  • Great chair for the money!
I’ve had this wheelchair for my 113 lb 18 yr old son for 8 months now. He can not control the chair himself so I made a separate carbon fiber push bar for manually maneuvering around tight areas or crowded locations and we remounted the main controller onto the back of the chair. We were originally just going to use the rear controller but found that you can’t go full speed using it which in all fairness makes sense. First off, it’s comfortable even for me at 220lbs and my son loves so much he will choose it to sit in even with other chairs available. Battery life is excellent. We have been to an amusement park built into the side of large hills and 1 battery lasts all day even with the steep hills. It is fast enough that I have to do a partial walk jog to keep up with it but he loves speed so I would add more if I could. It’s not a con though. It’s lighter than his manual chair from Convaid but still heavy enough at 40ish lbs that I’m designing and building an auto loader for our SUV. This one has also been modified with some parts removed to make it lighter like the hubcaps and fenders which actually make it look much better as a bonus. I added 10oz in carbon with the push bar and brackets. I also made the push bar into a latch that holds the chair closed when folded instead of using the Velcro strap that was included. I also took the net from underneath the convaid stroller chair and it fits on this one as well so we have a carry basket underneath it. The chair is well made with Abec7 wheel bearings in the wheels which is CNC spindle bearing class of bearings and I know this from pulling it apart for hub removal. I would recommend this chair a million times over as it has been very reliable, comfortable, great range, and light enough for our use. It was definitely the lightest for the money that we could get. Would I take this chair off road? No. It’s more suited for concrete and pavement and you do have to be careful about large cracks in concrete in the range of over 2”. We rarely ever see that so it’s fine for our situation. It could handle grass but not soft ground really. You also need to be careful on sudden steep transitions where the angle of hill changes abruptly. There haven’t been any hills that this chair has had an issue though. It climbs everything or at least it does with 140lbs load which includes his medical supplies in addition to him. We also have dual cupholders attached to the back and hooks for attaching bags. ... show more

  • Update: After just over 2 weeks experience with this chair
I am an 84 yo male, who had my right leg amputated, above the knee, in July 2023. Since then, my Health insurance provided a rather simple wheelchair which has helped me with the first stages of coping with only a single leg. My wife has done ALL the driving, but has struggled with loading the heavy chair into our SUV. As we have always loved to travel, especially on cruises, we both knew that I needed to purchase an electrically powered chair that can be taken on aircraft and cruises, to be used both on ship and on shore excursions which could be quite long. Selecting what to buy became rather difficult when searching for one that could be easily loaded into the car, as almost all electric wheelchairs are so very heavy. Then, after much searching, I came across the new, carbon fibre chair by Aotedor, available from Amazon. Furthermore, it was priced aggressively at just under $2,000. I ordered one as soon as I saw its technical details, which included a weight of just 35lbs and a range of 25 miles. The chair arrived at my home in Lincoln CA, a few days later, one day before the predicted delivery date. I am a lifelong "techie", competent with both electronic and mechanical engineering, so was very keen to look in the box! My first impression was that it was extremely well packed. After removing the fully-assembled unit from the box, I started noticing its design features, which are also very good indeed. It is definitely a "minimalist" design, using carefully selected materials for every component part - with Carbon Fibre being used wherever practical. Strength and rigidity seem to have **NOT** been sacrificed for weight. It came with two Lithium batteries (one is installed in the chair while the second is a spare) giving a claimed range of 25 miles, and a weight of just 35lbs. Batteries are easily interchanged and the "spare" can be charged while not installed. I should note that the engineering of the Aotedor chair shows excellent attention to detail. For example, where components of the frame are bolted together, there are no sharp ends of excessively long bolts used (unlike the rented chair). Thus far, I have only used the chair within our home, but have plans to use it on some of our 26 miles of community trails this weekend, with my wife and our dog walking alongside. I have high hopes that it will fulfil my expectations. ========= After 2+ weeks using this chair: I really like this chair although do have one wish for improvement! The chair is lightweight, so my wife (almost 80yo, with serious arthritis in her hands+wrists) is able to load it easily into our SUV. Although I have not actually used it on grass, I anticipate a challenge with traction, as the driven wheels have very little tread. It works very well around the home, but I do wish that the torque was a bit greater when driven in reverse. It can be troublesome on deep carpet, although driving forwards is problem free. I am very impressed by the rigidity and strength of the chair's construction. It is as strong as, but FAR lighter than, my manual chair that is constructed mostly from steel tubing. FYI, I weigh about 132lbs (after one leg was amputated above the knee). Altogether, I am exceedingly happy with the Aotedor 35lb foldable chair and wholeheartedly recommend it. • good, but no cigar
It's been a little over a week since it arrived a few days after I ordered it. It was easy to unpack and get ready to go. I took it to a museum that was very busy and I maneuvered around the exhibits and thru the crowded aisles without hitting anyone or knocking over any displays. My niece, who took me, really liked the way it folded and infolded, also the light weight. After using it for seven hours that day the battery still had 40% charge. update, six weeks-- the front wheels are too small for grass and gravel. It's not an all-terrain winner. It sometimes hangs up getting over a 2'" crack in the sidewalk. It may do well on well groomed perfect lawns but I didn't feel comfortable on grass after a short run. I got one wheel off the sidewalk into some landscaping gravel and had to accept help to get out. The other downside is customer service. The charger quit working after five weeks and i'm still waiting for an email from the Aotedor service dept. I get lots of complements on it due to the white wheel covers. Overall I would recommend it for anyone that doesn't plan on rough pathways. ... show more
