It’s clear that the OADSK electronic drum practice pad set was designed with input from drummers and other musicians. Is it made for someone who just wants “to bang on the drum all day?” Yes, but also for someone who wants to do much more. The set includes 10 play-along Demo songs and 10 Rhythm accompaniments. Both, like the drums themselves, can be played through the set’s quality stereo speakers or enjoyed privately with your headphones. There is a speed control that can increase the Demo and Rhythm tempos or slow them to help users recognize and appreciate individual elements and make it easier to follow along. A second control regulates volume of the drums, Demo and Rhythm modes. Drummers who play traditional kits can have difficulty adjusting to the “feel” and return of the rubbery electronic pads. Unlike traditional sets, a more forceful strike does not result in a louder return on electronic drums, which typically offer only one volume and one sound regardless of where or how hard the playing surface is struck. I miss being able to adjust the nuance and sensitivity of individual electronic drums, a feature not available on this OADSK set. A more interesting option, perhaps—a push of the “Style” button provides the sounds of seven different drum sets, ranging from traditional to techno, to give users plenty of sonic options to call their own. It’s a great feature that would be made even better if the demos, rhythms and drum styles could be selected from a numbered list of some kind. As is, locating a favorite requires rummaging through all the others. That’s the only tweak I’d hope for, because OADSK has everything else covered—things like no latency; really good, realistic drum sounds with stereo speakers able to carry the load; the ability to do clean “rolls,” and a compact, portable design. And here’s the best part: Instead of being limited to playing along with Demos and Rhythms, the Line In feature allows users to input their audio player and drum along with their own playlist, and even balance the music player and drum volume. Via Line Out, the performance can be enjoyed on speaker or headphones, or output to an audio recording device. No recording device? The kit has a Recording mode that records and plays back your accompaniment, even allowing users to change Styles during playback. You get instant feedback to plot your progress, and you’ll never run short of choice material to practice with and learn from.

Let's be honest, the AODSK electronic drum pad looks like someone took an old phone and added some drum pads to it. Although it looks a bit cheesy this practice pad is a lot of fun! The AODSK drum pad comes with everything you need to get started playing right out of the box. The AODSK electronic drum pad includes a USB-C power cable (sorry, no charger block), a set of smaller form drumsticks, and 2 foot pedals to control the hi-hat and kick drum. With 7 drum kit presets, 10 demo patterns, and 10 accompaniment tracks, there isn't a ton of variety, but there is enough to make practice a lot of fun. The built in speakers aren't terrible, but they're not great either, especially when it comes to reproducing the low sounds of the kick drums and low toms. However, the drum kit sounds great through a good set of headphones or external speaker. On the back of the sound module are inputs for the included pedals, power, a headphone jack, and an aux input jack. I decided to connect my phone so I could play along with songs and before I knew it I was having an absolute blast! This little drum pad is a lot of fun and I really like the teal color on the drum pads. I wish the pads were sensitive to pressure, and I wish the layout of the hi-hat and snare were reversed, but overall this is a fun kit for beginning drummers of all ages.
