... show more

Ok, so I've had this modem for almost 2 months now and felt like I've given it more than enough time to write a comprehensive review. I decided it was time for an upgrade from my previous modem/router that is almost 4 years old. I replaced my NetGear modem/router combo with this one. Now my current internet package is 400mbps, but that's wired. Strictly using WiFi I should be able to get around 280mbps or a little bit more. With my NetGear I could achieve this with no issues at all, but I was constantly having to reboot the modem. Thinking that it was the problem, I decided to try and upgrade. When I saw this, I thought ok, let's give it a try. On a GOOD day with minimal or no other WiFi traffic I can get around 130mbps. Which of course is more than sufficient to stream anything and have numerous devises going at the same time. HOWEVER, when you're use to getting 280+mbps, this lower down load speed is simply PATHETIC! I will give it this though, on my NetGear my upload speed was generally around 10mbps, which isn't bad, but not great either. This modem I'm getting an upload speed of 20-22mbps. The range on the Wifi appears to be more than sufficient in a single story home of about 1500sqft. Now the app that you download to monitor it. The app is simplistic in nature, and pretty user friendly. HOWEVER, I have EVERY wireless device connected to the 5ghz network side, but on the app, everything is showing that it's connected to the 2.4ghz side. SUPER annoying, and clearly not accurate. With the lower download speed than what I was accustomed too, BUT, the higher upload speed I give 4 stars overall. If the internet package you have is 100mbps or lower, then this will be more than adequate. If you have a higher speed internet package like I do, prepared to be disappointed in the overall DL speed. ... show more

Works well. Easy to set up. I had issues but that is on my internet provider's fault. This modem has been working well for 4 days now. Will update in the future if anything happens. Update: It's been like 5 months now. I've been using internet via this thing without any issues. One thing I gotta say is my internet service is 50mbps, way below the capability of this modem router, so I cannot comment in term of max speed. I do get all my 50mbps. I have Xfinity. This device has been very reliable with my current service. I never had to restart the router due to drop connection in the past 5 months. (I had this issue a lot in the past, not sure if due to other modems/router or due to my previous internet services.) This device got 5Ghz wifi which allows me to play Xbox games from the cloud. In short, great device, I'm glad I bought this. I actually bought a used one here for maybe a third or a quarter the cost of a new unit ... show more
