Description

There’s no mistaking the “Late 2013” Mac Pro models for the ones before it, as they feature a “radical” departure Apple describes from the large, highly expandable design of yesteryear and instead feature a compact, glossy dark gray cylinder design that’s about one-eighth the mass but has limited internal expansion. Apple explained that these “Space Gray” cylinder Mac Pro models are “designed around an innovative unified thermal core” and have not only faster processors than previous models, but also dual workstation-class graphics processors, faster memory, and faster PCIe 2.0 x4 flash storage. In lieu of internal expansion, the system provides ample high-speed ports for external connectivity options. Specifically, this model, the "Quad Core" Mac Pro 3.7 (Late 2013), is powered by a single 3.7 GHz 22nm Xeon E5-1620v2 Quad Core processor with a dedicated 256k L2 cache for each core and 10MB L3 "Smart Cache." It includes 64GB of 1866MHz DDR3 ECC SDRAM, a 512GB SSD, and dual AMD FirePro D300 graphics processors with 2GB of GDDR5 memory each. Connectivity includes six Thunderbolt 2 ports, an HDMI 1.4 UltraHD port, 4 USB 3.0 ports, and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, plus 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0. Originally, this model supposedly supported up to three 4K displays or six Thunderbolt displays. However, on June 16, 2015, without updating the graphics cards, Apple quietly increased official support to up to three 5K (5120x2880) displays, two using Thunderbolt 2 ports and one using the HDMI port. Support for up to six 2560x1600 displays using the six Thunderbolt 2 ports remained unchanged.

  • Rebuilt and running like a charm.
The 64 GB was the selling point. Glad I purchased it. Others told me not to, but now they are taking a second look. Quality work went into this Mac Pro. Will be upgrading to 128 GB and placing a 2TB - 4TB solid state drive in it when available. Graphic cards will be upgraded as well. I do high intensity video and graphics on this machine with the Adobe suite. ... show more

  • I wanted to make this work so bad
I am a big fan of the trash can. I wanted this to be my primary desktop for editing videos. I read online you can use this in tandem with the Black Magic GPU and produce some awesome results for not a lot of money. I was in the process of acquiring the GPU of Martketplace and the seller said I have a Mac Book Pro if you are interested. That setup was going to be less than this was. So no this was to become my network store! So I begin setting it up and .... freezing ... rebooting ... freezing .... rebooting. I can’t remember how many times I went through this cycle. I had all my drives setup and accessible and ready to go but I could not keep this device operating. It is a beautiful piece and I am aware that may be unpopular opinion but it is mine. I like the view, the sound, the weight of this device. I just wished mine would have worked for me. ... show more

  • More than expected
I did order this with the expectation of have to do some work to it, at least, an upgrade to the OS. It came with Mac Big Sur installed. This machine came ready to work and has performed well. I would recommend this seller to anyone looking for a good used computer. Well done !!

  • Check out the Operating System closely........
These machines are being sold with older operating systems on them. They are late 2013 models, and as such, should be capable of running the latest OS, OS 12 Monterey, Apple's newest. I find it highly suspicious that the sellers haven't upgraded the operating system to OS 12. Why wouldn't you, if you could, as it would make the machine far more attractive to buyers. I strongly suspect that if one were to submit the serial number for any of these to an Apple support agent, that agent would not be able to find it in his/her data base. I bought one & had that exact experience! When, during the course of supporting a customer's purchase of a new Apple computer, it comes to light the the machine is defective and cannot be repaired to original specs, Apple 'flags' it and removes its serial number from all of their data bases. They won't give phone support for such a machine, nor will they accept one for repair at an Apple store. If you decide to try one of these, the first thing you should do upon booting it up, is to ask it for a software update. If it offers up OS 12, no harm, no foul. But, if it offers no upgrade to the OS, beyond a version of OS 10, I strongly suggest that you arrange to return it immediately. If you've already put any personal data on it, boot it in recovery (boot holding down the command and the R keys). Once it's up, launch disk utility and erase the hard drive. Then, quit Disk Utility, and from the resulting menu, select reinstall OS. Let it run its course, but when it finishes, don't do anything to set it up. Just shut it down and return it. The seller will receive it void of your files, and in exactly the same condition in which it was delivered. ... show more
