So pretty much....It does what its supposed to do....my cats get a nice warm box to put their paws on and I get solid ethernet connectivity so I guess its a win win. Regardless, not a bad solution for the lack of ethernet port on the macbook pro...and your cats will love it

The adapter has a nice braided built in cable that is USB-C with an attachable USB-A plug adapter, which is convenient when working with older desktops and laptops without USB-C. I have xfinity gigabit plan and I usually get around 800Mb on my desktop while wired in. With this adapter, I get about 768Mb, so pretty close to what I would get with a straight ethernet wired in the ethernet port. I tried it with my gaming laptop and iPad Pro 12.9 and it worked plug-n-play without problems. I did notice this adapter getting hot when I game for hours, but I did not notice any lag in the game due to the adapter warming up. However, it does bring some concerns with the longevity of adapter in the future from heating up all the time during long hour use. But if I need an ethernet to connect an iPad or laptops with no ethernet ports, this adapter will be handy for short term use.

i use these to refurb laptops everyday. i like the lights and the high speeds and the usb adapter except this doesn't work with apple. i don't know what kind of chip they use but non of the macbooks detected it have to take a couple stars off for that

I recently upgraded a large portion of my network to 2.5G and this is the adapter I am using between my personal PC and my NAS. It gets the expected speeds and I have zero complaints. Completely plug and play.

It does not work with the MacBook Pro M4. The first one was replaced, but the second one didn't work either. I don't recommend it for MacBook Pro M4s. I bought the OWC Thunderbolt 4 10G Ethernet Adapter, which works flawlessly. Just plug it in and macOS will connect automatically.

Bought this to connect my Chromebook to Ethernet, in case of some wifi failure, it's REALLY nice to have this extra dongle sitting in the laptop-bag to be a back-up, since Chromebooks don't work at all without internet. Have had no problems using it so far! Have not used it very many times, so I don't know how long it takes to wear out.

I have the 5/2.5/1Gbps USB-C adapter version with the attached USB-C cable and C-to-A adapter, and it works with a Windows PC. It properly clocked down to both 2.5Gb and 1Gb, so it retains good backward-compatibility. It says it can do 100Mbps, though I didn't try forcing that option in the network settings window. There is now a 10Gb version with detachable cable, though I don't have one of those to compare.
