  • Excellent value for the money; kids LOVE it
Style: AC Power
Had our first outdoor family movie night recently, and it was a blast. This little projector was GREAT! I'm not a videophile, nor audiophile. I grew up watching old-style TVs where I was the remote, so I'm easy to please. Having said that, I'm nearly 30 years in tech, so I do care that it looks great, I'm just not super picky. For me, the 1080P looks excellent for how small this projector is! I pointed it at a wall inside the house for the initial setup; it's Android-based, and setup was pretty slick. It'll be even easier if you have an Android-based phone. Got all my relevant apps synced and it connected to my house WiFi just fine. Once I got it dialed in, I paired it with a JBL Flip 5 speaker. Combined with the stand I purchased, there's room for the speaker and the projector with room to spare. Planning on getting a second JBL Flip 5 to put them in "party mode" for stereo effect. For me, the sound setup is great. Since it's Bluetooth, you can place the speakers on either side of the audience instead of the stand if you want. JBLs are loud enough to be fun, but can be dialed in so you don't drive your neighbors crazy. Couple of tips: I used some stakes to ground the projector stand in the lawn; didn't want it accidentally getting knocked over. Also, when I first took it outside, I thought I had messed something up on the projector, but it turned out the brightness had been turned all the way down to zero. Not sure how I did that. Once that was fixed, we had a great time. Paired it with a 16' inflatable screen, also from Amazon. Super fun summer activity for the fam. ... show more

  • Good picture and features for the price!
Style: AC Power
This projector produces a pretty decent 1080P image. It's not super bright but I wouldn't expect that for this kind of "lifestyle" projector. My only real complaint is that it seems almost impossible to get all corners of the screen in focus. The autofocus usually gets the center in focus but one side of the screen or the other (usually the right side) is a little fuzzy. It's hard to notice with most content and I can usually dial in the focus a little better if I make the right side completely sharp. the left is a little out. This might be an issue with my particular unit. I do like the autofocus and smart features, in general. I am just a bit nitpicky with edge to edge sharpness. ... show more

  • Good picture, frustrating performance
Style: AC Power
Pros: 1. Able to play media from a wide variety of streaming services. 2. Projection quality is good. Color and contrast ranges are nothing spectacular, but on par with a decent HD monitor. 3. Price point is reasonable for the quality of the picture and brightness of the bulb. 4. Remote design is minimalist, intuitive and buttons are responsive. Built-in Google voice assistant button takes some getting used to, but recognizes speech accurately and saves the hassle of typing search queries. Cons: 1. Fan is loud, to the point that the onboard speaker must be turned to full volume to overcome its white noise. This wouldn't be terrible, except for... 2. Speaker does not play dialogue clearly, everything sounds muddy and compressed. This is especially true when coupled with the loud fan. You have to sit close to the projector to hear clearly, ruling out ceiling mounted projection. This too wouldn't be a dealbreaker if not for... 3. Bluetooth connection is spotty. It stays reasonably stable for Google's own apps (YouTube, Google Play, YT Music, etc.) but cuts out or is out of sync with Prime, Hulu, Apple TV+, HBO Max, Dish, and other apps. It also does not stay synced in "party mode" on my Bose speakers, only connecting to one at a time. No bluetooth surround option. 4. Operating Netflix is extremely cumbersome. You have to run it through a separate Nebula Manager app, plus install a remote app on your phone because the handheld remote will not work with it. Once you start playing something, it's fine, but trying to pause, skip, enable subtitles, etc., plan to lose time, lose your place in what you were playing, deal with the app crashing and overall have a very frustrating user experience. I tried clearing data from the app and it logged me out and now will not recognize my password, which I am currently logged in from two devices with, so I don't know what the problem is if not the third party manager app. I've tried casting from my phone, and even though other apps recognize the projector immediately, the Netflix app can't detect it to cast to. 5. Memory is paltry. I only have about 10-12 apps at a time installed, no media downloaded at all, yet firmware updates force me to uninstall apps just to operate the projector. 6. Slow and glitchy. I expect better from an Anker product. 7. This could just be my device, but the stand to angle the projector so it centers on the screen is not level so the picture is at all times at a slight tilt. I corrected it with a small adhesive cork pad on one corner, but again, I expect better quality control from a company like Anker. Verdict: I've used this for a year and half and it's acceptable for infrequent use but overall, I'm disappointed in the stability/reliability of its "smart" features. I might just use this for work and upgrade to something better for a home theater. The most reliable option is to plug my laptop into the HDMI port. I can at least operate multiple bluetooth speakers through my laptop with perfect synchronization; however, it undermines the purpose (and the price) of a smart projector and wanting minimal cord clutter. I'd look for another device if you want a smart home theater. ... show more
