I got The Ameriwood Home Mateo Fireplace with Mantel in white for my unheated sunroom which I am updating this spring. I love how easy this was to assemble by my self, the instruction manual was ver clear and direct with setting up instructions. One of the parts had holes that were misaligned, I called the manufacture and the friendly cautious representative, sent a replacement straight away with no issue or hassle and the replacement piece of the mantle came the following week which I really appreciate the prompt response. Once everything was sorted out and fully assembled, the fireplace is exactly what I wanted. I works well and the heating is sufficient for the sunroom. The heater works well and is not noisy at all, it heats up the space fast. Also, the flame settings are very beautiful and sets a lovely ambiance to the space. I am very satisfied with the purchase of this fireplace as it is simple and has a beautiful traditional appearance which is exactly what I wanted. So I had been eyeing this electric fireplace for a while for our bedroom and I’m so glad I got it it’s exactly what we wanted.. it’s perfect size and heats our room instantly. I love the flames it gives off a nice cozy look and feel to the room. A friend owns a different Ameriwood fireplace. I found the fireplace quality to be very nice, especially for artificial/electric, and the wood finish didn't look cheap, like plasticky laminate, so when I was shopping for my own, I wanted the Ameriwood brand. It fits perfectly in our space. It adds the fireplace effect without being overly bulky and obtrusive - the slim profile is perfect. The finish of the wood mantle looks very similar to real wood, and the body of the fireplace is not a bright white, it leans towards distressed, which gives it more of a cream coloured finish, which I prefer with our decor. I do have some complaints, however... The pre-drilled holes are not all lined up evenly. This did not impact assembly, but it did impact the finished product. A few of the smaller side pieces have a slight lean to them and do not create a flush corner, and there are a couple of slight gaps in other areas where the hole placement did not allow adjacent pieces to touch snugly as they should have. Since I assembled it, I know exactly where the imperfections are, but they don't seem to be glaringly obvious to others. Regardless, quality control is definitely lacking, which is really unacceptable for the price. It is still particleboard after all. My fireplace was also missing some hardware, and it was clear that there is also no QC on the hardware packs. I was missing three of the last four items needed to secure the mantle, but I had random numbered extras of other hardware pieces. I contacted Ameriwood for replacements, and I am still awaiting the parts. I helped my friend assemble their Ameriwood piece, and there were none of the issues I experienced. This is just what I was looking for! It fits my space perfectly. It was easy to assemble and the instructions were easy to follow. It took me about an hour to assemble by myself. The flame looks about as natural as an electric fireplace is going to look. There are 4 flame levels, all controlled on the unit itself or by remote control. You can choose to run the unit with heat or without. The heat is also controlled on the unit itself or the remote control. I have already recommended this fireplace to friends. Very happy with this purchase. The only thing I would change is maybe having some backlighting on the remote. But at this price point, that’s not a dealbreaker at all. ... show more

The heater works great, but the mantel frame, is TRASH. They put the holes on "B" on the wrong side, reason why it's discolored. There are scrapes and a gap. I'm not going to send back cause, it's a hassle. So just going to DIY to fill in gaps and paint that one part..

The media could not be loaded. Looks elegant from far away, but bummed about a few material and building things. Firstly, the base plank is unfinished and not painted white. I checked to see if this was a user error and no, I built correctly as labeled. The top part is finished on both sides so I just planned on swapping them, but the bottom plank is 1.5 inches wider than the top, so that wasn’t possible. Second, as many other reviewers have stated there is gapping on the front of the finished product. I knew this going into building it and did everything I could to balance either side so the gapping was at least even, but it unfortunately left a gap on the left side and not the right. My OCD, Urgh!!!! Lastly, the paint is pretty sloppy and arrived rubbed off on multiple corners of the wood. Luckily this isn’t terribly noticeable, unless you’re up close. I guess for the price it does the job. It produces quite a bit of heat for my downstairs which is a bonus. So I guess buy at your own risk. :) ... show more
