APEC ultimate high capacity pre-filter set is made in USA with high quality filtration components to provide a longer lasting filter set to protect and prolong the lifespan of your reverse osmosis system. Premium quality filter set lasts over 12 months for fewer filter change outs and high performance impurity removal. These standard size filters are 10 inch and compatible with all standard size under counter ro systems. 1St stage: high-grade 10 inch high-capacity polypropylene sediment filter -removes dirt, particles, and rust. 100% pure polypropylene depth filter with exceptional dirt-holding capacity translates to longer life and fewer change-outs than existing string- wound or resin-bonded filters. 2Nd and 3RD stage: premium extruded carbon block 10 inch -gets rid of unpleasant chlorine, tastes, odors, cloudiness and colors. Also removes VOC and other common harmful impurities from the water. Apec's extruded carbon block filters consist of activated carbon particles fused into a uniform block with enhanced adsorptive capacity and efficiency. Unlike granular activated carbon (GAC) filters, these extruded carbon block cartridges will not channel or bypass due to the extreme uniformity of their extruded activated carbon core. Compatible for apec RO-45, RO-90, RO-PERM, RO- PUMP and all other standard size under counter reverse osmosis systems. I was a little nervous it would be difficult to replace these filters, this was the first time I had to get replacements. When I initially installed them, I didn’t over, tighten them, and never had a leak. When I went to put these in, the old canisters unscrewed easily, and these new ones fit right in, very easy. It’s a little bit wet, so be sure to have some towels around, but really it only takes a few minutes to replace. ... show more

2nd UPDATE: I had lowered the number of stars because we were getting a lot of mineral build-up that we didn't get with the original set, but to be fair, the product doesn't claim to remove minerals. I know these filters are not designed to specifically filter out minerals, however, the first set we had that came with unit did do a much better job than these so I have nothing else to compare these to. I will say that after a few months, they do seem to be filtering out more hard mineral, probably because they are getting full, and honestly, that's fine with me because I clean my electric kettle less often. That said, the water still tastes GREAT! The old and new filters have always improved the taste of our water 1000%. Hard water can taste very nasty. Plus, the APEC people recently contacted me and have sent another set of filters just because they are nice people and want me to be happy with their products. I still don't know why the first set filtered minerals well even though it wasn't supposed to. But I'm thrilled with the APEC water filter at our kitchen sink. We drink this water and I often use it for cooking, too, just to minimize the harmful garbage normally found in tap water. Thanks, APEC! Original Review: Only four stars because even weeks after changing filters, we are finding a huge amount of mineral sediment in our electric kettle. We have hard water and we know not to expect any of our filters to completely get rid of mineral build-up. While these filters do improve the water taste considerably, the original filters included with the unit did a much better job at filtering minerals. Yes, we still had mineral build-up but not to the point of having to clean the kettle twice a week with vinegar. We only used to clean it once a month. I was wondering why my RO system wasn't making water in my tank. It was actually because my filters were clogged (1 to 3). I've owned my RO system for several years and have changed them accordingly but this was the first time I had this problem. Anyways, changing the filters did the job.
