Often when filing or fabricating small part, I find myself using different clamps to hold things down. Saw this vice and mini anvil and thought it'd help with those tasks. This is a sturdy bench vice and it reasonably price. However, some of the finishes show that I may need to grind and re-refinish it sometime in the near future. There are some alignment issues along with paint chipping on the handle side. The actual anvil is also not flat, which is a problem when fabricating. It does not include any mounting hardware. I temporarily screwed it to my workbench until I can get the proper sized ones at the hardware store. Clamping and swivel actions are good. The handle is a good size and the whole assembly and spin and lock in place. It has a good weight to it. Feels solid when clamping and jaws are parallel to each other. ... show more

    • A budget-grade vise, usable but unimpressive
This is a serviceable, value-priced bench vise, adequate for someone who needs it just for the occasional household project. The quality may not be the best, but it's good enough to get the job done. Frequent users, however, should consider spending a little more money on a better tool. The vise arrived heavily coated in grease, but a quick wipe-down with paper towels got it into workable shape. The slide moves fairly but not entirely smoothly while turning the screw, and the serrated jaws meet with good precision. The anvil is somewhat domed rather than being completely flat, which isn't ideal. The paint job on the vise is mediocre, with some pooled/cracked paint next to the jaws and sloppy application on the slide. The swivel-joint and lock work as they should, but you'll need to supply your own bolts/screws to attach the vise to your bench. Overall, with this inexpensive vise, you get what you pay for. The quality and functionality are passable for occasional use, but I'd want something nicer for regular production/fabrication work. ... show more

    • Useless
Ordered this vice for my work bench and what I got was worse than useless. First, the cardboard box it came in was so old it was literally breaking apart. Shoulda been the first clue. Inside the vise had grease everywhere. Not just on the opening/closing screw but on the jaws and anvil portion and other random places. The handle was missing an end screw so that I had to look for another nut to temporarily keep it in place. And finally…the screw was actually bent such that there was free turning for about 35 degrees and then it seized up and you couldn’t turn it unless you gave it some serious force. Almost made me want to take a torque wrench to it to figure out how difficult it was. Went straight into the trash. Thank goodness this was a promotional item for an honest repair or else I woulda been fuming. ... show more

    • Medium Quality Vise
I would say this is acceptable, but not top-notch. The fit and finish is of medium grade. The paint can fleck off in small spots. The grease from the factory was sloppily applied and more abundant than it needs to be. It took a lot of work to get the grease off. But to be fair this is a vise, a cast iron device that usually isn’t super precise, so some sloppiness is more forgivable. However, I’ve own several other vises and they were capable of more precision and had much better fit and finish than this one.     • Small, strong, and reliable.
The media could not be loaded. Check out my video on this product. This vise is compact and durable. The serrated jaw is wide enough and strong to hold small and midsize objects. It arrived in a secure box with sufficient lubricant on the vise, and it opens and rotates adequately. By the way, it is made of tough steel. I will use it on a work bench in my garage. Mighty mighty bench vise. Came covered, rather absolutely smothered in grease goop which took some elbow grease toget off, but rust free and otherwise ready to go. The entire thing is pretty hefty since its made from cast iron. Four holes in the base allow you to mount this baby to your bench. Jaws provide even grip, and the crank is long enough to give good leverage when needed. So far, works great. ... show more

A vice is a must have for anyone who likes to do some at home projects. It's small, yet heavy duty and sturdy. I will be mounting it onto my tool bench in the near future. Right now it's just moved around as needed so it doesn't have the support and foundation that it needs. It's smooth to operate and keep a secure grip on items. This vise is exactly what you need for a smaller work bench area - and can be used for many home projects. It's very solid - it will last forever. The quality level is medium as the finish is not quite there, i.e. chipped paint, misaligned teeth, uneven hammer area, etc. It works though, and pretty well.
