I appreciate that this rice cooker uses a solid stainless steel inner pot instead of the typical nonstick. It's great knowing that the pot will last much longer, and I don't have to worry about any potential health concerns associated with nonstick coatings. The overall build quality feels quite good. The outer shell is made of metal, so it feels quite durable, and the handles are made of plastic to prevent any accidental burns while the rice cooker is hot. The 14-cup capacity works great for our family of 8. Since I cook 4 cups of rice multiple times a week, I like being able to just throw all the ingredients in the pot and walk away, allowing me to focus on other parts of the meal. The rice came out great: no hard spots, no mushy spots, just well-textured rice. The measurement lines inside the pot are a lot easier to read on the stainless-steel surface compared to the nonstick pots in other rice cookers I’ve used. Additionally, I really like the shape of the included rice scoop. It's shovel-shaped, which makes it easier to get all the way to the bottom of the pot when serving. Finally, I saw some reviews that mentioned the steamer basket feeling flimsy, but I don’t think it will be a problem. Quite pleased with this. Wish my mom had had one when I was a kid, maybe she wouldn’t have burned the rice cooking it on the stove so much. The stainless steel is easy to clean, I like that it also comes with a steamer so you could cook food on top if you want too. I haven’t tried that feature yet. The rice I’ve cooked with it came out perfectly and did not stick (note I do add a tablespoon of cooking oil to the water when I make rice for flavor and to make it easier not to stick). ... show more

My first rice maker. Well worth purchasing. Now I can put the rice on to cook and leave the kitchen, not hovering over it to be sure the rice doesn't boil over. Easy to clean up afterwards. Cooks fast. Very durable. Cooks a large enough amount yet doesn't hog the kitchen counter when out. It sticks a little on the bottom and sides but is easy to wash off. Excellent product. The cooker easily made perfect white rice in a 3 cup raw rice recipe. (The cups are actually 3/4 measuring-cup size). I love the stainless steel inner pan; a nice, beautiful ,and great quality pan. The one thing I wish could be different is that there is no signal tone or any indication when the cooker switches from cooking mode to warming mode. So I will be setting a timer to prevent my rice from drying to the bottom of the pan. It does not take long in warm mode to make a crust on the bottom of the pan. (Not burnt but dry.). Glad to say goodbye to my old non-stick coated cooker which as too small and quite worn. ... show more

    • Sturdy, simple rice cooker
I live in Hawaii and come from an Asian rice eating family. This isn’t the rice cooker I grew up with but it’s a simpler in my opinion better version. I like the stainless steel pots. They are easy to clean off rice (which is the only thing I cook in my rice cooker). Just a couple minute soak will allow the rice to come off easily. I like that there are only 2 functions, warm and cook. I had the smaller 3 cup version of this same rice cooker but upgraded because of our growing family. Yes, it is a fourteen cup capacity, but no, you can't make fourteen cups of rice in it. First of all, you need to use the cup that comes with the rice maker which is only three quarters of a cup. I made three cups of rice using the included cup. If I had used any more, it would have been bubbling over the top of the pot. Next, the race was lovely, but it still sticks at the bottom. I watched for the cooking time to switch from cooked, to warm. I removed the stainless steel insert immediately from the rice maker and it's still stuck to the bottom of the pot. Bottom line, nothing is perfect as long as you know, all this going in know that it makes a lovely fluffy rice. I used jasmine. Can't speak to the steamer yet but we'll update as soon as I do. UPDATE: Thie pic show what happens in the bottom of the pot. No amount of scraping will remove another kernel of rice that is stuck brown to the bottom of the pot. Mahatma Jasmine Brown Rice. 1 part rice, 1 1/2 part water. Can't make more than 3 rice cooker cups of uncooked rice as it boils over the side of the pot. I set a timer. The rice cooker clicked from cooked to warm in 40 minutes. I immediately unplugged the cooker, left the lid on and removed the inner pot from the cooker. I allowed the rice to steam for another 5 minutes. The rice is perfect but I not sure how to feels about so much waste at the bottom of the pot. Also, it's a bit of a task to get it off the bottom of the pot. Wonder if this unit is faulty. ... show more
