    • A lot of bang for the buck!
As an experienced professional filmmaker, I’m accustomed to having the latest and greatest high-end gear on set (often the most expensive). In building out my own personal production kit I knew I couldn’t invest the thousands of dollars per fixture like I use in my day to day, and needed to find the right cost effective and capable system to get me as close to what I’m used to. Enter Aputure lighting. The build quality and quality of light that Aputure fixtures and modifiers provide is really great. I’d had opportunities to use some of their larger fixtures prior to purchasing the 60xs and was excited to see what this little light could do. After a few days of testing it out I can officially say “WOW!!!” What an amazing little light! Lots of punch, super portable, and fast and convenient to work with when “running and gunning”. The app controllability is HUGE too! I find that to be a big time saver, and I love not having to step out from behind the camera and step over cables/set pieces to go adjust a light in 5-10% increments. The built in effects in the app will definitely come in handy too. Just a couple of things to be aware of when considering these 60xs fixtures: 1) the light beam has a pretty significant hot spot in the center when using just the provided reflector. The provided diffuser helps even this out pretty well, and can be further adjusted with any other typical light modifier. The Aputure 4545 light box is giving me great results. 2) provided case can be difficult fitting all cables/adapters back in. It’s a super tight fit, and I personally wouldn’t mind a slightly bigger case that could also accommodate a couple of batteries to power the lights. 3) If you’re considering purchasing the add-on handle grip, be aware that it has some minor design flaws…read the reviews on that first so you know what to expect. I have wanted to upgrade my lighting for a while now, and this light was the answer. It's a very affordable light that offers a lot of bang for the buck. OK so 1st of all I'm no expert on all things studio lights BUT, I did do a ton of research and constantly came back to this light. It is easily controlled by the Sidus App that comes with the product for free and is easy to use if the app is not for you. It's also bright enough. If you're wanting to use this outside trying to fight the sun then this is definitely not the correct light. If like me, you have a modest home studio and want soft lighting via a soft box, then this works perfectly. I can fins absolutely nothing to complain about with this light, especially at this price. ... show more

Was worried given that it didn’t have that many reviews, but it’s definitely legit! It’s very bright for its small size. Also, it works decent during overcast for a 60W. Best to get the aputure soft box 4545 with it for indoors

Does exactly what I needed. Bought this as a fill light to use with a Aputure 4545 Softbox and it does the job very well. My YouTube room is 10’ x 12’ and honestly this could easily be used as a key light in a room my size, probably one even larger. Color control and brightness is fantastic. I very much like this light. It gets very bright for the space I'm using it in. I am mostly using it for lighting paintings, still life, and some video shoots, all indoors. The app is cool so you can control it from your phone. The built in effects are hit or miss in my opinion. The fire and explosion are somewhat convincing, the lightning, fireworks, tv, and paparazzi could use some work. I like how the app has a match source option so you can take a photo of a light source and it tries to match the color temp. It's very light weight also, so can mount to just about anything. It was worth buying, and will be getting the larger softbox as my next accessory. ... show more
