I was skeptical about this welding helmet when I first purchased it, I wanted a auto darkening for my shop at the house, so I purchased an arc captain for under 40 bucks. Upon arrival I unboxed it and ran a few beads with my mig and my stick welder. This helmet with the blue lens is the clearest I have ever had the privilege of using, since I was able to see better my welds turned out pretty close to perfect, it was easy to use and I really like the grind setting on this helmet, you really never have to take it off. So I liked the helmet so much I bought two more, one for the wife and another to replace iron man save phase mask at the shop I work at. I've been welding since I was a teenager in shop class and I'm almost 40 years old now, I've used a lot of welding helmets and the arc captain is hands down my favorite and I highly recommend that what ever level of welder you are , get an arc captain, they are well built and in my opinion under priced for the value you get.

This helmet works more often then some of my expensive units. The auto darkening settings are easy to use and the grinding setting works like it is supposed to and is versatile enough to provide a wide arrangement of protect you from debris, sparks, and from going blind from welding! There is a bunch of adjustability for the fitment of your funky dome. Seems to be strong enough to last a while and may stop a grinding disc but I'd rather not try to find out for you.

Honestly I like the helmet I’ve been in a welding shop for a couple weeks now and the welding hood has been great! I have great visibility with the hood the battery life has been great.

Ive used several welding helmets and after having both cheap and high dollar ones fail after a few years use I decided to buy a cheap one with no real expectations. Well this works as good as some of the more expensive helmets I have used. The controls for darkness are very effective. The fit is great and stays on the head as it should. It has a grind and weld mode. To turn of lens sensitivity move switch to grind mode. I would definitely recommend this helmet for both the pro and the home user.
