This speaker really does have boom, especially if you configure the EQ, which you WILL need to download the app and do. The highs are terribly lacking in the default or preset configurations, but you can easily fix it by lowering the midrange a bit, cranking up the two high EQs, and then customize the bass to your liking. The app works great and allows for several presets, only selectable in the app. The EQ settings stay regardless of what connects to it (and without using the app again), so set it and forget it. Rarely is there a bit of noticable distortion in the bass (probably because I have it cranked so much), but the mid and high is clear. Sound quality: once the highs are boosted to the max (I could even go for a little more), this thing really cranks. For a normal-sized bedroom, it you will not be able to turn it up all the way. In a large room or outside, it will still sound good at 50ft away, especially if you place it about 6-12" from a wall on the ground. The bluetooth range is incredible- at least 65 feet, possibly more. I sometimes walk through my house or go in the basement and it's still happily playing outside. It actually does pretty well covering my whole back yard. If I remember, it states 30 watts of power, and that sounds about right given that the speakers are only about 3". Battery: Not sure- never drained it fully. I have played it on max volume (with bass greatly boosted) for 6+ hours, and never saw the battery dip below 40%. Easily 8 hours on max volume. Construction: This is built like a brick. It's a heavy but not too heavy, maybe I should say "Solid". No rattles or thin plastic. I presume a big battery and huge magnets on the speakers are most of the weight. No lights or fancy stuff, just pure sound. It's incredible to get that much rich sound out of puny little speakers. Easily beats the mini Bose and several other friends' speakers. Mine is now the #1 choice for prepping the 9-year-old hockey team for a game. And I ordered a renewed one (to save a couple bucks), which I could never tell was opened by another person. Frankly, I don't know why someone would return it anyways. Win for me. I can't imagine there is another speaker of this size that will compete. I would knock one star off due to the need to greatly boost the high frequencies, but I just can't since it is so easily fixable. ... show more

For how much it costs right now, it's far better than JBL's cheapest and second cheapest speaker which is the Go and the Clip speakers they have, and it has a good amount of bass, but probably not better than the big $500 JBL but hey, you get what you pay for, can't complain for a speaker less than $100. Amazing clarity and sound range for this size speaker. It sounds best at at 50% volume, the bass is deep and tight for it size though is drops off at high/full volume. Perfect for camping, fishing, or beach since it is IP7 water proof and provides all day battery life.

I recently took this to Bear Lake ID and we had it playing at 60-70% volume from 10 AM until 6 PM, then took it back to camp and kept the tunes going until midnight. I put it on the charger overnight, it was fully recharged in the morning and we did it all again the next day. Sounds fantastic for such a small unit, paired effortlessly (quickly - every time) to my IPhone and while it provides excellent mids and decent bass, it won’t annoy the nearby neighbors on the beach. If you want thunderous bass that you can feel 50 yards away, this isn’t going to do it for you, but you will have to spend at least twice the money if you want that anyway. This speaker is great value for the money and it’ll keep the tunes going all day on a single charge. I didn’t test the waterproof claim, but it certainly did the job I bought it for! I was skeptical, but I tried it. I was worried when it took almost 9 hours for the initial charge, but then I realized this is also a battery bank-bonus! It was easy to pair, and I no longer had to worry about using increasingly hard to find quality small boom boxes in the garden, hot tub, snow shoveling, etc. It runs for a very long time per charge-I find I charge it maybe weekly. It gets quite loud-almost scary for its small size. And when the "bass boost" is engaged-the passive radiators on the side put out much more bass than I could have asked for-sounds like a regular stereo system (remember them?). And if I get stupid, it is waterproof, and is claimed to actually float! Haven't tried that yet, but I am so perfectly happy with this unit!
