This is a nice net but when I first saw it I was very surprised! The pictures in the ad make it look a lot smaller in my opinion. When it shows up you might be surprised, so fair warning! It's probably bigger than you think it is. Otherwise, this is a great net for doing some natural fish catching and micro-fishing the shallows for aquarium sized fish. It would also be great in an outdoor pond or a large indoor aquarium. The length is good and the feel of the material is sturdy. The net itself is soft and has smaller holes than a similar pond net at a local big box store. This is good if you like to catch smaller fish, so they won't fall through the net. This net won't get much use indoors due to its large size, so I am keeping it as a pond net. Overall 4 stars! Thank you and I hope this was helpful. ... show more

I purchased this net for use in my outdoor goldfish pond. Previously the only way to catch fish, or remove small frogs, was to use a large pool skimmer. The skimmer is extremely difficult to wield, the handle was too long even at its shortest, and the net too large to maneuver easily-it was difficult to drag it through the water quickly to catch fish. This net actually is marked the large size despite the listing being labeled as medium. Well, this large is the perfect net size and handle length. This telescopes from about 30 inches to 40 inches in length (pictured) with a simple twist. The handle is very sturdy, and will be durable enough to be used for many seasons. The net holes are the perfect balance of "net vs hole size". This allows the water to flow through quickly enough to catch the fast fish, but small enough holes the littlest fish or tadpoles can be caught. At the time of this review, 3/31/2024, this fantastic fish net is about 17 dollhairs, which is an excellent value. *Please view pictures and any video as I consider them part of my full review. ... show more

Exactly what I was looking for! I needed a net for surveying aquatic life in ponds and was looking for a large, fine mesh net with a long handle. I noticed a couple other reviews that a medium was ordered and a large was sent. I ordered a medium and received a medium that matched the description size, approximately 8”x6” net size. The netting is soft so shouldn’t harm fish, frogs, or any other aquatic species. I like that the handle is fiberglass, extendable, and will not rust. It can be disassembled quickly to fit in a backpack with other gear. The net is very sturdy. A good quality net at a decent price! ... show more

This net being described as extra small is about as accurate as calling a beluga whale an extra small whale. Yeah in comparison with a huge net this is extra small but by comparison with a typical fish net this is just as big as a medium size and that's just the net part! I realize the handle is supposed to be long, it's extendable, but this thing is about 2 feet long when it's collapsed! Then there's the girth of the handle... it's about 1/2 an inch thick on the smaller part and 5/8ths on the larger part! The handle could probably hold the weight of a full-grown salmon! I guess the best use case for this would be if you have an unusually deep tank or pond with small fish and a lot of decorations or plants. My biggest tank is a 26 gallon bowfront which is fairly deep and the reason why I got this, but I don't think I'm ever going to need the full length of this thing. ... show more

    • Great Net For Large Aquariums, Telescoping Feature Needs Improvement

This net is quite large, even for a size "small". I can easily scoop my Tiger Oscar up in it. It looks more like a pool net to me, but it works great in my large aquarium. The netting is a fine mesh, albeit not super fine like your standard wire and mesh fish nets. These are intended for bigger jobs however, so the mesh is well suited for those purposes. I like the shape of the net too, it's boxy and not scooped or rounded like standard nets. The telescoping handle is a nice feature but it could definitely use a little improvement. It extends out to a good length but the problem is the little rubber gasket that's supposed to prevent the pole from sliding all the way out; it fails to do that on occasion and then it has to be reassembled which can be frustrating. I don't need that kind of length in my aquarium so I don't use that feature, but it's worth noting if you are ordering this specifically for the telescoping handle. It's very sturdy too! It doesn't bend like your average wire fish nets, it's a more substantial pole/handle and more durable as well. Overall it's great for the price and I prefer this design to the standard nets any day. ... show more
