  • Excellent but costly exterior box for 2x6 walls
Color: White Style: Horizontal/1-Gang
This is really a great electrical box for an exterior wall, provided that the wall is deep enough. Usually, it will require a 2x6 framed wall because of the 5" depth. The exterior flange makes it possible to install this in either new construction or as a retrofit. The clean lines and low profile are much better looking than the alternative products with bulging covers, and harmonize with the flat surfaces of most walls. The box is very sturdy and made with sunlight-safe plastic. It has multiple knock-outs on all sides and comes with a NM cable bushing. It would also be easy to attach conduit to it with a 1/2" connector. You supply the receptacle in your choice of styles. A GFI would easily fit. It sits deep enough in the box that a cord can be plugged in and folded down to exit the bottom with the door closed. In my case, I had access to the back of the box and was tapping into power at a nearby interior outlet. It was convenient to install NM bushing, outlet and short length of NM cable before installing the box. Then by tilting the box, the cable can go in first and then the box attached to the wall. My only complaint with this product is the cost. It feels like a rip-off at almost $40, and could probably be sold profitably at half that. But the competition is not cheap either. At least it is nice to have a good quality option compared to what is typically found in the box stores ... show more

  • Superb quality, worth the price
I got this to replace an old surface mount box while doing some rewiring work. I liked that it mounted inside the wall, and there are not many other options in that area. The product that I received exceeded my expectations so much that I am committing to this brand for all future projects. Everything you get with this kit is well thought out and durable. The screws for mounting are all included, and they are quality stainless steel. The ones that attach the cover trim plate have painted heads to match the color of the box. There are two rolls of rope caulk to seal between the box and the siding and between the cover trim and that. For inside the box, there are two 1-gang outlet plates, one for rectangular GFCI and one for regular duplex. The plastic is thick and durable and sure to last a long time. Take the external cover off to get it out of the way while installing the outlet inside. There are two notches in the bottom edge of the box to pass power cords through while keeping the external cover snapped shut, with small black removable tabs in them to keep bugs out when not in use. Hang on to those, toss them inside the box when not in use--there's plenty of room to keep them there. You could probably keep a sandwich in there for lunch too. Installation was easy as far as old work electrical is. I had to work some complicated angles to get the wires through the wall of my 100-year-old house. But a utility knife and a keyhole saw were all I needed to cut the siding and wall board for the box. Take your time to get a nice, good, tight fit. ... show more

  • Awesome low profile weatherproof outlet
Color: White Style: 1/2"
Excellent product. Very rarely does a product perform exactly as I’d like, but this one did. I usually have to make some alteration to make things fit in my specific situation, but this low profile box worked perfectly. Good instructions, very sturdy, and smooth install. Looks great when finished and has a nice low profile. Wires exit the bottom so there really isn’t anything sticking out from the wall. I installed it on the wall next to my patio table so there is constantly traffic passing between the wall and the backs of the chairs, but with the low profile, you don’t need to think about whacking a shin on it as you pass. There’s also a lot of room inside the enclosure so if there is extra cord, you can coil it up in there. Great product. I bought a second, and will always use this for outdoor outlets. ... show more

  • Fits a 4" Wall
Color: White Style: Vertical
I almost didn't buy this because a reviewer claimed this box is 5 1/2" deep so you'd need a 6" wall. I took a chance on it anyway and am so glad I did because it is in fact 3 7/8" deep (from the back of the faceplate to the back of the box) so it fits just fine in a 4" wall. It requires a bigger hole than typical boxes because the body that penetrates the wall is 5 1/2" tall by 3 1/4" wide. (The faceplate, for those concerned about the overall size of what you look at is 7 3/16" tall by 5" wide.) It comes with two switchplate covers, a GFCI rectangle opening and a standard two oval opening, because it uses the switchplate cover to hold the outlet inside the box. It's plastic so it is paintable; I painted mine brown (because it's mounted on wood siding that's stained brown) with Rustoleum specialty plastic spray paint and Krylon satin clear. It's perfect, I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a outside receptacle box. ... show more

  • Best weatherproof box out
Color: White Style: Horizontal/1-Gang
I’m an electrician and use these all the time. Easy to install and so much better looking than surface weatherproof bubble covers. I use these for all my high homes

  • The best exterior outlet boxes ever
Color: White Style: Horizontal/1-Gang
I have been using these for years and can't say enough good things about them. They come with everything you need; the sealant, mounting screws, two different cover plates and push-in cable connector. I have had others of these installed in my home for 15 plus years without issue.
