Pleasantly surprised how much better these bowls work for warming up or cooking in the microwave. The lids are amazing, they seem to be the key to creating a good seal to allow foods to steam, but with just enough venting to stay secure. Also everything is easy to clean and stackable. Heavier than Anticipated

I didn't expect it to be so heavy. Lifting it up and out of an above range microwave would be challenging for someone with strength issues. I got the medium-sized high and low bowls. Amazingly, the high bowl is easier to lift than the low bowl. They work well and should last a while.

Microwave to the Next Level

I bought this because I started looking at the ads for it. I thought the concept sounded really interesting and plausible. Theoretically, there should be no reason why you couldn't cook in a microwave. It just heats using a different mechanism than the oven does. Instead of direct heat, you get wet heat. You cook through oscillating water molecules. I know conceptually steaming food is also healthier than frying. You can trap more nutrients in. So, I was all in. I bought a set and I am glad I did. Honestly though, I probably could have gotten away with just getting the medium deep dish or shallow dish. Most recipes require one or the other. I have been lately obsessed with the AnyDay Shashuka recipe. It is on their website. I have made it several times now. Several times for myself and several times for others. Now, it does take some experimentation. I think that's true with any cooking technique. To really perfect use of it, you need to see how it performs in your particular microwave. Each microwave has different settings and their calibrations can wildly vary. I learned that I need to cook a bit longer to achieve the right visual consistency that I am looking for. After a couple of practice attempts, I got the recipe down to a spot where I really cook to what I like. What the AnyDay bowl does though is help achieve consistency, it traps the steam in and has a clever valve to release it when needed. Because gas fills a space evenly, you get really nice even cooking as long as you chopped up everything equally. That's just standard cooking norms. You want to have homogeneity in anything you cook so everything is even. Then, you cook in layers. Long story short, you can have a lot of fun in the microwave. It is easy to clean up. It cooks very quickly because you are using steam to cook (aka boiling gas). Clean up is simple and its easy to transport. You eat out of the bowl you cooked in. I give this a 5 star!

I use the two largest bowls every day for my vegetables, but the lid will start to come off if you have too much water I'm assuming. I use less than 1/4 of a cup. Overall, I love these bowls. I'm still surprised that they are safe with the metal on the lid.
