  • Works great after I fixed it
Style: Arcade 1Up Midway Legacy
This for Arcade 1Up Midway Legacy Edition Arcade Cabinet which was Mortal Combat 1-3, Defender, Wizard of War, Defender, Tapper, Tubbin', Rampage, Bubbles, Paper Boy and Gauntlet. This is the second Arcade 1Up multi game device I have purchased. I have had issues with both out of the box experiences but were easily resolved without needing to contact Arcade 1Up. Assembly: was simple with the WELL documented instructions. Everything was labeled and no parts were missing. They even provide a few extra pieces in a bag labeled "Extra Pieces". Be careful when moving around this during assembly as you could bend or break a few free standing pieces before you attach both sides together. Getting the second side to attach to first was the trickiest and required a second person to hold it as everything was adjusted into their proper place. I did keep the bag the instructions came in and used the last screw in the back to hold it. Operation: It turned on and booted and was playable. It is at the perfect barstool height for playing. I was worried the screen size would be too small but it is not. I like the ability to change the difficulty settings when getting destroyed by the AI in MK II. In Gauntlet, you can only play one or two characters at a time instead of the four in the arcade. You can switch if you die. Rampage rocks but same deal. Tapper is still fun. Tubbin and Bubbles are exactly like the they were in the arcade, alone and the ones which will never get play time. Wizard Wor still pisses me off with super fast movements which never let you you shoot fast enough. Joyst and Defender show I still have the amazing ability to suck as a player. Thanks game makers. The sound is great and the volume will drown out all other noise in the room if turned up. Fixing: After 45 minutes of playing the left Joystick got stuck in the left position. This is player 1 and nothing would really work. I took the control board out of the cabinet (4 screws). Took the cover off the back (8 screws), removed the clear plastic brace, and opened the left toggle switch. These toggle switches are not sealed which is why I did not need to unsolder them and they are easy to troubleshoot and fix. Bravo for this. I was able to adjust (bend) the metal inside that was making the contact stick and put it all back together. Put it all back together and it has been working with massive play time with no issues. All in all, this is awesome and works well. Buy it. ... show more

  • Great arcade fun!!
Style: Arcade 1Up Midway Legacy
My wife and I recently transformed our daughter's old playroom into an adult game room. Adding an arcade cabinet was a no brainer and this was a great choice to add to the room. The cabinet was well packed for shipping and all parts were very well labeled and the instructions were easy to follow. A few panels were a little tricky to put together, but overall an easy assembly, less than an hour. The cabinet looks great (love the light up marquee) and reminds me of seeing the old MKII cabinets in arcades back in the day. Menus are easy to navigate to choose games and settings. The 12 games in total are a very solid collection, with all MK games, plus old school games like Defender, Joust, Rampage, and Root Beer Tapper. I have so much happiness knowing I can go to my game room and play some of my favorite arcade games in a real arcade quality cabinet anytime I want!! I also got the Ms. Pacman 40th Anniversary cabinet to compliment this one, so now I have 2 arcade cabinets!! Such a blast to play and well worth the money if you're an old school arcade gamer like me. ... show more

  • Makes me so happy!
Style: Arcade 1Up Midway Legacy
This arcade cabinet has about 12 games, but so far I tried only MK I, MK II and UMK 3. To be honest, these 3 are sufficient for me. It feels a bit different comparing to playing these games on Sega, but it's really cool, and I like it. Of course, it is not ideal, some special moves are hard to perform, Brutality doesn't work in UMK3, and Scorpion is always beating me, but I cannot rate this item less than 5 stars because it makes me really happy. Every time I walk next to this cabinet - I am smiling, and it brings back so many memories from my childhood. The only thing is, I am 5'11", and I found this cabinet a little bit low for me. But I fixed it by attaching this items which I bought also on Amazon: "ZDDLOINP Bed Risers with Adjustable Screw Clamp, Fits Thickness of Furniture Frame from 0 to 1.5 Inch, Elevation in Heights 4" Heavy Duty Risers for Table Cabinet Support up to 5000lbs (4Pack, Black)". You can see how it looks like on one of the photos I've attached. With these rises - this arcade cabinet is perfect for me. ... show more

  • Better for Show than Gameplay
Style: Arcade 1Up Midway Legacy
The arcade machine was easy to assemble. It took my wife and I an hour or so, with no trouble. It is about half-size of a normal arcade machine. The biggest issue I have is how hard the gameplay is. I have played Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 3 for years (especially MK2 on SNES) and it is waaaayy harder on this machine. Even playing on "very easy" I've yet to beat the game.. something I could easily do on a game console. The joysticks make accurate movement difficult and trying to do special moves is extremely frustrating. We are getting better, the longer we play on it.. but it is not at all what I expected. Some of the simpler games, like Tapper, are easier to manage because the gameplay isn't as complex. But, I bought this specifically for Mortal Kombat 2. The small size of the machine also makes 2 player gameplay crowded. Overall, it is cool to have this good looking (albeit small) arcade machine, but, if you're looking more for the gameplay aspect.. I suggest a console. SNES Classic Emulator, for example. The price is close to the same and the gameplay is much more intuitive. I would probably return this arcade machine if it didn't require disassembly and shipping it back. As it is, I'll keep it and try and sell it at a yard sale in the future. ... show more

  • A lot of great games in this cabinet!
Style: Arcade 1Up Midway Legacy
This is my first Arcade 1up cabinet. They do such a great job packaging and with detailed instructions, very impressed! All the games are fun and if is really cool having your own little arcade. My only real gripe so far is the monitor is a bit grainy. I would buy again.

  • Nice unit
Style: Arcade 1Up Midway Legacy
Was considering building my own or purchasing from another co then saw these. Nice assortment of games and fit and finish is good on these. Unit is not as big as the original games from in the 80's but is big enough. Only real negative is instructions say there is an extra power cord extension and there is not one included. Believe it is a cost saver and manual just was not updated. If you can put together pressed board furniture, you to can build this. ... show more
