  • This pump, tubing and air stone set is terrific! Works GREAT!
Size: 2-Outlet Pattern Name: Aeration Kit
I wanted an air pump and air stones for my pond. My pond consists of a partially buried 350 gallon stock tank, with a 20 gallon lined whiskey barrel waterfall, and a 55 gallon bio-filter. I mounted the air pump up high under my elevated deck, which is behind my pond. I made a shelf for the pump, drilled holes in that shelf for the electrical cord and tubing to route downwards. I also drilled additional holes under the pump for added ventilation. I placed a plastic shoe storage box upside down over the pump. I used four screws as "legs" to give the pump an added gap for ventilation while still giving it optimum protection from the elements. The hoses that are included are very nice quality. I ran these two hoses inside of 1/2" drip irrigation line and routed that parallel to the intake and outlet pipes for the bio-filter and buried all of the pipes. Running the air hoses inside of the drip irrigation line keeps the air hoses from getting pinched. For my specific need I then attached this drip irrigation line to a barbed fitting and that attached to 1/2" PVC pipe. I ran that pipe through the side of the stock tank through a 1/2" uniseal. The result is that the tubing is nice and safe inside of the drip irrigation line. It is buried. It is all HIDDEN. The pump is pretty quiet. It's not noticeable where I have it placed up under my deck. It's about 6 feet above the ground. The waterfall and my other water feature in the yard drown out any air pump sound. The pump puts out a decent amount of bubbles. My stock tank pond is two feet deep and the air stones are resting on the bottom. It's a good amount of aeration for this size of pond. I don't think that I would be impressed with this pump for a larger pond. This is really a large aquarium air pump. It's not going to do much for a large pond. For my purposes, which is about 375-400 gallons of total water volume, it is a perfect pump. If you have a BIG pond, you probably would be disappointed in this pump's performance. I doubt that it would produce much air if the air stones were in water more than two feet deep. Oh yeah, I thought I should mention that I ran this pump and air stones as a test BEFORE I installed it. There is NO difference in airflow after I installed it in the drip irrigation line and buried it. I thought some of you might think the performance was affected by my installation. It was not affected at all. To sum up: I am happy. I have a small pond. If you have a pond of 600+ gallons you would probably want to go with a more powerful set up. If your pond is in the thousands of gallons range then this pump would be very inadequate. I am 100% satisfied with this pump for MY size pond. When the pump dies I might replace it with this same one. We shall see. So far, so good... ... show more

  • Great
Size: 2-Outlet Pattern Name: Aeration Kit
Works perfectly aerating my backyard fish pond in Phoenix. The first one lasted two years. I'm on number two now. Comes with plenty of hose so you can cut it to fit your needs.

  • Indoor??Pond Pump??
Size: 2-Outlet Pattern Name: Aeration Kit
I guess I am not an engineer as I had not noticed the one schematic shows the pump being placed indoors. Now when I got the box, the diagram clearly indicated to place the pump indoors. It never occurred to me that a "Pond" aerator would need to be indoors. I understand an aquarium pump, yes, but not a pond pump. I don't know many people that have their pond close enough to the house to be able plug it in inside and run the tubing outdoors. Just seems like a company like Aquascape, could have engineered this in some kind of housing that would be rated for outdoors. I liked the pump and the tubing enough to try to rig up something the keep the elements out. I put it in a locking plastic food storage container that has a seal. I did drill two holes for the tubing to go through, so it's not "Waterproof" by any means, but hopefully it will be enough to keep the elements out without it overheating and becoming a fire hazard. I then placed it on a paver under my deck. Hoping this is a viable solution. As far as the pump, it's December in my photos, a week before Christmas on the East Coast. Weather has been mild so far with only a few nights of frost, but my fish are extremely active for this time of year and really seem to like the addition of the airstones. My pond is a little over 300 gallons and 2 foot deep. Air output seems good. I will update later about my solution on keeping the elements out, durability and whether this impedes airflow or causes the device to overheat. ***Update*** we had our first snow storm the aerators did exactly what I wanted and kept my pond from freezing. It's only been a month, but it seems to be ok in the plastic-ware container to protect it from the rain. ***Update *** we had a 2nd winter storm hit. The temps got down in the low teens(which is not very common for our area). The top had ice, but it was a thin sheet & the areas above the aerators had zero ice. Last year, the whole top froze over and was really thick ice. I didn't know if my fish would make it through last year. I don't have to worry about that this year. ***Update*** it's now June, I've had it for 6 months. The food storage container seems to be working at keeping the elements out and it has not had any issues with over-heating in the container. These aerators SAVED MY FISH!!!! I recently came home from work and discovered my submersible pump/filter water return pipe had come loose. It had been circulating muddy water into my pond for who knows how long. While I worked on the filter and doing a partial water change, the aerators worked to keep the oxygen levels high. The extra O2 helped return the pond clarity fast without having a catastrophic change in nitrogen or ammonia levels that would've killed my fish. I am SO SO happy with this product and glad I didn't return it. I had considered a return due to it not having a weatherproof/resistant exterior housing. **April 2023** We've gone through a very mild winter. Our summer last year was crazy hot. The aeration it provides to my pond fish has been terrific through all the seasons. The Rubbermaid container I used has been terrific at keeping the elements out. I am very happy with this product almost 1.5 yrs later, running 24/7, no issues at all. ... show more
