I have bought this for my daughter and I for years. Have actually only had to replace one and that was our bad on taking care of the cord. This brand and straightener is as good as the expensive professional ones including getting as hot.

I guess for what i paid i shouldn't complain BUT--- i cannot prove this 100% but i think that this was not a new or unused item. First the item at the tip is dirty and peeling and i just got it. The inside of the box has cardboard where the iron is secured for shipping and it was completely torn on one end. One of the ceramic plates was not in correct position and the cord was not wrapped securely with the wire tie. I think it is a returned item because the plates do not close completely around your hair and your hair DOES get snagged unless you part your hair into very small sections. However it does heat up very quickly but you cannot read the temps or whatever on the tiny dial so wear a heat glove or be very, very careful. I'll keep it as an extra but this could never be my everyday iron. Too bad as i just wish that if this had been a USED item or whatever, that it would have been noted on the listing. It's not worth returning as stated i will keep it for an extra. -maybe i just got a lemon which does happen but it's my review so this is the item i am reviewing. ... show more

This flat iron does a great job of straightening my thick, heavy hair. But, there is a lock at the end of it that won't stay in the open position.
