Arlo has a great home security system tbat is super easy to install and set up. The home dock emits a pleasant sound that is loud enough to hear whenever a door is opened and when paired with the cameras allows for full coverage of your home. The camera’s themselves have an excellent picture quality and when subscribed to their security plan allow you to save all footage recorded. The battery life of them aswell is excellent. Unless the cameras are constantly going off (which can be adjusted) I only have to charge them once every couple months. This security system is outstanding, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for an affordable security system which is reliable. ... show more

Super simple setup! Everything is performed in the app, all sensors, keypad, and outdoor siren were a breeze. ••Not boomer friendly•• If you cannot follow simple instructions without thinking you know best and skipping steps, this will be an extremely painful setup process.

    • Terrible quality for an arlo device

I was very surprised and very disappointed with this alarm system. Especially for the price point. This device didn’t even work for the duration of the arlo secure trial it came with. Not even half of it actually, within the first week and a half it started disconnecting from the WiFi multiple times a day and half the time I couldn’t even arm the alarm or unarm the alarm when I re entered my home. If I did manage to see the alarm and then couldn’t un arm the alarm upon reentry of my home when it did reconnect to the WiFi it would then notice someone had came through the door and immediately go off and try to call 9-11. After about 5 days or so of that pattern it completely stopped connecting to the WiFi which then led me to factory reset the device in an attempt to fix it since it was hardly over a week old. That just let to the device being a brick and doing nothing as it did not fix the problem and would crash or freeze the arlo app when I did get it to attempt to connect. Most of the time it wouldn’t even search for a network… it is worth mentioning I have over 8 other arlo cameras and a hub for my house already and non of the those devices would disconnect or lose WiFi at any point and my hub and cameras are 5 years old. Its a shame to see how poorly their quality has became. Worst part is, still having faith that I just got a lemon I tried to get a refund and repurchase the same device to give it a second chance because I’m brand loyal and it turns out I bought it on sale and now have to spend an extra 60$ to even give the alarm system another go around. I cannot say I recommend this product. Thats sad to say as I’ve stood by arlo and recommended them to family and friends for years. Boy do I likely look like an idiot ... show more

I recently got the Arlo Home Security System SS1501 and I’m really happy with it! Setup was super easy — the keypad hub and sensors connected in just minutes . I love that each 8-in-1 sensor can detect motion, open/close, leaks, temperature changes and more, so I feel like the whole house is fully covered . I get instant alerts on my phone if anything happens, and there’s no contract required, which is a big win for me .     • Installing upgrades your account which disables old functionality

If you have arlo cameras and use their very advanced automation features, do not get this camera. Installing it will upgrade your account and you cannot get the old features back. For example, if you had one camera detect motion and start recording on other cameras, that is now gone. It is simply schedule or home/away based system. All the new features are gone. I have canceled my arlo subscription and that didn't get it back. I even created a new account, but the new app always installs now. I have hear that arlo was changing their subscriptions this year, but did not expect that :( I will try to get by with this app now (no choice) but arlo has lost a long time customer. ============================================================================== Edit: OK, changed from 1 star to 3. Turns out you can setup one camera triggering other camera recordings. The problem I still have is they changed the app from a camera monitoring app to an alarm system app with 3 hard coded modes (Standby, Arm Home, Arm Away). The system is always in one of those modes, and you have to setup all your camera actions, notifications, and a recordings for each device in EACH MODE! This applies even if you don't have the alarm system. You cannot get the old app back. Because Arlo still has some of the best cameras out there, they improved the camera feed load time, and the new dashboard is kind of useful, I am keeping the system. ======================================================================== Edit 2: OK, up to 4 stars now. I'm keeping one to myself as I think arlo could do a lot to improve things. I am testing out using new functionality to have time schedules for camera notifications. You cannot have a time-based recording system, but you can change the motion detect sensitivity. I'll update if that works. ... show more

setup for me was easy. I already have 7 Arlo cameras and I am familiar with technology but the app makes it easy. I set these up for leak detection in the basement after I did some DIY plumbing... (seriously). the other feature I set up is alarm detection - but I wasn't quite sure how I enjoyed that it had to be calibrated to a specific alarm. this may help reduce false positives, but I actually wanted it to detect non-smart water detector alarms in addition to smoke/co2. overall I am quite happy so far. ... show more

I have owned Arlo cameras for years and was excited when I found out that Arlo now has a home security system. I purchased the five sensors system with wired keypad. Setup of the first sensor was easy. I connected it to the keypad, then attached the sensor and magnet to the sliding glass doors. Worked flawlessly. The problem began with the other sensors. Unfortunately all the other doors in our home have a decorative trim on the frame so it was impossible to get the sensors and magnets to line up. If they aren't lined up the sensors cannot detect motion. I contacted Arlo for assistance but none of the agents I interacted with could provide a viable solution. I basically was told that the sensors won't work with uneven doors. Sadly, I had to return the item. ... show more
