Rug is very nice and the price is great for the size. My only complaint was that I tried for days to get the creases out of the rug with no success. It was folded for shipping and this left square creases all over the rug. I cleaned it and that didn’t help. I wet it and put it outside in the 107 degree Texas heat, while I constantly pulled and tried to smooth it out. That helped a bit, but it’s still not flat. Placed weight on it to no avail. It was a gift for my son and daughter in laws new home, and I had to head back to PA, so I couldn’t mess with it any more. They were just happy to have the rug. Hopefully once the kitchen table I got them arrives, it will be less noticeable. ... show more

How this arrived. In a sturdy, rectangular, non-retail, non-descript, brown cardboard package measuring 12½” x 15” x 5½” and weighing near 8½ pounds, that’s heavy. What’s inside? The Persian style rug was folded into a rectangle – and tied-up with a strip of saranwrap like plastic, while being placed inside a heavy duty, non-sealed, clear plastic trash kind of bag. [I prefer that this would have been shrink-wrapped, rather than an open package. Reason being, real or imagined, I think the integrity of the rug is better protected in shrink-wrapped, rather than an open bag.] The rug itself weighs in at about 7¾ pounds. Dimensions 5’ x 7’ x 5/64ths of an inch. That is about 1/3rd of a quarter of an inch or about half the thickness of an eighth of an inch. How would I describe its thickness in layman’s term, it’s paper thin. Describe the rug Dusty, plus it has a faded Persian style rug topside, and underneath it feels like a waxy backing. Any labels on the rug? None. There is not a single label on this rug. No brand name. No country of origin. No label declaring what this is made of nothing. I would describe this as a mass productid generic rug. I don’t like that, at the very least, there should have been a label declaring its make-up and what it’s made of. What’s it feels like? Thin, and course topside. Extremely low pile. On the bottom-side, the rug’s backing feels waxy, possibly to create slip resistance. I did not care for the black in color stain already on the back of this rug, the size of a baseball. Any care instructions? Not a thing. Looks? Pleasing. History Persian rugs historically originated from Persia. Oriental rugs originated elsewhere, such as Turkey. Made where? This rug was made in China and bears no OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 label, which I consider an important label that identifies that every component that makes up this rug was tested for harmful substances, which allows us confidence that the rug represents high product safety. Again, no label was associate with this. I do not like that. What drew my attention? Size, color, and price. But the root reason that drew my attention to this rug was that I liked the stunning traditional good looks of this faded Oriental rug, with its vintage charm and coloring. I needed a rug to fill a gap from where another throw rug had been. A much smaller one. Although there is no accounting for my taste, I was not disappointed when this arrived. The design appealed to us from the start and the colors presented were much more pleasing in real life that what was pictured. I found this low pile, low fuzz, rug to be coarse, yet presenting us with a sense, from its weave, of being durable and leaving us with a feeling it was well made from its texture, which I like the feel on my feet. The listing suggested this could be machine washed. I might do that in a commercial washer, only. The backing is the traditional rug weave, versus a synthetic rubber backing. When I selected this, I believed there may be an instance that this could be slippery, depending on the flooring, however, traditional Oriental rugs do not have backing, so, being careful is important or placing something down under the rug may help alleviate concerns about slipping and sliding. I did not think it was too slippery on my hard surface flooring. Further, I do not care for any synthetic backing, as I have found that to breakdown over time and/or stains the floor. Value? The media could not be loaded. This is somewhere between a rug and a canvas print. Honestly, I think the best description for it is "floor tapestry." It's quite attractive, in that deliberately pre-faded sort of way, thre seams are tight all the way around, it's quite large for its price and because of its rubber backing it stays in place very well. The top feels like canvas with a fabric coating. It isn't scratchy and does have a soft feel on the feet or to the hand; just absolutely no plush. It's made for rather heavy duty use and sure looks like it is going to last. But just to make it clear, there's no pile whatsoever. It will probably sweep easier than it will vacuum, although the little auto vacuum went over it trouble free. It comes folded up very tightly and wouldn't sit flat at first, so I wet it with the garden hose, pressed it down and then let it dry in the sun. That worked. I have to admit I'm not going to deliberately stain it in order to find out how well stains come out, but, again, as it has what feels like a rubber backing some spot shot should bring most anything up. I can't vouch for it, but that's definitely the impression I get. So all that said, this is actually a pretty good rug as long as you're not looking for something soft and cushy for the feet. It can go anywhere. It does look nice enough for the living room, but because of the pre-fade and the durability it could go in a teenagers room, too. I'm not sure I would go as far as mudroom! I scooped up this 5x7 Persian style looking rug for my sitting room in my house. The pattern is very beautiful! The carpet is thin, but I expected that much. Also would be a good idea to buy some kind of material that can hold the rug down and not have it slide on the hardwood floor, which I did. The packaging comes in a rectangular box completely folded and wrapped up in clear plastic so you know it's well taken care of during shipping. The rug isn't soft on my feet, but it's not rough either, you just feel like you have some fabric underneath you, but like I said it is not a bad feeling fabric. Overall I'm very well pleased with the look of the rug and the life it brings to my sitting room. ... show more

This rug was to replace an old one that had worn out its welcome. It is a bit on the thin side and the fabric isn't the softest but that's okay, it's not advertised as being some cushy rug and is more for aesthetic than anything. The print is exactly as pictured and the rug was free of any obvious defects. It does not have any anti slip coating on the underside so that is something to be aware of - there are little pieces you can pick up that will keep the corners where you want them. For the price (it's currently on sale for $40) I don't think you'll find a better option. I highly recommend! ... show more

This rug will be perfect in my kids' game room. I like that it is machine washable for those spills that will happen. The design is printed on to appear worn and the coloring are just as pictured and will be just right for my room. I think it will end up requiring a rug pad since it is thin and tends to wrinkle. ... show more

I ordered this for a small reading room and I really love the look of this carpet. It’s a bit thinner than I anticipated but I’m putting padding down underneath it, so it’s perfect. The distressed look gives it an awesome antique feel and it’s a soft texture which is really nice. I would have included a picture but the room is under construction right now.
