Update 03/19/24 I am updating based on the usage for the past 3 months. I bought this as a Xmas gift for my husband. The first kit was used and had missing parts. It was an embarrassing disappointment. However, this is where the review changes. Due to my last review Donner reached out to us not only did they sent us a new kit immediately, they also refunded part of what I paid in hopes that they changed my mind. I was impressed with their service but I wasn't going to change my review until my husband had used the kit for a while to give it a proper review. In the mean time Donner reached out again and sent us an Amp. I was already impressed and happy with their service. The Amp wasn't necessary but appreciated. As far as customer service, we can say that Donner goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. So 5 stars As far as the set goes, my husband is 6 ft tall and strong so he kinda looks like a giant, the set is tiny. He looks like a praying mantis drumming but he likes the set and he is satisfied with it. I love to hear him drumming . I'm not gonna say that this is the best drumming kit, I'm sure that there are better ones but this is a good starting kit and we are appreciative to Donner for their excellent support. **** It was Christmas present for my husband and it was used and its missing several component including cables, high hat pedal, stand for stool and there are stains on the drum heads, missing wires. It seems and looks used and returned. How embarrassing and disappointing. I feel horrible.

I have been a drummer for many years. Always played with traditional acoustic drums. I hadn’t owned a set for a long time and didn’t want to disturb my family or neighbors so I thought I’d give electronic ones a try. These are of very good quality. The set up was easy and they sound amazing. I would recommend getting better quality headphones though. The mesh pads give a realistic feel and it’s great that the sound of each component can be tailored. The manual is mostly useless to program stuff. I relied on AI step by step instructions and it worked out very well. I am very impressed with this drum set. Everybody says it’s for kids and beginners but I disagree. They are versatile and even an experienced drummer would enjoy messing around on these. It’s for home use and for practice. Obviously, nobody would take $400 drums on tour with Metallica. Anyway, I highly recommend these. Well worth the price .

**This was more like a 4.5 star review if I could** As a drummer who’s had wood shells and metal my whole life (25 years experience). I’ve wanted to break into the world of the electronic side of drumming. For a kit to test the waters and see if you would like to go for an advanced kit this is perfect. Or even as a starter kit. Over all for an electric kit this does perform well. It’s a rough adjustment with the mesh heads and some of the reaction for things like hi hat action are limited (as far as advanced fast technical playing styles with lighter hits especially) With what comes with the kit I will note: The throne is small. I am 5’10 and I found I was sitting too low for my comfort. And the pedal is good for a beginner but it isn’t very reactive for advance play. It’s also smaller so be prepared to play a little tighter as well. It’s worth the money and extra symbol. It’s also very easy with the functions to navigate lessons, switching kits, etc. Set up time was about 45 minutes and another 1 hour me adjusting how I want it (Isnt it always the longest part?)

Everything about this drumset is impressive. Easy setup. Great drum head feel/rebound, and everything sounds really good in both headphones or plugged into an amplifier (i also bought the Donner electric drum amplifier as well).

Purchased the drum set to practice with a band I played with in my 20s in preparation for a reunion show. we needed to practice in different locations throughout the north east due to our schedules. Carrying my vintage Ludwig drum set with a 24 inch bass drum on it around all these places seem like a chore for somebody in there that was still in their 20s.😂 I had initially looked at a Roland TD 17 kit which retails for almost $1900. Knowing that I wasn’t about to start some electro band, I looked into cheaper alternatives. This was the best one I could find by far based on price what came in the box and the outbox capabilities as far as a midi-control unit. A plus plus on all fronts. Sound quality is good and if you link it to some simple sound editing software you can use real life studio recorded sets. That is pretty awesome for 400 bucks. That said, the 8 inch drums are a little tough for someone who likens their playing style to that of Animal from the muppets. Took a little while to get everything in the right spot but after some easy adjustments, everything is in its right place and I can rock out with the best of them. It is super easy to plug in your phone so you can play along to songs if you’re practicing or to plug it right into a PA, sound board, or bass amp and adjust the volume or anything else really right from the control unit. I know that sounds like a lot but two weeks ago. I didn’t know anything about this stuff so even the tweenager could figure the stuff out, most likely more effectively.🙂

Fun to play and packaged well. My child loves it. Quiet for those that aren’t listening on the headphones. Does fold up a little to help with space. Only things I might say is the headphones aren’t the highest quality and don’t pick up every beat when playing fast. And adjusting the throne/ seat takes a couple steps but neither effect what we use it for.

I would actually like to give a 3.5 but obviously can’t. PROs 1. Price…I think you get A LOT for your money and it is acceptable quality. I did not unbox and go “Oh this is crap!” Set up was easy. 2. Functionality…very easy to navigate through the module and make changes to kits and songs. 3.Sound…kits have decent sounds. Some of the components sounds are very similar though. 4. Playability…Excellent…fun. CONS 1 The sounds of the play along songs are a bit juvenile and cheesy. (There are some play along apps out there that have a no drum feature). 2. Very loud buzzing when anything connected to aux in port which makes playing along to songs from my phone…which is what I do, impossible. I am not an audio whizz, I thought about getting a Bluetooth dongle but decided to run everything through an external amp and just plug my headphones into the amp…seems to work ok. 3. Support bar that snare is on does not tighten down and after every song it was almost vertical Ended up putting a rubber wrap around the bar so the clamps could tighten…seems to have worked. Had for 2 weeks now… it is fun. We’ll see how structurally it holds up.

I’m brand new to drums so I’m still learning what is good and what isn’t, but I really like how you can adjust the sounds of everything and save it as your own preset. I also like the presets given for different genres or types of playing. One thing to note is that the material does get pet hair stuck to it but that’s not a big deal to me. It comes with sticks and the kick drum pedal which are great! While you are limited to the bars holding it up all the drums and cymbals can be moved or angled to however works best for you. If you’re an adult planning to use this I would recommend using a different pair of headphones as the ones it comes with are quite small and might give you a headache.
