Frequently asked questions

The term 'renewed' indicates that this MacBook Pro has been refurbished or restored to like-new condition. This typically involves a rigorous testing process to ensure the laptop meets all of Apple's original manufacturing standards. This can include replacing any faulty parts, thorough cleaning, and repackaging with relevant accessories and paperwork.

Apple's Retina Display is a brand name for screens that have a high pixel density enough to make the small details in images invisible to the naked eye at a normal viewing distance. This results in sharper images and text, providing a superior viewing experience on the MacBook Pro.

The Core i5 processor in this MacBook Pro is a powerful CPU from Intel. It offers fast processing speeds, which can significantly boost the laptop's overall performance. This makes it ideal for multitasking, running heavy applications, and even certain types of gaming.

A solid-state drive (SSD) is a type of storage that uses flash-based memory. Compared to traditional hard drives, SSDs are faster, quieter, and less prone to mechanical failures. The 256GB SSD on this MacBook Pro offers ample storage space for documents, pictures, music, and video files, and allows applications to load quickly and run smoothly.

  • For the price, you can’t beat it!
Bought this for my child in high school. I wanted something she could use and count on, since the computers given at the school were hand me downs and slow. This worked great. They even run ADOBE without any issues and they can access all their schools programs. Since it’s an older model, it has the older plug, but it’s not an issue. Has USB which they love and runs very well. No issues with the battery life. It came loaded with the latest OS, big plus! The biggest plus for me is that since it’s not the latest and it’s inexpensive, I don’t worry about how they use and abuse it. Worth every penny! ... show more

  • Incredible bargain.
The unit was in excellent condition. The only complaint I have was the battery charger was defective with an intermittent problem. I purchased a new charger on Amazon and everything is functioning correctly. I did contact the seller, but it was quicker just to purchase another charger.

  • Buyer Beware
I'm not really sure where to begin.. I was overall skeptical about ordering this MacBook because of the reviews and overall, the idea of a renewed product (I have never purchased any renewed device until now). I ordered this MacBook in "excellent" condition which I assumed wouldn't actually be "excellent" because after all... the MacBook is a little over seven years old. From initially opening the box, I noticed everything seemed to look pretty much perfect. There was one or two minor nicks in the actual body of the MacBook which obviously is no big deal. When looking at the screen however, I noticed there was a small "hole" in the screen probably about the size of the tip of a ballpoint pen (when the display was on, this hole is not really noticeable). As far as cosmetic damage goes, that was the only noticeable thing. The charger was an entirely different story.. The charger looked like it had been thrown in a bucket full of white paint and left out in the sun to dry (it was very crusty and gross). While this didn't bother me because it still worked perfectly fine, I didn't see how this fit the title of "excellent" or even "good". When going to power on the Mac, it showed the low battery sign, so I let it charge for around five minutes and came back to power it on. I got nervous when nothing was happening, but I just stayed patient because I assumed maybe it hadn't been powered on in a while. After another five minutes, the MacBook eventually booted up and prompted me with the setup. I went through setup perfectly fine, then when I got to the home screen of the MacBook, that's when I noticed how messed up the display colors were. The screen had a green tint on it (mostly the darker colors like black were reflecting this green tint, and the lighter colors like white were surrounded with a purple/pinkish tint). I was immediately disappointed when I noticed this and began to wonder what else was wrong with the MacBook. I ran a pixel test on YouTube and was able to notice what seemed like a screen "tear" around where the tiny hole in the display was (but again it wasn't that noticeable). I was about ready to pack it up and send it back but noticed that after about 10 ish minutes of being on it, all the tint effects went away and the colors looked perfect and how they should look. I thought the problem was resolved and that the MacBook just needed to be turned on after a while and that's why there was a tint. However, when powering on the MacBook the next day, the process repeated itself; the tint colors went away after 10 minutes. I noticed that if I just left the MacBook in sleep, instead of shutting down, and went back to it after multiple hours, the tint was not there (this was my workaround to the problem). As far as the battery goes, it is just fine (about 320 cycles at the time I received it). Overall, I am a college student and got this MacBook because I wanted to take notes and whatnot with it in class. So far, it is doing a fine job with doing that. I definitely would not have listed this MacBook in the "excellent" category, but I am honestly just too lazy to send it back for a replacement (mainly because I am afraid the next one might be even worse). My recommendation to others is to not expect it to be like brand new. I do not regret my purchase. ... show more

  • I’m still learning
I love what the Mac is opening up for my business needs. It is definitely difficult to get used to. A lot of ways a Mac is different from an iPad. I don’t love the pad that you have to touch to move everything. I keep touching the screen lol!

  • A really good option to try out MacBooks without the heavy expense
The product arrived well packaged. At first I didn’t catch the wear on the machine. First impression was good. As I spent more time with it, I caught the very slight dent at the side of the screen, which unless you really look for it, does not stand out and hasn’t bothered me much while using daily. I had to run a ton of updates to get caught up. After than it’s been running fine. As fast as I would imagine a brand new one runs. One other flaw that I caught later on is the battery life, battery drains out in about 1hr -1.5hrs max. I guess it was to be expected given that the laptop is almost 7 years old, but would have been nice to swap it out for a new one as part of the renewal process. All in all, you get what you pay for. In this case, it still feels like a good deal despite some of the faults when I look at the price of a brand new one. ... show more
