    • too big for a small tank 10 gal size
this was a dream come true till it was too tall for my tank, just what I wanted, something to suck the water and clean it but not drain it from the tank. If they had a smaller version I would jump at the chance to get it. this thing cleans great and fast but only for a bigger tank. I did use it but water was everywhere and it was hard to keep the pump under water. ... show more

    • Not enough motor power to suck anything up
This product comes with many pieces and attachments and the directions do not show how to connect them. There is very little suction and only pulls water, not debris on bottom of tank. It is also very bulky and the drainage hose not long enough to reach a bucket unless your tank is a few inches from the ground, which most are upwards of 36” or more, so dirty fish water drains all over the floor before you realize the hose is 1-2 feet too short. This is a very poor and inefficient design and product is very expensive for the poor quality. You are better off just using a gravity suction vacuum for one- third the cost. If the motor strength were greater, the drainage hose longer and directions on how to assemble came with it, maybe it would be worth it, but this is definitely a fail on price, quality, efficiency and effectiveness. Also I submitted a request for return and instead they sent a replacement without my permission and now I have to return a second one as well, so communication with the seller also poor. They also have a very long refund period of over 30 days after they receive the product back, whereas most issue a refund once received by the UPS store within 3-5 days.     • Had to return, got clogged every few seconds and just blew the bag filter off non stop
It kinda works but is such a PITA to use i just returned it and went back to the Tetra self suctioning kit. I do like it in principle, but the filter "bag" is maddeningly annoying. The moment you start vacuuming the gravel itll clog and blow the filter/bag right off, releasing the media right back into the water. After abt 25-30 times in 10-15mins of trying to clean the bottom gravel and blowing off the filter in mere seconds, i gave up, repacked it and used the simple Tetra siphon substrate cleaner and bucket. The media could not be loaded. So as a hobbyist I started with 1 tank and now have 7. Water changes and cleaning can be a pain we all know. But this AQQA Gravel Cleaner system is AMAZING! FAVORITE Aspects: 1. I have a 55 gallon on a stand I am very short person (not that strong either) this gravel cleaner is ELECTRIC and you don't spend time manually getting it started or having to take it a part to get it to work. 2. So for my large tank the only way to clean it is to pump into 5 gallon bucket then dump it, so with the gravel cleaner it can be used with the pump base with suction cups so I can stick it to th bottom of the bucket and it will pump the water out instead of lugging the bucket around!! Saves my back (seriously was considering getting rid of my big tank bc of the physical labor involved). Also attachment yubes make it long enough for me to clean standing on the floor instead of a chair. 3. What is even better is the hose is long so I can fill the 5 gallon bucket up add conditioner and pump it back into the tank without having to move the bucket. So easy. And I timed it to pump the 5 gallon bucket of water into the tank less than 2 minutes. I also tied pumping out a 10 gallon tank I was taking down and it took under 3 minutes! TIME SAVER! 4. I have sand in 6 of my tanks the sand vacuum picks up the yuck without picking up all my sand. 5. I also breed for profit snails and shrimp and with the filter pads in this particular piece I am able to save baby snails and shrimp. MONEY SAVER! 6. Another awesome thing with that attachment is all you do when your done is rinse rhe pads and use again. 7. The shower attachment with sock allows me to clean my shrimp tanks and reuse the water and removes the waste. Shrimp are sensitive and need small water changes. 8. The other attachment are great as well. The brush head helps to clean rocks (1 tank with gravel) the water intake cleaner can also be use to scrape algae of glass as well. THE ABSOLUTE BEST PART IS THE SUCTION POWER AND TIME SAVING. I am no longer spending half the day to clean all my tanks. Now can be done in under 2.5 hours even adding water back to tanks. So for the price it is amazing. I have spent 3 times this amount over the past year (bc I was being cheap) buying manual start vacuums. So worth the money. It also includes a booklet on how to put together with a nice storage box once it dries. I recommend this product 100%. ... show more
