  • Not worth the money
Color: Space Gray Capacity: 16GB RAM Style: Intel core i7 2.6GHz Set: 512GB SSD
The MacBook I received had several cosmetic scratches and some keys were not functioning properly. Based on this experience, I don’t think it was worth the price. I would recommend checking the condition carefully before purchasing.

  • THIS THING ROCKS!
Color: Space Gray Capacity: 16GB RAM Style: Intel core i7 2.6GHz Set: 512GB SSD
I love my new MacBook Pro. Coming from a lifelong Windows guy, that’s saying something. I’ve been a Windows tech/support person (retired) for over 25 years. Over that time, I’ve had very little interaction with the Mac OS. I’ve known for years that the Mac OS is a better, more secure and more robust OS, but that didn’t mean I wanted a Mac. Well, that recently changed. I took on a part time job doing support for a Linux NAS server, and an office full of Macs. To support the Mac users, I needed to fully understand the Mac OS. This brings us here. TO THE POINT Do not listen to the negative reviews for these “Renewed” MacBook Pros. My MacBook Pro arrived in perfect condition. Everything checked out like a brand new computer. It did have 50 charges on the battery, so someone did use the computer, and for some time. You could not tell by looking at the unit. I will also add that these computers are supposed to come with a fresh OS install. Mine did have residue from the previous owner, so I’m guessing they don’t always give you a clean install of the OS. That being said, if you get a Mac that doesn’t meet your expectation’s, just send it back. My plan was to give it a try. If after three attempts, I didn’t get a “good” one, I would give up. I didn’t need to do that. I was very happy with the first one I received. You can’t beat the price! To buyers coming from a Windows OS to the Mac OS. When I ordered my new Mac, a friend of mine (who has been a Mac tech longer than most people reading this right now have been alive) told me “don’t bring your Windows mind to the Mac”. This is so true. Don’t start by loading up your new Mac with Microsoft apps etc. Try Apple Pages, or LibreOffice (free download). Give the Mac way a chance. Forget about right click. Yeah, Mac has the Control click to show the context menu, but you will not see the Windows type options for creating a new document etc. Instead, open the app, create your document and then save it. It’s just a different way of doing things, but give it a chance before complaining about the way the Mac OS does it. That’s all. Enjoy your new Mac and have some fun… ... show more

  • Exceeded My Expectations!
Color: Space Gray Capacity: 16GB RAM Style: Intel core i7 2.6GHz Set: 512GB SSD
I was a bit hesitant about buying a refurbished MacBook Pro, but I’m thrilled I did! The laptop arrived in pretty great condition—honestly, I wouldn’t have guessed it wasn’t brand new. It only has a couple of minor scratched on the top, but besides that, it has no visible scratches on the screen itself, and runs like a dream. The performance is incredibly smooth, and the battery life is fantastic—it easily lasts me through a full day or two of work without needing a charge. I also love that it came with an official Apple charger (which was a pleasant surprise since I’ve heard of other customers receiving third-party ones). The features themselves are advanced, making everything from multitasking to video editing a breeze. I feel like I got an amazing deal for a high-end product. If you're on the fence about going refurbished, I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • A proprietary work of art.
Color: Silver Capacity: 16GB RAM Style: Intel core i7 2.6GHz Set: 512GB SSD
I’ve owned multiple MacBooks with the allegedly notorious butterfly keyboard switches; both the 13 inch and 15 inch models. I must mention that I’ve never had problems with jamming, the keys eventually breaking, repeated key input, etc. Perhaps that’s because I also purchased a keyboard cover and case for them. Anyway, as for the rest of the hardware: Apple is lagging behind in screen, with their competition using 4K resolution as a standard. I look at the screens on all the MacBook sizes, and the difference in resolution (when next to 4K Windows laptops) is significant. Maybe this was intentional as high resolution screens are among the main energy drainers in laptops and Apple intends to have reasonable battery life. The speakers in these MacBooks are still top notch. They are (way) ahead in sound quality. I wish Apple partnered with NVIDIA with (e)GPU compatibility like before with the 1xxx cards and macOS High Sierra. That is no longer the case with their most recent RTX 2xxx video cards and macOS Mojave or later. Although AMD cards lead in price to performance ratio, there are some things that you can only use in NVIDIA cards like CUDA cores, and some apps/games with ray tracing. Touch Bar? I’m a software engineer, and I’d much rather have physical function keys. It does look nice and attracts attention when you’re out there looking to test and buy a MacBook Pro in the Apple store. As someone experienced in building hardware and repairing my own computers if they break, the MacBooks disappoint. The non-retina MacBooks from 2012 were the last of its kind that allow battery RAM/SSD replacements. This is the biggest letdown for me. I don’t think Steve would take part in the non-modularity of modern MacBooks. The MacBooks of the past were both pioneers of design and engineering. Now it’s just the former. Touch ID is a nice touch, pun intended. If Touch ID makes a return in the latest iOS devices, as a screen-embedded feature, then great. I find it more convenient to use compared to Face ID. Despite the MacBook’s downfalls, it is still a laptop to consider for professionals. Booting with multiple OS and Xcode are the main reasons I stick to MacBooks. ... show more
