  • GREAT KIT!
Style: Musical Instruments
I'm new in drumming and this is my second kit. It most definitely perfect. Practicing and mild to light gigs or recidals are no issues for it. Has enough flagship gear with it, looks great, doesn't take up too much space, very upgradeable! 9 out of 10 for the kit. Would be 10/10 but it is expensive (just manufacture gripe) otherwise great buy 👍🏼 ... show more

  • Amazing kit. Note that you must supply some of your own hardware
Style: Musical Instruments
Beginner drummer here with some experience in piano and electric guitar. This is a huge upgrade from my Roland TD-1DMK which was my first kit. All of the pads are massive (The ride and snare in particular are colossal when compared side by side with the TD-1DMK) and allow for far, far more expressive play and technique that closely emulates an acoustic kit. The sounds generated from the module also sound great. It was a bit of an exhausting undertaking doing the unboxing, assembly, and cleanup myself because of the ridiculous amount of cardboard, but it was definitely worth it in the end. However, be aware that the set does NOT come with a kick pedal, hi-hat stand, or snare stand -- you must supply your own. It didn't seem obvious from all of the marketing images of the kit, so I just wanted to make it crystal clear here for any prospective buyers thinking of making a purchase. Besides that, I don't think you can go wrong with this kit if you've got the disposable income sitting around to order one for yourself. It's probably the best value kit in Roland's collection considering the hardware you're getting, at least within this tier of other comparable drum kits given the hardware and price range. ... show more

  • In Heaven
Style: Musical Instruments
My husband is a long time drummer…nearly 60 years! He has a previous electronic set, it is over 25 years old, it was time for a brand new set and he is lovin it!

  • Nice kit!
Style: Musical Instruments
Great kit! The mesh heads make it a lot better than what I had previously (a competitor's kit from 9 years ago). The brain is user friendly to me and editing kits is not hard at all. Took a bit of time to put together the rack, but that is normal for these kits. Make sure you get both boxes delivered. I ended up buying it from somewhere else due to the rack not being delivered with the drums, but overall I am happy with the kit. ... show more

  • Dang this is a nice set.
Style: Musical Instruments
Just to clarify something, the guy complaining about not being able to use the double bass should understand that if you want double bass, you simply upgrade to a KD120 at a minimum and then get an appropriate double pedal and do your thing. It’s like asking why your truck has a v6 instead of a v8. You see it comes standard the way it is. If you don’t like it, then just like everything else in life, you upgrade. The TD27 module, the heart of the system, is extremely flexible and powerful. The menu deep dives to extract the most minute details are similar to the Fractal Axe FX III processor in the guitar world if you happen to be a multi-instrumentalist. Sometimes the tweaks are so small, that the subtleties can get lost in the mix. But in the right context and set center stage as a focal point of the track, many of those small but meaningful tweaks can add up and sound fantastic. The hardware is the same as is standard with the TD50 kit aside from the 50k having a larger, thus more expandable frame capacity for larger pads and potentially cymbals, as well as accommodating the larger and much easier to navigate TD50 module. Unfortunately the TD50 module is almost 3K alone. That’s pure nonsense and the price of the module should be at least 30% less consistently. The TD27kv2 kit has in fact borrowed a lot of technology from the considerably more expensive ($2K more give or take) aforementioned TD50k kit. Connectivity is spectacular. USB, Bluetooth, Master Out to Mixer/Audio Interface, headphones and the ability to use it as a MIDI controller off the top of my head. The ability to load user samples is also pretty great. Trigger sensitivity is fantastic. Dynamic range is fantastic. Rebound feel on these mesh heads feels as real as it gets. I’m using the kit in multiple ways. Sometimes it’s to run straight into the DAW interface (RME UFX+). Others it does duty as a MIDI controller. I personally use Addictive Drums 2 as my percussion VST if I’m recording and need single track control. In hind sight, Session Drummer works and sound pretty great also. If you’re just starting out, this likely isn’t a set for you. If you have several seasons under your belt this is a pretty nice set. It should be nice considering the final price after purchasing the drum throne, snare stand, hi hat stand, single or double bass pedal and kick drum upgrade an additional splash, crash or pad, etc… Pull the trigger, you can’t go wrong. And I’m sure you can resolve any double bass questions pretty easily without knocking 2 stars off for not having something it doesn’t advertise that is does come with, or not doing something it doesn’t imply it will do unless you make some upgrades. If you can’t understand these relatively minor concepts, you should buy a Yamaha or Alesia kit because this module’s superior capabilities will in actuality be wasted on those with no intellectual creativity or common sense, ... show more
