    • Make sure your outlet has a middle screw

Needed a small surge protector with multiple outlets. Figured this would work perfectly. Got it and found out it is not usable unless you have the old fashioned outlets with a screw in the middle. Does not work with the modern Decora style outlets that do not have a screw. Checked the specs on Amazon again, and could not find that piece of info anywhere. It’s only in the fine print of the instructions that it says that you can’t use it in an outlet without a middle screw. Most modern homes built within the past 15 years can’t use this as they have modern outlets. Will see what Amazon says about return for a full credit. ... show more

    • 1.2 AMP USB Charging Ports, ..Not 2.4amp!!

Just purchased 2 of these APC-6 Outlet Surge Arrester with (2), 2.4amp usb chargers. When I plugged in my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with fast charging technology, to my Surprise neither of my phones would fast charge. The phone's Fast Charging option shuts off when I plug it into the "Supposedly" 2.4amp usb charge port. My phones came with a Adaptive fast charger (2.0amp) and when I used this on 1 of my Note 4 phones and used the APC usb port on my 2 Note 4 phone,....The results were shocking. The APC 2.4amp usb port charged at a Much Slower Speed than using my Adaptive Fast Charger. This caused me to be very concerned. I contacted APC (Schneider Electric) and gave them the model #. The technician informed me that the 2 ports are ACTUALLY 2.4amp "COMBINED". I informed her that the website Claims the opposite of what she is telling me. She said that if I read the Information sheet that comes inside the box, it will state that the Usb ports are 2.4amp combined. I called Amazon and have informed them of the situation. Amazon acted quickly to pull their "Ships and Sold by Amazon" from this particular Model. False Advertising by the Manufacturer again. 3 times I read on this model that it has (2) 2.4amp usb ports. Unfortunately it is actually (2) 1.2 amp usb charging ports. APC is a Good brand, but I am very disappointed to learn they also falsely advertise like So Many other companies. If you don't mind Slow Charging your Smart phones or Laptops, Well this will be a good Surge Arrester and product for you. But I Specifically was wanting a True Fast Charging duel Usb ports for my phones and laptop. ... show more

    • Bad USB charging. can stop working after few months

I have purchased this product over a year ago the unit one day just stop working without any reason after few moths. on there website you can't find any warranty info. I didn't start using the product for the fist few months. Also the USB charging port is not as strong as advertise, You can't charge an iPhone 7/8 plus or new iPad generation in high speed its even slower then the original you get. regardless if you have any App running it will charge and drain the battery at the same time. if you use an iPad it will take hours to half a charge and if you watch youtube the charging can't keep with the video running. the original will be better. ... show more

    • Don't Make Mistake I Did

It charged my iphone only once; but now won't charge it. Lights are green on protector saying it's working. I missed the return deadline. It wasn't my primary charger-- if you buy one of these, use it right away, and more than once or twice to make sure it works. I guess I can still us the outlet /surge protection unit but if there's a problem with the usb charging unit, makes me wonder about the rest of it. Too bad--I liked it's design features. Follow Up: I contacted APC.com and was able to get my SurgeArrest replaced because of the lifetime guarantee. Contact the company directly if you have issues with your purchase and you miss the return date through Amazon. ... show more

    • Probably adequate for a single phone, but inadequate for a phone and a table at the same time.

I wanted to be able to plug in a phone and an android tablet next to my easy chair - but without having to use 2 USB power blocks. While this one works, its output is adequate for ONE of the two but not for both, so while it does what it claims it will do, it just isn't up to the task of powering both simultaneously. (Starting with a full charge on both the phone and the tablet, in 6 hours or so both of them die from lack of power, so unless I got a bad unit I I can't recommend this to anyone unless he/she has only a SINGLE device to power. But it's my fault because I misread its power output when I was buying it. Nevertheless, this was a surprise as I have MANY APC devices (8 UPS's of various ratings, a dozen or so power strips,plus a couple of "grounding adapter) and all of the others are excellent and exceed their specs by significant margins. This one doesn't. Recommended ONLY if you have a device or devices which require not more than 2.395 amps (that being what the meter tells me this is putting out). ... show more

This little surge protector is pretty awesome, I have to say. Usually the wall units are too heavy and tilt out of the outlet, but this design is perfect. First, get a flathead screwdriver and remove the screw that holds your outlet cover on. Next, hold the outlet cover in place and plug the unit in...the little screw on the back of the unit will perfectly line up with the hole the previous screw was in. Use the screwdriver to put that screw in...don't overtighten. Brilliant idea tho, as that little screw holds the unit in place perfectly. Nice to have holes line up for a change! Also great idea to have outlets on both sides of the unit, too. ... show more
