  • The Anthter 900 watt blender destroys ice. $49.99
Arrived a few minutes ago. Because it's new and under warranty I didn't baby it. About half full of refrigerator made ice (wanning moon shape). Added some water so half the ice was in water. Suggested mode is "P" for pulse, I rotated the control knob to the right OMG, low medium high medium low, about that fast. The shredding ripping noises it made were maybe the blades cavitating in air. The ice crushed into fine packable particles, all uniform, I have to guess it "processed" the ice before the third speed, left a hallow area where the blade was spinning in like 2 seconds. Let me be clear the blender shredded the ice and water into one consistent size in less than 2 seconds. It wasn't slushy it was dry shredded ice. I don't know what it is capable of with fruit or whatever one might want to blend but I am a fan of flavoring soft destroyed ice shavings. I was given a "samurai" 400 watt blender years ago, stacked blades, I still had to have as much water as ice and then shake it around to get the ice broken up. NO comparison at all. Anthter wins hands down. I will get some video of it soon. The owner's manual says things like don't run for 2 minutes and if it suddenly shuts off it's thermally protected just wait 10 minutes. What is tougher than all ice no water? Maybe syrup, oats, flour, ice cream and ice together would make it work. Let me get back to you on that one. But it crushed ice well before I found the correct dial position. Impressive no bad smell, no smoke, just purreed ice in less than 2 seconds no standing water in the pitcher when it was done. I didn't think it was close to finished but it was. ... show more

  • Will it blend? Yep. And build your arm muscles, too.
I wanted the metal and the glass after what happened to my previous, mostly-plastic blender (small parts breaking and obvious heat stress in the top after being in the dishwasher). The glass is very solid and heavy, and will of course sterilize nicely, one of the big benefits of glass. It's also heavy--substantially more solid-seeming than the steel base or the control dial. So far the construction seems good and the blender handily reduces vegetables to paste. The downside of a solid seal is that top is not always easy to remove--exercise some caution. But I would definitely recommend it. ... show more

  • OMG loud
Final Update: The company sent me a whole new blender within a few days, with no cost at all. For customer service, they get top stars. I still don't actually like the blender itself. It is loud. But the glass jar is sturdy, it seems as strong as the previous blender I had (tho I haven't done ice, just regular stuff) and the base doesn't take much space. I've upgraded the star rating based on the low-hassle customer service. *Update: I called Amazon customer service and got a link where I could say what was wrong. I did, they got back to me the next day. They said send a pic, my name and address and they would send me the part at no cost. So I did. Will see what happens next.* I am not happy with the Anther blender I bought. I didn’t like it from the beginning, it is OMG loud. It was not more powerful than the one I previously had but it was at least twice as loud and maybe more. I didn’t use it for quite a while because of that, choosing to use my stick blender if I could for whatever I was doing, and the return window passed. Then I had to use the blender so I gritted my teeth and endured the racket. It leaked. I thought I hadn’t screwed the bottom on tight enough. The next time I used it, it leaked. It leaked again today. A blender that leaks is not usable. I’ve wasted every penny I spent because I have to toss this out and buy another one. This doesn’t even deserve a single star (tho I have to give at least one) because I can’t find any info on the company so I can buy a replacement ring so it won’t leak! I was astonished to find that in the paperwork that came with it (I still have that), there was no way to contact them. At all. I went to Amazon to get the info and they gave me a link to click on. Still no info, but after going thru a couple of pages of robot chat dropdown choices, I was able to send a message about replacing the plastic ring. Holy moly how much trouble do they expect us to endure? Made in China – I guess that says it all. Buy at your own risk. ... show more
